ACBA President- Karen DeHaven I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the ACBA membership to the 2018 ACBA Specialty Show. The members of the Michigan Cavy Breeders have been working hard the past two years to make sure everyone has the best possible show experience. The awards committee has come up with some unique awards that are sure to delight everyone lucky enough to win one. The ACBA Specialty Show is our national show, the ACBA s most important show of the year. I encourage everyone to enjoy themselves, be good sports, make new friendships and strengthen old friendships. To support both the ACBA and Michigan s raffles. To take part in the silent auction benefiting the ACBA youth scholarship fund and most importantly the ACBA s Youth Royalty, Achievement and Management contests. Come participate and enjoy the best Michigan has to offer! MCBA President- Becky Dubbink Welcome to the 2018 ACBA specialty show Motorin to Michigan. I have been actively involved in the Cavy fancy for 12 years now, raising Abyssinian, White Crested, Coronets, and Silkie. I have attended multiple ARBA conventions, and ACBA specialty shows. I have stepped back from the Cavy world a little bit to pursue my dream of showing and raising Dalmatian dogs. The MCBA has been planning and looking forward to putting on a wonderful specialty show for all of you. As president of the Michigan Cavy Breeders Association, I would like to wish you all good luck. I hope you enjoy the company of great friends, nice animals, and enjoy the beauty of Michigan. Safe travels, and Hope to see all of you at the show! Thank you for your support. Page 5
MCBA Vice President- Susan Spaulding As Vice President of the Michigan Cavy Breeders Association; I would like to welcome everyone to Michigan the land of the Great Lakes. I was very pleased when we chose Motoring to Michigan as or national show logo as I am a thirty year plus UAW Ford Motor Company employee. We started with cavies through the wonderful program of 4-H. My youngest daughter Shelby fell in love with the White Crested breed seven years ago and we were able to start our breeding herd thanks to the generosity of some of the country s top breeders! We also have a small herd of long haired breeds and I have been working on American roans for a couple of years. I started as the supporting Parent of my daughter showing youth and last year decided it was time to start entering Open myself. I have shown numerous varieties of animals over the years and have to say I have never experienced the wonderful comradery and friendships in any other showing experience. We really are a Cavy Family and I would like to welcome everyone to our Home state and wish you all the best of luck showing these wonderful little animals. Page 6

2018 ACBA Specialty Judges John Backman- New York I started raising cavies in 1995, Americans in Golden Agouti, Roan and occasionally Red; there's so much I love about this fancy: all the usual things plus...trying to raise beautiful animals; raising what I want to see when I walk into the caviary; taking an underappreciated variety and moving it forward just a bit. (I had the opportunity to do this with Lilacs, and to some extent now with Golden Agouti Roans.) Michael Franke- Texas I started raising cavies in 2003, over the years I have raised 9 breeds of cavy, Abyssinian, Teddy, Texel and American being the most prominent. My favorite memory in this hobby was receiving my judge s license in the mail the day I got back from my high school graduation, I still feel great pride over that. I have had the pleasure of honoring Caleb Thomas with a lifetime judges award and feel lucky to call so many wonderful fellow judges, friends. At this time I am currently a member of both the ARBA Cavy and ARBA Rabbit standards committees. Jim Hupp- Indiana I have been raising cavies for over 40 years. Over the years I have raised American, American Satin, Peruvians, Silkies and Teddies. It has been a privilege and honor to be selected by my peers, to Judge BIS at multiple ARBA Conventions. I have served on the ARBA Standards committee for 6 years, 18 Years on the ARBA Continuing Education committee, have been Cavy Liaison for several ARBA Conventions, Show Chairman for two ACBA National Specialties, ACBA V.P. President from 2002 to 2006, ACBA President from 2006 to 2012, Chairperson of the ACBA Standards Committee & Chairman of the ARBA Cavy Sub Committee. It is wonderful to be able to travel, see beautiful animals and wonderful friends anywhere I go! Steve Lussier- Tennessee I started raising cavies in 1972, I attained my judging license in 1977. My lovely wife, Margie, and I raise Cream, White and Roan Americans. The best thing about raising and showing cavies is all the friends we have made through the hobby, we get to travel together to shows all over. We have recently moved to Tennessee to be closer to our cavy family and we just love it! Looking forward to seeing you all in Michigan! Robert Spitzer- Arizona I first started raising cavies in 1971. Over time I have raised most every breed and most every variety. However, today I am only concentrating on Chuck Steel Invisibles in the rainbow, shadow, and eclipse color varieties. Currently my favorite thing about the hobby is that judging allows me to spend a little time with friends in various areas of the country. Jason Whitehurst- I have been raising cavies for 30 years. Over the years I have raised all breeds, my favorites were Peruvian, Silkies, and Black Americans. My favorite memory is going to my first ARBA convention in Pomona in 1991; meeting Peggy Fry, Carol Sandler, Pam Brown, and other legends of the time. Peggy gave me her BOB Silkie Satin. I am current ARBA Cavy Standards Committee member and have been a cavy judge for 12 years. Outside of cavy shows I have run multiple marathons and love back packing and camping. Page 9
