GUIDELINES FOR THE PARTICIPANTS (March 2018) in the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2019 IN LIBRAMONT European Holstein and Red Holstein Confederation (EHRC) and HOLSTEIN LIBRAMONT 2019 are the organizers of the European Championship 2019 All information available on www.holsteinlibramont2019.com

By sending the completed registration form to Libramont Holstein 2019, the Participating Country accept the conditions of the present guidelines. 1. Organizer The All-European Holstein and Red Holstein Championship 2019 is organized, with the supervision of the EHRC, by the Libramont Exhibiton & Congress with the technical support of the Walloon Breeding Association (AWE asbl). The organizing committee is written below as Holstein Libramont 2019. Only a Breed Organisation that is a member of EHRC may participate at the European Championship Show 2019. The Breed Organisations participating are written below as Participating Country. 2. Venue Libramont Exhibition and Congress, Rue des Aubépines 50, 6800 Libramont (BELGIUM) 3. 4. Assistance and veterinary service - Assistance From arrival until departure of the animals, assistance is provided to all exhibitors, namely for: - unloading the cows, - animal health documents and animal identity control, - occupying the country booth, - storing equipment and fodder, - veterinary services during 24 hours per day. A contact person for the Participating Countries is provided by the HOLSTEIN LIBRAMONT 2019. - Veterinary service Veterinary service will be provided 24 hours per day for the duration of the event. The official veterinary service is the only service that may be used by exhibitors during the entire event. All medicines must be approved by the official veterinary service. The list of the medicines available will be provided to the Participating Countries. All treatments to any animal must be administered or supervised by the official veterinary service. 5. Lodging of herdsmen and staff The herdsmen will be hosted without cost in rooms (dormitory) in the Libramont exhibition fairground. Food and beverages will be available to herdsmen free of charge at the fairground. Number of herdsmen: max.1 person per cow. Holstein Libramont 2019 will organize on the fairground a special lodging/village for the Participating Countries, according to the registration form requests. All beds reserved and not used by the herdsmen team for sleeping during the entire event will be billed to the Participating Country. Any degradation of the lodging infrastructures will also be the financial responsibility of the Participating Country. Please send the number of persons requiring lodging to Holstein Libramont 2019 with the registration form before 13 th April 2018 6. Program and schedule of the European Young Breeders Showmanship Young Breeders Competition : showmanship and clipping (not type competition) All EHRC countries can participate (including those countries not entering cows or nor present at the show) Heifers are supplied by Holstein Libramont 2019 and will be assigned based upon the height of the participants. Each country can participate with 2 young breeders (1 junior and 1 senior) Classes of age: (age defined as on 12 th April 2019) 16-20 years old: junior 21-25 years old: senior The participants have to be at the show ground on 10 th April 2019. They will be responsible for the animals assigned until on 13 th April 2019. Judging of quality of clipping on 12 th April 2019 Page 3 of 10

Health regulations The organizer, in consultation with the local veterinary authority will publish the health regulations in a separate document, according to the health rules of the Belgian veterinary authorities in conjunction with those of the exhibiting country. This document will be available, as well as all the other documents, on www.holsteinlibramont2019.com 8. Animal registration, catalogue and championships For registration before, the Participating Country has to complete the registration form and send it to Holstein Libramont 2019 before on 13 th April 2018. a) General conditions for registration Each country can participate with a number of cows according to the following rules : Number of cows irrespective of color per country : maximum 30, minimum 5. The organizer recommend the total number minimum 5 cows or 8 or by step of 5 with a maximum 30. Number of cows per breed: maximum 15 According to the global registrations and the housing capacity, Holstein Libramont 2019 have the right to limit the total number of animals of a country, in order to assure a representativeness of as much countries as possible, and to offer appropriate housing conditions for all animals. The restriction of animals will be done in agreement with the EHRC show Committee. In the catalogue, both reserves and regulars are listed. b) Terms of registration The catalogue will include reserve cows: There may be 100 % more reserves than the number of entries (e.g. entries: 10 cows, show-catalogue : 20 cows). The final registration of competing cows and reserves must be done before on 1st March 2019 c) Requirements for registration HOLSTEIN and RED HOLSTEIN 20 % of the cows must be 1 st calvers: heifers must have calved up to 32 months. No restriction on age on show day. 20 % of the cows must be 2 nd calvers: age defined as on the 12 th April 2019 up to 60 months. All cows must be born in Europe, have been registered for 12 months in the participating countries Page 4 of 10

herd-book and must be milk recorded in the participating country. Only black & white cows will be admitted in Holstein classes and only red & white cows will be admitted in Red Holstein classes. d) Catalogue Each Participating Country has to register the animals for the catalogue following the recommendation of Holstein Libramont 2019 (to be communicated later). The verification of the participation conditions for each animals of its delegation, as well as the communicated values (pedigree, milk production ) for each cow, are under the responsibly of the Participating Country. e) Classes Class allocation after the arrival of the cows : HOLSTEIN - 1 st calvers classes: junior - Cows with 2 calves: intermediate - Cows with at least 3 calvings: senior RED HOLSTEIN - 1 st and 2 nd calvers classes: junior - Cows with at least 3 calvings: senior The number of classes will be such as to have a balanced number of cows in each class. There will be a best udder of each class. f) Championships The first two cows of each class will participate in the championship. HOLSTEIN : Junior: Champion + Reserve : Intermediate: Champion + Reserve : Senior: Champion + Reserve : Grand Champion 2019 : Chosen among Junior Champion, Intermediate Champion and Senior Champion RED HOLSTEIN : Junior : Champion + Reserve Senior : Champion + Reserve Grand Champion 2019 : Chosen among Junior Champion and Senior Champion European Holstein and Red Holstein Champion Group 2019 Page 5 of 10

g) Country groups Among the participating cows, 4 (four) will be selected by each country and per breed to compose a uniform group. Age composition is open. It is not allowed to mix Red and Black Holsteins. Individual breeders animals may only be entered into the Country Group Championship with the authorization and approval of the Participating Country. h) Caution A guarantee of 250 euros per cow will be invoiced to each Participating Country at registration. The registration will be considered complete by Holstein Libramont 2019 only after the payment of the guarantee. The bill will be addressed to the Participating Country in the 10 days following the reception of the completed registration form. This guarantee has to be paid to the bank account mentioned on the bill. The amount of 250 per animal that is registered and does not attend the European Championship will be retained by Holstein Libramont 2019. The remaining part of the guarantee will be fully refunded to the Participating Country, on the condition that all outstanding charges to the Participating Country have been paid, according to the current guidelines. The bank account for refunding the guarantee must be communicated by the Participating Country on the registration form. 9. Judges Individual championship Holstein: to be agreed by the EHRC Red Holstein: to be agreed by the EHRC European Young Breeders Showmanship: to be agreed by the EHRC Country Groups Championship: one Country Judge put forward by each participating countries 10. Rules Committee The composition and the purpose of the Rules Committee are described in the Code of Ethics of Holstein Libramont 2019 for the 2019 European Championship in Libramont. The Rules Committee will have the authorization to inspect animals and related materials to determine if violations have occurred. Instructions of the Rules Committee have to be obeyed during the entire exhibition. The Rules Committee has to be operative before, during and after the show; if violations have occurred, this Committee will prevent the cow, or the cows, from entering the ring. Page 6 of 10

11. EHRC Terms Of Reference - EHRC European Showing The Terms of reference - EHRC EUROPEAN Showing can be view on the EHRC website. It will be applied during the European Championship Libramont 2019. The document defining the TOR of European Showing has to be signed by the owner of each participating cow, the team manager, herdsmen and fitters employed by the breed association of each participating country. a) Code of Ethics The Committee of the EHRC has adopted the Code of Ethics for the European Championship. The Code of Ethics of Libramont 2019 is described in terms of reference. The Rules Committee will act in accordance with the Code of Ethics. Official control: the official veterinary service to be sole arbitrator for the administration of medicines and treatments. b) European Championship Show Patrol Group The purpose of the Patrol Group is to ensure that every animal at the Show is healthy and is presented as naturally as possible. The Patrol Group monitors compliance with the rules defined in the TOR for Showing Cattle. The Show Patrol Group will have the authorisation to inspect animals and related materials to determine if violations have occurred. Instructions of the Show Patrol Group have to be obeyed during the entire exhibition. The Show Patrol Group has to be operative before, during and after the show; if violations have occurred, this Show Patrol Group will prevent the cow, or the cows, from entering the ring. c) European Championship Show Welfare Group The purpose of the Welfare Group is to ensure that every animal entering the Show Ring is healthy and is presented to the Judge as naturally as possible. The Show Welfare Group controls the respect of welfare of participating animals and is present ringside throughout the show. The Welfare Group comprises of an EHRC Committee member, a member of the European Judging Panel and a veterinarian. d) TOR for Showing Cattle The Committee of the EHRC has adopted the TOR of European Showing for the All-European Championship. The TOR of European Showing is described in a specific document. The Show Patrol Group and the Show Welfare Group will act in accordance with the TOR of European Showing. Page 7 of 10

e) Ultrasound checks and Blood Samples The udders of the following cows will be checked by ultrasound : - the first 3 cows in each class and - the winner of the best udder in each class Every animal failing the ultrasound examination is automatically excluded from further participation in the show. A blood sample will be taken on the first two cows in each class, plus suspect Cows. Samples may be analysed for anti-inflammatory drugs. 12. Show Committee The organizing committee is supported by a Show Committee which is responsible for any decision beyond technical questions. The European Championship Working Group will be acting as Show Committee. Members of this working group are : - Laszlo Bognar Hungary, Chairman of the Working Group - Giorgio Burchiellaro Italy, CEO of ANAFI - Suzanne Harding U.K., Secretary General EHRC - Denis Biéri France, CEO of Prim Holstein France 13. Sponsorship The publication of the name of sponsors is allowed but limited in the national information booth stand. The presentation of the pedigree will be standardised by HOLSTEIN LIBRAMONT 2019 and created with the information giving by each Participating Country. 14. European MASTER Sale The Holstein LIBRAMONT 2019 have contracted the organization of the European Master Sale to 3 partners (Eurogenes Dairy Breeding, Roccafarm Livestock and European Livestock Services), this means that the sale is not under the auspice/name of the EHRC. Auction regulations will be given in a separate document. 15. Clothing People presenting the animals in the ring must wear white clothes (shirt without logo and trousers) and a tie. The cows must be presented with uniform halters. Page 8 of 10

Single classes: Only one person per animal is allowed in the ring. Country groups: Each country should provide a person to carry the national flag during the Country Group Championship. One additional person per group is allowed in the ring. National flags will be provided by the Organising Committee. 16. Infrastructure & Equipment An information booth including standard equipment (one information desk, 1 table, 4 chairs, electricity and lighting) will be available per country, free of charge, as well as a storage room near the information booth. The clipping area will be close to the stalls of the cows. A stand plan will be distributed to each country by HOLSTEIN LIBRMAONT 2019. Additional equipment is available at the Participating Countrys expense. The milking has to be done with a mobile milking machine. A mobile milking machine will be available for each country asking for. A washing area for the milking units will be available. The milk will be collected. An area and equipment will be available for washing the cows. Each country is responsible for keeping its own space tidy. An inventory of the material made available to the Participating Country will be made at the arrival of the animals, and signed for by the team manager of each Participating Country and by Holstein Libramont 2019. Before departure, it is the team leaders responsibility to return the material to Holstein Libramont 2019. Control of the material will be organized directly by Holstein Libramont 2019. Any missing or damaged material will be under the financial responsibility of the Participating Country. Straw and sawdust for bedding and fodder will be available. 17. Responsibility of EHRC and Holstein LIBRAMONT 2019 The competition is held under the auspices of the EHRC. The EHRC is responsible for all the rules of the All-European Championship and accepts full liability for the decisions of the Rules Committee. Holstein Libramont 2019 is responsible for the administration of the fairground, the organization of the event and the technical aspects of the All-European Championship. Holstein Libramont 2019 and the official veterinarians are responsible for the administration and application of the animal health regulations. Page 9 of 10

18. Responsibility of Participating Country The Participating Country is responsible for the application of the guidelines of Holstein Libramont 2019 by its delegation. They will be responsible of any non-respect of it. Particularly any lost or degradation of material, equipment, and housing made available to the country delegation during Libramont 2019 will be at the charge of the country organization having registered the animals. a) Team Each participating Breed Organization will be responsible of their team. They must nominate a team manager as contact person for the Organizing Committee/EHRC. The team manager has to be present from the arrival of the animals to the fairground until their departure. The name of each team manager and Herdsmen must be communicated to the organizing committee before the 1 st March 2019. b) Code of Ethics The team manager will be responsible for the observance of the Code of Ethics of Libramont 2019. Holstein Libramont 2019 is responsible for the administration of the fairground, the organisation of the event and the technical aspects of the European Championship. Holstein Libramont 2019 and the official veterinarians are responsible for the administration and application of the animal health regulations. c) Insurance During the Show the organizers will be responsible for General Insurance. The responsibility of insurance for the show cows rests with the participating country, this includes transportation. 19.
