Page 3 The Scribe November 2013 DASH Member Accomplishments in 2013 We started competing in AKC in May and Murray (my Novice A dog - both in agility and in life!) has since earned his NA, NAJ, NF, OA, OAJ, OF, AX and AXJ titles. Since April he's also earned his CL-1, CL-2 and CL-3 CPE titles. More importantly, he's becoming more confident both in and out of the ring, and we've been able to use trial weekends to work on socialization. I may as well start a photo series called "Murray in the laps of others" as we've found that he feels less threatened approaching someone and going up on their lap than having them pet him right away. We're having a total blast and have met so many nice agility people this past summer! ~Tamar Fuhrer " SUMMY", a 16 1/2 year old Chinese Crested Hairless wonder dog,... a.k.a. CH Sharbelle Kumba Thamani, CDX, GN, VER, RE, NAP, NJP, BN, GO, NAOA, JWW, CGC, TDI, topped off his competitive lifetime career by being inducted into the Chinese Crested Hall of Fame in Aug 2013. Summy is the first Chinese Crested ever (and the only one so far) to earn all 12 required legs and all four titles of the Regular American Kennel Club Optional Obedience Title Events, completing his final leg on April 27, 2013. "Summy" has been a member of DASH and competed in Agility, Obedience and Rally since he was rescued at age 4 1/2 5 years old. At age 14 a congenital heart condition precluded any continued competition events in Agility, so having already earned his Rally Excellent title, Summy returned to top off his career in the obedience ring. ~Handled by Owner - Trainer Virginia Turner-Thompson

Page 5 The Scribe November 2013 (continued from page 1) Potluck: If you plan on attending, please think about bringing a main or side dish as we typically have an abundance of desserts. The eating usually starts an hour after we begin (and continues throughout the day). Gift Exchange: If you plan on participating, bring a wrapped gift (no more than $20 for either a human or dog). Some people choose to bring a gift for each dog they have, but that is optional. The humans seem to enjoy this game immensely, but the dogs are usually the ones that win (as the gifts are typically for the dogs). If you need ideas, last year beds and chew treats seemed to be popular. Meeting: There will be a general membership meeting at 3pm. If you are trialing, please try to come by for the meeting. The board members will be voted upon (there are many positions open this year) and club business is discussed.
