ADDITIONAL RULES 1. Owners and owners' agents are responsible for any errors on entry forms, for entering the same dog twice, or for entering a dog in a class for which it is not eligible. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event of errors or cancellations received after the close of entries, nor in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the judge or barred from competition by the action of the committee. Telephone, Telegraph, Fax and unsigned entries cannot be accepted. 2. If because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or to complete the Show, no refund of entry fee(s) will be made. 3. This show will be unbenched. Exhibitors should bring their dogs to the show grounds one hour before the scheduled time of judging and may be excused after their class is judged, if they are not needed for further judging. Dogs MUST compete in every class in which they are entered or for which they become eligible. 4. Dogs must be ready for judging. Owners or owners agents are solely responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring at the proper time. The Club and/or the Show Secretary will not be responsible for and are not obligated to provide a service for notifying exhibitors of breed or class judging. Judges will not wait for dogs holding up their rings. 5. The management will not be responsible for the loss or damage to any dogs, on or off the show grounds, whether the result of accident or any other cause. It is to be distinctly understood by all exhibitors that their dogs are to be in their custody and care at all times. 6. The Club may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or other causes, and no one shall have any claim or recourse against the Club or any official thereof. 7. All grooming must be done in areas specified by the club and exhibitors are required to keep their areas clean. 8. Trophies and other prizes will be awarded in the judging rings unless otherwise specified by the club. All claims for Trophies and other prizes must be made in the judging ring before completion of judging by the person handling the dog; such person shall be considered as the owner or owner s agent. The Secretary Office is to be notified at once in the event of any discrepancies. No trophies will be mailed. 9. Only dogs that are eligible to be shown under The American Kennel Club rules shall be allowed within the show precincts [AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows: Ch. 11, Sec. 11.] 10. A recording fee of 50 cents will be required for each dog at any licensed or member club show, obedience trial or tracking test and $1.50 AKC Event Service Fee. This recording fee and Event Service Fee is to be collected by the show-giving club and paid to the AKC. If a dog is entered in more than one class at a show, the recording fee is to be collected on the first entry only. AKC Rule, Ch. 11, Section 2. 11. The Show Giving Club, Show Secretary, their agents, employees, etc. assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assume no responsibility for injury to any children. 12. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. GPOESC may assess a collection fee; the amount charged by the bank, will be added to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same person will result in their being put on a cash only basis. Notice to Exhibitors American Kennel Club Rules Applying To Dog Shows, Chapter 11, Section 6: No entry may be changed or canceled unless notice of the change or cancellation is received in writing or by telegram by the Secretary or Show Secretary named in the premium list to receive entries, prior to the closing date and hour for entries, except that a correction may be made in the sex of a dog, or a dog may be transferred from one division of the Puppy Class to another at a show prior to the judging, and except that dogs which according to their owner s records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for a show, but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed or Variety competition, provided this transfer is made by the Secretary or Show Secretary at least one half hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging at the show. The entry and showing of dogs whose championship is unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owners records. If, at the end of the 90 days period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by The American Kennel Club, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed Competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by the AKC. Non-Regular Classes Involving Single Dog Entries *Veteran Dogs 7 years old and older *Veteran Bitches AKC, Chapter 11, Section 8 of the Dog Show Rules provides that Neutered dogs and spayed bitches would be allowed to compete in the Veteran Classes only at independent specialties and/or all-breed shows which do not offer any competitive classes beyond Best of Breed. Non-Regular Classes Involving Multiple Dog Entries (Entry does not have to be entered in a Regular Breed or Obedience Class) Stud Dog Class: Stud dog that is entered in Stud Dog Class and shown with no more than two of his get. Get need not be under the same ownership as Stud Dog. Get must be entered in one of the Regular Classes. Awards will be based entirely on merits of the get. As the judge s decision in this class will be based entirely on the merits of more than one dog, no one of the dogs making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed (Variety) by virtue of having won this class. Brood Bitch Class: Brood Bitch that is enter in Brood Bitch Class and shown with no more than two of her produce. Produce need not be under the same ownership as that of the Stud Dog. Produce must be entered in one of the Regular Classes. Awards will be based entirely on merits of the produce. The judge s decision in this class will be based entirely on the merits of more than one dog, no one of the dogs making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed (Variety) by virtue of having won this class. Brace Class: Effective January 1, 2005. A brace is defined as two dogs of the same recognized breed or variety that are similar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs competing in brace competition must have at least one common owner.

Best Puppy: The Greater Portland Old English Sheepdog Club, Inc. will offer after the Best of Breed judging the following competition for Best Puppy in Show. The dogs/bitches placing first in the 6-9 Puppy Class, and 9-12 Puppy Class from the Breed judging will compete for Best Puppy. Obedience The Obedience Classes at this Specialty Show will be a Combined Obedience Specialty. Regular Classes Novice A ~ Novice B ~ Open A ~ Open B ~ Utility A ~ Utility B Non - Regular Classes Pre Novice ~ Graduate Novice ~ Veterans (Veterans need to be at least 7 years old on the date of trial) PLEASE NOTE: We will not refund entry fees for bitches that come in season after closing date. Move ups will be allowed in this trial per AKC Regulations JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION 1. Novice Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the Show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. 2. Novice Intermediate Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. 3. Novice Senior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close have not won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. 4. Open Junior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present. 5. Open Intermediate Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present. 6. Open Senior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present. Junior handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition present after the closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice to the Open Class provided that this transfer is made by the Secretary or Show Secretary at least one half hour prior to the scheduled Start of any regular conformation judging or one half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show, whichever is earlier. Notice: Junior Handlers must include their AKC Junior Handler Number on each entry. You may obtain your Junior Identification number by calling AKC, Judges Education Department, (919) 816-3776. Be sure all information for Junior Showmanship Classes is entered on front and back of entry form. JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP PRIZES Best Junior Handler A Breed Related Item. Challenge Trophies For permanent possession trophies to be won three times by the exact same owner/s, not necessarily with the same dog not at consecutive shows. Winner will retain trophy for one (1) year. The winners name will be engraved on the trophy. Until permanently won, they will be available at the Great Portland Old English Sheepdog Club, Inc., Specialty Shows only and will be presented to the winners and photographs will be taken.
