For 2014 the American Kennel Club (AKC) will field a team of 12 dogs to compete at the FCI Agility World Championships (AWC) which will be held in Luxembourg on September 11-14, 2014. And the AKC will approve entry for 32 dogs selected through the team tryout process and through the online credential/qualification process to the European Open (EO) agility competition to be held July 24-27, 2014 in Kaposvar, Hungary. The 2014 Team Tryouts will be the basis for selecting both teams. There will be one competition with 4 rounds. Dogs competing for spots on the EO and/or AWC teams will run all the same regular rounds/courses. But scoring will be treated separately for dogs competing for EO spots and dogs competing for AWC spots. Qualifications are also different. Information that relates only to the EO team are in blue, information that relates only to the AWC team are in green. Basic Eligibility for all candidates entering International Team Tryouts (EO and AWC) Any Candidate younger than 18 years of age at ITT must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at their own expense (e.g.: air, hotel & ground travel) at the ITT competition and international competitions as well as team practices, should the minor become an AKC International EO Team or AWC Team member. The Candidate showing the dog at ITT will be the only handler allowed to compete with the dog at the International competitions. The handler of the dog at ITT must be the handler who showed the dog to gain its minimum score or title requirements. Candidates must be the registered owner or co-owner of record of the dog at entry closing time for ITT. Candidates must be US residents for the 24 months preceding ITT. Candidate must be willing to travel with the team to the European Open and/or AWC. Candidate must be willing to acquire any documentation required by the local government(s). Team Members must be willing to have their dog treated for tapeworm within 30 days of the competition if the host country requires it. Team Members must be willing to vaccinate their dog for rabies no more than one year prior, but also no less than one month prior to the date of the competition. Please note that it is important that your dog s microchip and/or tattoo numbers be on your rabies certificates. You will likely need to ask your vet to manually add this information and sign it as it is not common practice to include it. ISO compatible microchips are the only ones recognized in Europe. Candidates must be in good standing with the American Kennel Club. Any Candidate who has received a misconduct charge during the year prior to tryouts will not be allowed to compete at ITT. Any handler who receives a misconduct charge after earning a spot on either team, and before the competition, may also be subject to sanction up to and including removal from the team by the Team Coach and AKC Director of Agility. Candidates must at all times demonstrate extreme Good Sportsmanship while participating in or watching any agility event. The World Team Coach & AKC Director of Agility may refuse entry to ITT and/or the EO team to any handler who demonstrates verbal or physical abuse to a dog or fellow competitor or acts abusive or challenging to an agility judge. Candidates are representatives of the agility program in the United States and are also representing those companies which sponsor agility in the United States. Though not required, the team is strongly encouraged to compete at the AKC Nationals, March 27-30, 2014. Results from the AKC Nationals will be a consideration in choosing the remaining team members. Small -14 inches - Medium -18 inches - Large - 26 inches - HEIGHT DIVISIONS for dogs 13-3/4 and under at the shoulder for dogs 16-7/8 and under at the shoulder for dogs over 16-7/8 at the shoulder All small and medium dogs competing at Tryouts will be measured by the Agility Director. Due to stricter measuring procedures at the FCI competitions, dogs within 1 of the cutoff should be prepared to also be measured by both judges of records at the Tryouts. Dogs measuring over will run FEO (for exhibition only).

FCI European Open (EO) The AKC will enter up to 32 dogs in the FCI EO to represent the USA at this event. The FCI European Open event is currently scheduled to be held July 24-27, 2014 in Kaposvar, Hungary. www.eo2014hungary.com Four dog/handler teams from each height division will win a spot on the teambased on their performance at the International Team Tryouts (ITT). o Any registered Canine Partner who wins one of these spots will be sponsored by the AKC to attend the EO as well as an EO practice if one is held. o A $500 cash prize will be given to these handlers to help defray travel expenses. The prize will be awarded after attendance at the EO competition. The remaining 20 dogs will be chosen by AKC based on a variety of factors (explained further below). International Team Tryouts attendance is not a requirement for these dogs. These spots will be announced by May 15, 2014. FCI European Open (EO) Candidate Qualifications Entry to the ITT for the purpose of trying out for the EO team only requires that the dog have achieved its AX and AXJ titles and be competing at the Master level in both standard and JWW classes. The dog must have these titles by April 1, 2014. All Teams must also meet the Basic Eligibility requirements listed above. All breeds and mixed breeds can compete at the EO and as such are eligible for ITT. Cropped/docked dogs: We believe they will be able to compete, but we are waiting for written confirmation. If we find out that they won t be allowed, entries can be refunded or the dog can be run FEO. All 32 dogs must be registered with the AKC to compete at the FCI European Open AKC/USA Team. Dogs must have an AKC registration number, PAL/ILP number or AKC Canine Partners listing number. European Open (EO) Application Process An online entry form is now available and everyone who is trying out for the EO team needs to complete the form whether attending tryouts or not. The form should be completed by March 1st or sooner. Open the link to the form and read through all the information you will need to complete the form then gather up all your information and return to complete the form (www.tfaforms.com/308508). This information will be used in conjunction with the team s performance at ITT (if they attend) to determine the remaining 20 dogs that will be entered at the EO. Final AKC International Team Selection (EO) Candidates not winning on the team at ITT will need to confirm their interest in being one of the remaining 20 dogs at EO immediately following the announcement of the AWC team. 32 total dogs will be chosen for the EO. 16 of those will be large dogs, 16 of those will be in the small or medium class. EO TEAM SCORING There will be four rounds total over two days and every dog will run every round two JWW and two standard runs. Standard course time (SCT) for each round will be set based on an average of the 2 fastest clean rounds plus 10% (including dogs trying out only for the AWC team). Time faults will be rounded up to the nearest multiple of 5 (eg: 1.19 seconds over SCT would be scored as 5 faults, 8.32 seconds over SCT would be scored as 10 faults). Four EO team spots will be won for each jump height. For each round, dogs will be ranked based on faults, then time. Each dog will get a point for each dog they beat (ranking points). Dogs with a score of E (wrong course) will not earn any ranking points for that round. EO Team spot #1 comes from round 1 + round 2 highest number of ranking points (see tie-breakers below). EO Team spot #2 comes from round 1 + round 2 + round 3 highest number of ranking points (see tie-breakers below). If the same dog wins spot #1 and spot #2, spot #2 will be given to the dog with the next highest number of ranking points from rounds 1-3. EO Team spot #3 comes from round 1 + round 2 + round 3 + round 4 highest number of ranking points (see tie-breakers below). If the same dog wins spot #1 or #2 and spot #3, spot #3 will be given to the dog with the next highest number of ranking points from rounds 1-4. o If there is a tie in ranking points, the first tie-breaker is the highest ranking points from standard runs only. o If still tied, we will use the cumulative faults/time from the standard run(s). EO Team spot #4 comes from the cumulative results (faults, then time) of Rounds 1-4. If the same dog wins spot #1, #2 or #3 and spot #4, spot #4 will be given to the dog with the next best cumulative results from Rounds 1-4.

FCI Agility World Championships (AWC) The AKC will also enter up to 12 dogs in the FCI Agility World Championships (AWC). Any handler interested in earning a spot on the AKC/USA Agility World Team must attend the International Team Tryouts (ITT) held in May 2014. The FCI Agility World Championships (AWC) is currently scheduled to be held September 11-14, 2014 in Luxembourg. http://www.agility-wm2014.lu/english/ Two dog/handler teams from each height division will win a spot on the team at ITT. Additionally, the venue provides a common ground from which to evaluate handlers and dogs to fill the remaining team and individual spots. The remaining team spots will be chosen by the Team Coach and AKC Director of Agility using the dogs show record both during the year and at the AKC Nationals as well as performance at ITT. FCI Agility World Championships (AWC) Candidate Qualifications A Team shall be considered, for purpose of these rules, to be an owner/handler or a co-owner/handler and a dog which meets requirements for height and pedigree. A Candidate is the owner or co-owner handler that intends to compete for a position on the 2014 AKC Agility World Team. All Teams must also meet the Basic Eligibility requirements listed above. Dogs must have a three generation pedigree showing three generations of purebred lineage. (This is a requirement of the FCI Agility World Championships, not the AKC.) The FCI requires that every dog have an AKC registration number and acceptable FCI recognized pedigree. Team members must attend the two Team practices, arrive in Luxembourg by the Monday night prior to the event and attend all the practives in Europe prior to the AWC. Entry to the ITT for the purpose of trying out for the AWC team may be obtained if the following scores are achieved. Scores meeting the criteria below must be obtained between April 1, 2013 and April 1, 2014 at standard AKC licensed or member agility trials. All scores and times must come from the regular AKC Master Level titling classes for small (12 ), medium (16 ) and large (26 ) teams respectively. All scores must be clean rounds scores of 100. The handler of the dog at ITT must be the handler who showed the dog to gain its minimum score requirements. 1) A minimum of 4 standard class scores of 100 and a minimum rate of speed of: 3.70 yards per second (YPS) small dogs 3.80 yards per second (YPS) medium dogs 4.00 yards per second (YPS) large dogs 2) A minimum of 4 JWW class scores of 100 and a minimum rate of speed of: 4.90 yards per second (YPS) small dogs 5.00 yards per second (YPS) medium dogs 5.40 yards per second (YPS) large dogs 3) A minimum of 2 double Q s No minimum YPS requirements May use same runs to fulfill both double Q requirements and 4 standard and 4 JWW requirements if they meet the minimum YPS requirements Note: To compute the YPS, take the yardage for your dog s jump height and divide it by the dog s actual running time. In the standard class, do not alter the dog s actual time for the table count (this is already factored in). Example: Yardage = 182 yards. Dog s actual time = 53.69 seconds YPS = 3.39 All times and YPS s listed shall be rounded to the 2 nd decimal place. Major International Sweepstakes Class Scores (ISC Class): Clean run scores from the following ISC Classes at 14, 18 and 26 inches may be used to fulfill the minimum requirements of 4 Std/4 JWW requirements. A clean run consists of a run without time or course faults. Minimum YPS requirements are waived for these scores, as long as the dog is under the course time set by the judge for that class. Two ISC jumpers and two ISC standard scores may be used to fulfill the minimum requirements. May 2013, Two Rivers Agility Club of Sacramento, California August 2013 BARK of Central Mississippi, Hattiesburg, PA August 2013 Dog Agility Sport Handlers, Costa Mesa, CA December 2013 Western Reserve Kennel Club Cleveland, Ohio January 2014 - Rose City Cluster, Portland, Oregon January 2014 Blue Ridge Agility, Fletcher, NC ISC Combined Class Winners Combined scores from ISC Jumpers and Standard classes at the above events will be used to award the Combined ISC Class Award. Only Clean Run (no time or course faults) scores will be used to compute the Combined Score. The Combined Class winner from the 14, 18 and 26 inch height is invited to attend Team Tryouts. They do not need to fulfill the requirement of the 4/4 scores nor are they required to achieve the 2 double Q scores. The dog must have an approved pedigree and also fulfill any requirements for specific rabies shots or titering. The team must also send in all the required information with the fees and the entry form and meet all the other basic eligibility noted in this document. The handler at tryouts must be the same handler that won the combined award. Please note: it is important that your dog s microchip and/or tattoo numbers be on your rabies certificates. You will likely need to ask your vet to manually add this information and sign it as it is not common practice to include it. ISO compatible microchips are the only ones recognized in Europe.

AWC TEAM SCORING Two spots per jump height will be guaranteed on the team based on their performance at these Tryouts. There will be four rounds total over two days and every dog will run every round two JWW and two standard runs. Standard course time (SCT) for each round will be set based on an average of the 2 fastest clean rounds plus 10% (including dogs trying out only for the EO team). Time faults will be rounded up to the nearest multiple of 5 (eg: 1.19 seconds over SCT would be scored as 5 faults, 8.32 seconds over SCT would be scored as 10 faults). AWC Team spot #1 comes from rounds 1-3 of competition - cumulative score (faults, then time). AWC Team spot #2 comes from top placements points earned in all four rounds of competition. o Dogs placing in the top 50% of their jump height in any round get points (8 points for 1 st place, 7 points for 2 nd place, etc. if there were 16 dogs). Dogs must have a clean round to get points for that round. o The dog with the highest number of points wins spot #2 o If there is a tie in points, the dog that placed in the most rounds wins the spot. If there is still a tie, the dog with the most 1 st places wins if needed, the dog with the most 2 nd places wins, etc. If still tied, the dogs with the highest number of seconds under SCT from placing rounds wins. If the same dog wins spot #1 and spot #2, spot #2 will be given to the dog with the next highest number of placement points. AWC Team spots #3 and #4 will be chosen by the Coach and Team management after the ITT. NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS Exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any dogs and/or children that create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may be asked to leave. Scores from the Tryouts will not count towards AKC titles or MACH points because these scores will not be recorded by the AKC Records Dept. There will be a $25.00 service fee for any returned checks. All rights to video tape, televise, advertise, photograph, promote and otherwise exploit this event are vested in the American Kennel Club. All persons and the owners of the animals in attendance who appear in any resultant effort grant the use of their likeness and voice without further consent. Exhibitors may video tape their own individual runs for personal use. The candidate showing the dog at Tryouts will be the only handler allowed to compete with the dog at the EO or AWC.
