PAGE 2 NOVEMBER 2011 VOLUM E 1, ISSUE 1 Presidents Report-Joseph McGee Dear Homeowners; I hope everyone is having a pleasant Holiday season. The Board met in November to complete the budget for 2012. While putting the budget together we still had to make sure, we still maintain the park as we all are accustomed to seeing. After going over the budget items and trying to maintain the park as needed. We have not raised the dues for a few years, this year we tentatively approved a raise in the dues of $5 a month. Here are a few of the items being done this year, finish the final phase of WIFI connections, adding additional lights and cameras in the storage yard, adding additional pond rip rap. We had a very successful year in activities, please markdown the upcoming New Years Eve party on December 31, this will be a 3 day weekend, so come on down. The next meeting on January 14, 2012. The purpose of this meeting will be to approve the budget for 2012. There is a copy of the proposed budget on our website. March 14,2012 will be the next meeting in and we will be discussing activities for the upcoming season. If you have ideas of interest, would like to chair an event, or work an event. Please show up for this meeting. The Board would like to thank everyone for taking the time to keep Assateague Pointe looking like THE PLACE TO BE IN OCEAN CITY. This also helps the homes value to continue to rise. On behalf of my family and myself I would like to Thank everyone for their cards, thoughts and prayers through our much trying times these past few months. The loss of my granddaughter in September and my personal health conditions. I am recovering very well. The loss of my Granddaughter will take more time. I know she has touched many people in her short life time and will be missed by all. If you did not know she was my assistant at the park. Thanks again for the homeowners support, Your President, Property Managers Report-Troy Purnell Dear Assateague Pointe Homeowner, Happy Holidays and a Healthy and Prosperous New Year to you and your family. 1) HOA Dues: After careful consideration the Board of Directors has tentatively approved an increase in dues of $5.00 per month. This is the first increase in 2 years and is necessary to maintain the high standards everyone expects at Assateague Pointe. The detailed budget will be posted on the website for 30 days. After that we will formally vote on the increase. Even after this increase we still maintain the lowest HOA fees of any comparable development. 2) Winter Weather: Cold weather will be here soon. Just a reminder, if you have not winterized, leave your heat on 50 degrees and be sure your heat tape is plugged in. 3) Boat Storage: It is time to renew your storage spot for 2012. The cost is $50.00 and must be paid before February 15, 2012. After that date the cost will be $75.00. Please renew on time, we have a waiting list of owners who need a spot. Failure to renew on time could result in your spot being assigned to someone else. 4) Board of Directors- The next Board meeting is scheduled for January 14, 2012 at 9AM. I hope to see you there. If you have any questions, or are aware of anything that needs attention, please let us know by informing Valerie at the front office and we will look into it. Thanks for your support. G. Troy Purnell Thanks for your support G. Troy Purnell Resort Homes, Inc. Property Manager ECC News-Cathy Ortel Dear Neighbors, Thank you for all your cooperation during the busy summer season. We appreciate all your help in making sure the Pointe is the place to be in O.C. Hearings have begun with regard to property violations. Two homeowners went thru the appeal process and one has been fined $500.00 and the other is pending. There were 2 owners who didn t request an appeal, so their fines are $1,000.00 and $200.00. There are 2 more pending hearings. The dog leash law that is on page 3 of this newsletter explains the leash law. Anyone that doesn t adhere to the rules will be fined $100.00 per occurrence. We have one homeowner that is being fined for having a dog off the leash and not in a designated dog are Thank you to all our homeowners who have done an excellent job on keeping their yards and homes up. This is a place we can all enjoy.

VOLUM E 1, ISSUE 1 NOVEMBER 2011 PAGE 3 Vacationing New York Dog Extended his stay Pet news from the Humane Society On July 2nd when Shuie, a year and a half old white Maltese escaped from his owners who were on vacation here from New York. They had just adopted him about a month before coming on vacation. The family was about to return home when Shuie ran off. A local friend of the dog s owners notified the shelter and made up posters twice and sent them to Kenille. The posters were posted in Assateague Pointe, and Frontier Town. Kenille, Beverly, workers from Assateague Pointe, workers at Frontier Town and 2 vacationing ladies from Pennsylvania, Joan Schell and Jane Picking, searched for Shuie for the next 11 days. He was spotted in Snug Harbor, then Assateague Pointe, then between Assateague Pointe and Frontier Town. The ladies took time out of their day several times each day to walk around looking and checking the trap. They reported sightings to Kenille as well. Shuie was sighted running down Rt. 611, in the ditch, and then running down a lane into the woods. The lane is blocked by a gate. After work Kenille and Kelly put up new signs and checked the trap at Frontier Town. They then walked about half way down the lane and decided to set a second trap. They had brought cat food and a Wendy s hamburger to place in the trap. Along the lane there were signs that read Do Not Enter and Spray Area. There were pipes that looked like they sprayed occasionally but they were unsure what that was. Fortunately they later learned from a county employee that he had turned off the pipes, knowing there was a lost dog in the area. Kenille and Kelly tested the trap twice, said a prayer and left. They informed the 2 ladies about the 2nd trap. They volunteered to check the traps and the very next morning there was Shuie!! Finally! Kenille was called and she found Shuie full of ticks, hungry, but basically okay. A very happy ending to quite an ordeal. Kenille and many volunteers spent a lot of time in the heat of summer to rescue this little lost dog from the unknown. Shuie is back with his owners in New York. As a side note, a pig from Frontier Town was also missing during the same time. A county worker found him a couple days later and returned him. Kelly joked with the county worker that perhaps the pig and Shuie found each other and became buddies, lost together! Your Ocean City Humane Society New Dog Area Restrictions-ECC and Board of Directors We have received multiple complaints from homeowners regarding dogs that are being allowed to be off leash in different parts of the community. Due to the fact that more and more dogs are at the Pointe, we are being asked to take more action in addressing this problem. Our dogs include SMALL and LARGE breeds and some friendly and some not so friendly. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY ALL DOGS ARE TO BE ON A LEASH WHEN OUTSIDE THE HOUSE AND COURTYARD AREA. WEARING A COLLAR OR BODY HARNESS ALONE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE: THEY MUST HAVE A LEASH ON AND BE UNDER THE OWNER S CONTROL WHEN NOT IN THOSE AREAS. When visiting the dog park, the dog must be walked into the park on a leash, which is not to be removed until both gates are closed behind you. The ECC, Board of Directors, and employees at the Pointe will be documenting sightings of dogs that are not in compliance and the owner will receive a fine of $100.00 per occurrence. There will not be any warnings issued, this is a county law which will and must be enforced. Any confrontation issues between dogs and other owners and pets will result in a call being made to the local Police and appropriate animal control agencies. We appreciate, need, and expect your full cooperation to guarantee that all pets and families are safe when in our community.
