National Association of Canine Scent Work, LLC ODOR RECOGNITION TESTS Odors: Birch, Anise, Clove Sunday, March 6, 2016 Oriole Dog Training Club 9 Azar Court Halethorpe, MD 21227 Entry method First Received Entries Open: Fri Jan 8 Entries close Feb 26 Test will not be held if 30 or less dogs are registered, participants will be notified at time of closing if test is not being held, and monies will be refunded. Entries limited to 100 Test Site Hours: 7:30am- 4pm (or whenever finished) Handler Briefing at 8:00am** **Due to accommodating 2 dogs per handler, and depending on number of entries there may be separate groups with separate handler briefings. We will advise all entrants of times with your final confirmation. There is no crating space. Dogs must be crated in your car until they are being tested. The parking lot is paved asphalt. There is NO SHADE so please bring shade as needed. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES. No flexi leads are to be used outside of the testing area.

Entry Requirements The handler of the dog must be a current member of the NACSW. The Dog must be registered with the NACSW. It is recommended that you have a scorebook with his/her own registration number; those without for a fee, can after the ORT mail in their score book to NACSW for results recording. For information on how to register or become a member go to www.nacsw.net Entry Fee and Second Dog Policy $30 entry fee/dog. We will be accommodating 2 dogs per handler Bitches in season: MUST wear britches and will run as last dogs of the day Closing Date Fri Feb 26, 2016 Overnight mail entries must have the signature request waived Wait List In the event, the maximum entries of 100 is reached the secretary will maintain a waitlist. Participants will be listed based on their first come entry basis. Participants will be notified of a testing slot when the secretary is informed of cancellations. If you do not want to wait or no longer desire a slot, please inform the Test Secretary at lindobes@verizon.net so the next person on the list can be contacted if a spot should open up. Your payment will be held until your accept a slot. Check and Refund Policy Checks without sufficient funds may result in non-entry unless bad check fee of $25 fee is paid to hosting agency with entry fee by money order or cashier s check within 1 week of notification. Cancellations made on or before Fri Feb 26 will be refunded minus a $10 administration fee for each dog entered. No refunds after Fri Feb 26. Cancellations may be made by e-mailing the Test Secretary Linda Grskovich at lindobes@verizon.net Please be considerate to your sportsmen and contact the Test Secretary as soon as you know you cannot participate, we may have a waitlist for testing The secretary is not responsible for lost e-mails that do not reach her. The secretary will send an email back to the participant confirming the cancellation within 36 business hours. ENTRY FEES shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, or excused by the NACSW official or judge. Video/Photography Policy ORT participants are allowed to have a friend or family member video/photograph their test. ORT participants are not allowed to video/photograph one another. ORT hosts are not obligated to provide someone to video/photograph Use of Treats/Rewards at this Facility This facility has Sprint Turf and certain treats if dropped onto the flooring are hard to retrieve and cause cleaning and environmental concerns, therefore the facility has a policy that certain food/treats may not be used in their arena. Most notably, this includes crumbly hard dog treats, cheese balls or popcorn, cooked chicken, and baby food. It you have been using these rewards, we ask for this one-

time event, please reward your dog with soft dry dog treats, meat roll, hot dogs, jerky, freeze dried treats, string cheese, peperoni, or mini marshmallows. Facility Elimination Policy In the event that your dog should eliminate urine or otherwise on the Sprint Turf, the facility will charge the competitor a $5.00 fee for the cleaning of and replacement of the rubber foundation of the Sprint Turf. Please be sure you have your dog eliminate prior to testing on the grass designated areas. Directions to Trial Site: Via I-95 Take Exit 50A to merge onto S Caton Ave. At the first light, turn right onto Joh Ave. Go 0.7 miles on Joh Ave. At the light, turn left onto Benson Ave. Go 0.5 miles on Benson Ave. Shortly after seeing the firehouse on your right, turn left onto Knecht Ave, then make an immediate left into Azar Ct. Oriole is on the right hand side. CHECK-IN: May be 7:30am however email confirmations will be sent with actual times HANDLER BRIEFING: 8:00 am or based on groupings. Email will be sent with specific schedules Exhibitors should bring their dog s SCOREBOOK with them to the test. Results are recorded in the SCOREBOOK. The scorebook is not necessary to take to the ORT. NO SPECTATORS ARE PERMITTED IN THE SEARCH AREA during the ORT except NACSW officials, adults accompanying a minor, CNWI-in-training, or immediate family members/friends of the dog/handler team currently being tested. ENTRIES: TELEPHONE, FAX, UNSIGNED ENTRIES, AND ENTRIES RECEIVED WITHOUT FEES cannot be accepted. RETURNED CHECKS do not constitute a valid entry fee. A charge of $25.00 will be made for each returned check. ENTRIES MUST BE MADE ON THE ATTACHED ENTRY FORM. NO ENTRY SHALL BE MADE AND NO ENTRY SHALL BE ACCEPTED, WHICH SPECIFIES ANY CONDITIONS AS TO ITS ACCEPTANCE. OWNERS are responsible for errors in making out entry forms.

EXPRESS MAIL entries must include signature permitting them to be left at the secretary s address without recipient s signature. DOGS PRESENT will not be permitted to roam. Exhibitors are responsible for the behavior of their dogs. The owner of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready when it is to be judged. Be prepared to keep your dog in your car when not being tested or on leash at all times. No flexi leads outside of the testing area. THERE IS NO INSIDE CRATING AT THIS TEST FEMALES IN SEASON MUST wear britches, and must potty in designated areas. Females in season will run as last dogs of the day. Please notify us immediately if your dog goes into season DOGS PARTICIPATING in ORT must be at least six months of age and must appear to be healthy on trial day and should be current on all vaccinations required by law. Acknowledgement of entry acceptance/confirmation: Will be made when entries are processed for those handlers that provide an email address. If you require a confirmation via UPSP, you must provide a self-addressed stamped envelope with your entry. BASIC DESCRIPTION OF TEST to successfully pass an ORT a dog must identify the location of the target odor and the handler must correctly call an alert within a three-minute time period. The Odor Recognition Test consists of a drill type exercise which requires 12 closed, but vented boxes set up in a pattern of one or two rows, spaced a minimum of 48 apart. The ORT is conducted on leash. Complete information can be obtained on the NACSW website. All exhibitors should obtain and review a copy of the NACSW K9 NOSE WORK RULE BOOK.
