Racing Pigeon Auction Genuine Sale Craig Porter QRPF Champion Flyer Stock & Young Birds Sunday 8 th June 2003 Liverpool Sale Centre Speed St, Liverpool SYDNEY Inspection from 10 30am Sale starts 1pm Sharp. For further information and catalogues please contact: Craig Porter (QRPF) 07 3890 1193 Shaun Elliott (07) 3824 3095 Syd Gard (FRP) 02 9311 2636 Graham Davison (SCF) 02 4229 2358 Gordon Greedy (CCF) 02 9759 7559 Electronic catalogues by email Len.Vanderlinde@nrm.qld.gov.au

Reference Birds Preface For personal reasons Craig Porter has decided to sell all his stock and most of this year s youngsters. A small contingent of young birds will be retained to keep the lines but Craig does not expect to be able to race pigeons again for a number of years. Craig Porter topped the QRPF Inc overall averages and the long distance averages again in 2002. Racing the Southwest route out to Broken Hill 700 miles proved to be a very hard for the QRPF members culminating with very tough 600 & 700 mile races with very few birds making it into Brisbane in race time. Craig s birds again showed the way with many top performances, including 2 nd Fed 500 miles clocked at 10.30pm, 4 th Fed 600 miles, one of only 7 flyers to clock birds on the third day, and 3 rd Fed Byrock 460 miles with only three birds home on the day clocked at 8.20pm. The 600 mile Fed hen also took 8 th Fed from Byrock 460 miles. Over the last 14 years Craig has been club champion 11 times, been the South Section Champion on five occasions, including champion for the last four years straight (70 flyers in the section), been the QRPF champion three times, finished 2 nd once, 3 rd twice, 4 th once, 6 th once, 7 th twice, 9 th once and 12 th twice, an enviable record at Federation level by anyone s standards. Craig believes that the family has really come together in the last 4 years, winning the open Fed averages in 1999, 2 nd in 2000, 6 th in 2001 and winning the averages again in 2002. The quality and ability of Craig family of racing pigeons has kept him at the top of the tree for many years now. His birds are bred around the old Brisbane distance blood and a blue pied cock from Shaun Elliott. These birds are renowned for their ability, not only to win but also for their doggedness to get home. The blending of winning bloodlines has resulted in a line-bred family that can consistently lead the packs home. Their determination to reach home often amazes and frustrates fellow fanciers, who on hard days, lamenting the empty perches in their lofts, they shake their heads in disbelief on hearing of Craig s good returns Craig s breeding methods have resulted in consistent winners over a long period and are producing more and more good birds each year, and less and less of the undesirable traits that dampen race performances. Craig prides himself on getting good returns from every race, be it hard, easy, slow or fast and also birds that will keep coming into the night. Over the years Craig has probably had more birds home in the night than just about any other flyer in the QRPF. A few examples are: 19810 1 st Fed Mackay 820 klms clocked at 9.30pm (only bird on the day in the Fed), 10647 2 nd Fed Mackay 820 klms clocked at 8.30 pm, 19131 2 nd Fed Mackay 820 klms found in loft at 2.30am. 22504 2 nd Fed Cobar clocked at 10.30pm 2002 (only 3 birds home that night), 20052 clocked at 8.20pm for 3 rd Fed Byrock (only 3 birds in the Fed on the day, the other two were clocked to shorter markers during daylight). In a Goulburn 820 klm 10 bird race some years ago Craig had 4 of his 10 birds home in the dark, the first bird taking 7 th Fed and there were only nine other flyers with night birds in the QRPF. In another memorable race from Marlborough 610 klms, Craig had 8 birds home in the dark while many other flyers were still looking for their clock bird the next day, his first bird clocked at 7pm (three landed together) took 8 th Fed. Over the last 12 years Craig has clocked birds in the dark in 17 races, all have finished in the top 15 Open Fed with 8 times in the top five Open Fed places, a truly remarkable record. Craig has competed in 61 Fed races conducted over the last 11 years over 400 mile mark. In these races Craig has taken top 10 places on 25 occasions, top 20 places on forty occasions and top 30 places on 49 occasions. He has also won 112 club races plus 60 second places over the last 11 years in one of the strongest clubs in the QRPF, including the long distance champion every year since 1992. 2

Reference Birds These birds will be of benefit to any loft, there will be no reserve on the birds and all must be sold. The pigeons are sold in good faith with all stock breeding successfully during the past breeding season but of course no guarantee can be given on their future performance. Statement: Selling my family of racing pigeons, which I have developed since my teens is something I never thought I would do but circumstances change from time to time and this influences what we must do. The pairs I mated for this last breeding season were carefully selected with the view of keeping the family breeding lines strong and maintaining the winning and producing characteristics of this family into the future. These matings provide an ideal opportunity to my fellow fanciers to purchase birds bred the way I would be pairing them for myself. I believe the young birds and the established breeders offered in this sale provide a great opportunity to start a winning family of racing pigeons that are able to handle all racing conditions, or to the established breeder, the opportunity to strengthen their current lines. My best wishes go to all purchasers at this sale and I hope you have has much success and enjoyment as I have. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further information about this family of racing pigeons. Your s sincerely Craig Porter. 3

Reference A:- 442 CHPC 77 Blue Bar hen Reference Birds 442 CHPC 77 BBH won the prestigious Townsville Open Federation race 1140 klms back in 1978, 442 was clocked at 3.20 pm to be the first of only 4 birds to make it home on the second day, her sire and dam along with the sire s sister have all played a major role in the formation of this winning family. The sire and dam also bred 18 th Open Fed Windorah 965 klms, clocked at 2.35pm on the second day in 1981, two full sisters and a brother were 2 nd, 3 rd & 4 th birds home, all clocked within 25 minutes on the second day. Another youngster was 15 th Open Fed Windorah in 1985 at 6.10 am on the second morning. (the sire and dam were 10 and 9 years old at the time), truly champion stayers, with that iron will to reach home. 442 was mated to a nephew and bred three hens to fly Broken Hill 1200 klms, two of these hens, 380 and 6544 bred 14 winners between them. 6544 produced nine of these winners, 6544 was mated to 3240, her uncle, in 1989 and produced 9029 89 QPF BCC and 9007 89 QPF BCH. 9029 bred 2 nd Fed Mackay (10647) 820 klms clocked at 8.30pm, 8 th Fed Charleville 720 klms, 10647 who won 2 nd Fed Mackay then bred the Mackay Fed winner (19810) clocked at 9.30 pm to be the only bird home on the day. He has also bred 9 th Fed Cobar 820 klms and 20 th Fed Gladstone as well. 442, 6544 and 9007 are the matriarchs of the loft and have been closely in-bred every year to maintain the winning bloodlines.
