WSSC Plymouth Show A message from Tim The Plymouth Show is one of the best club sponsored shows in the nation. We can all be very proud of the work done over the past 48 years to make this happen. Unfortunately, you only need to pick up any philatelic publication, or read any online articles to hear the opinion that our hobby is declining, and that stamp shows will become extinct as dealers and buyers move to the web. We can t deny that this will be our fate, unless there is a renewed interest. I refuse to concede without a fight and hope that you won t either. Earlier this year our club member, Alex Haimann, made an enthusiastic appeal at a club meeting for us to consider the possibility of making our 2019, 50th anniversary show, something special. Alex made a number of suggestions, some that were met with mild enthusiasm. I have made a number of recommendations to the committee regarding our anniversary show resulting in some lively discussions. The passion that exists for the show was apparent in our meetings. I hope that enthusiasm extends to our entire membership. Change is never easy, and it s easy to keep doing things the way we have always done them. The saying goes, if it ain t broke, don t fix it. I m not implying that our show is broken, however we aren t getting better. Another saying is if you re not moving forward, you re moving backward. Are we moving forward? My commitment to the club and the show is genuine. I want to help us move forward and hope you do too. Do you have ideas and are ready to help make them a reality? Contact me at showchair@plymouthshow.com. Your ideas are welcome, your participation is needed. I will be scheduling a January committee meeting, please consider how you can help the show.
