Welcome to our first newsletter - Paws For Thought. We wanted to touch base with you, let you know what we have been up to and to keep you informed about any upcoming events. MEDIA COVERAGE Take a look we are in the news regarding an urgent situation. We have been bringing in a group of 40 kittens and cats outside since the fall. We urgently need assistance with fostering and adopting these cats. Click to see

URGENT CASE REQUIRING HOME BY JANUARY 31 st Sibling pair Cheeky Monkey and Panther urgently need a permanent home together. They were rescued last year, and have had unfortunate luck with fosters four homes in one year. Their current foster needs medical care and can no longer look after them. There are some great prizes to be won including gift certificates from Elgin Massage Clinic & Spa, a painted portrait of your pet from an amazing local artist, a gift certificate to one of Ottawa s top restaurants, prizes for the kitties and more Bids are accepted until midnight Jan 31 st, 2012. Bake Sale On Sat. Dec. 10, we held a bake sale at Critter Jungle Pet Store to raise funds for the homeless kitties. Special thank you to Peter, Lesley, Margo, Kyle, Sharon, Andrea, Critter Jungle Pet Store and everyone involved...! CAT HEALTH TIP Did you know that cats should avoid Baby Food, Canned tuna, Dog Food, Fat Trimmings, Liver, Milk and other dairy, Onions and Garlic (raw, cooked or powder), Raw eggs, Sugary Foods and table scraps? A complete list of foods to avoid for cats can be found here: http://www.feednfarm.com/petsandpoison.html VOLUNTEER If you would like to volunteer your skills, we are urgently seeking assistance from: Graphic designers and website designers Accountants / Bookkeepers Administrators Handy / crafty people who can build cat trees / cat scratching posts, sew and knit catnip pillows, cat beds, cat toys, etc to be sold on Our Shoppe to raise funds for our hungry and homeless rescue kitties.

Charitable Tax Receipts We are now able to provide tax receipts through our umbrella association, Helping Homeless Pets (a Canadian Registered Charity) by donating on the following link: http://www.canadahelps.org/givingpages/givingpage.aspx?gpid=16293 You can also sign up as a regular monthly donor (it s so easy!) and you can print out your tax receipt at any time! (Please keep in mind that it is only through this online account that we are able to provide tax receipts at this time.) Other ways to donate include: Mailing in a cheque Donation boxes available at Glebe Pet Hospital and Critter Jungle Your funds go directly to our vet towards spaying/ neutering, medications, and any other additional surgeries / treatments our rescue kitties require.
