Start/Tactics At the start, the Huntmaster will attempt to provide assistance to help you get the best time You dog may be excited and pulling Please try to keep control of your dog Prior to signaling the start, the Huntmaster will ask if you are ready to release your dog Please express your readiness verbally with a verbal yes or ready The Huntmaster will signal tally ho as a signal to release your dog Timing starts when your dog crosses the start line and not when you release your dog A release farther back behind the start line will give your dog the best chance to get up to speed before timing starts Most dogs run faster towards their favorite handler Run to mama is usually a better tactic than be released by mama Consider putting the person that knows the dog best at the finish line rather than the start Finish/Recovery There are forty yards run out after the finish line for your dog to stop Most dogs are running at top speed when they cross the finish line They are excited Fast dogs need room to stop Obedience training may not work Please work diligently to recover your dog and exit the field Entrant s cooperation at the finish is the number one assist in expediting efficiency We cannot restring the lure nor bring the next dog to the start until it is safe If you dog is a difficult catch, let us know If you need to bring a quarter-pounder with cheese to get your dog to come to you at the finish, we are ok with that We need for you to be able to retrieve your dog We will try to help (also see start/tactics above) Timers CSCA is attempting to use electronic timers, backed up by stopwatches Dogs that receive a no time, which occasionally happens with electronics, will be given the opportunity to rerun Verify your time, which should be available shortly after the conclusion of your run IMPORTANT RULES FOR THIS CSCA TEST Dogs, will be run on a first come, first served basis in so far as practical, but the Event Committee reserves the right to prescribe the order as conditions warrant Inspection: Inspections will be made immediately prior to entering the field for the runs Volunteers may run before the official start of each trial, may not be counted towards the entry limit, and may run both trials prior to the start of the first trial This way, trials can proceed at an efficient rate A Handlers Meeting will be held at the start of each event Acknowledgment of entries will be made as soon as practical after the closing date Should such acknowledgment not be received within a reasonable time, please contact the Field Secretary 3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND CONDITIONS Refunds and Fees Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Test Committee If because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the CSCA, it is impossible to open or to complete the trial, no refund of entry fees will be made Post-dated and returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee The Club will add a $20 collection fee to the amount of each returned check No smoking is permitted on the course No flexi-retracting leads on the trial site Exercise your dogs only in posted areas and clean up after them!
