Hopeless, starved and beaten up by bigger dogs, Ruger had curled up in a ditch next to a farm to market road to await the end. Thankfully a Good Samaritan spotted the little red pup and turned around to see if he was alive. Ruger had given up, he wouldn't even lift himself to meet her. Scooped up and carried to safety, this boy needed help beyond his savior's ability. Chewy's HOPE was alerted to his situation and agreed to take him under their care. Rushed to a vet, it was found that this 5 month old pup had nothing wrong with him other than starvation. We think he ventured too near a yard with larger dogs looking for food and was attacked. He had a large abscess on his jaw that is healing with treatment and broken puppy teeth. Ruger gained weight, is healthy and ready for his forever home. He is crate trained already and working on house training with regular trips out to potty. He is playful with other dogs, curious about the cat in house but doesn't chase. He already knows his name, and sits on command. He is learning how to stay, and come when called. He will be neutered on 3/8 along with his 2nd set of puppy vaccines. He is current on rabies and microchipped. He will be available after his third puppy vaccination. I m completely house trained and I like to sleep in my kennel at night with the door open. A home without kitties is best for me because I get too excited and want to chase them. Zane is a 1 yr old German Shepard mix. House trained. Crate trained. Learning basic commands. He is good with dogs, cats and kids. He is a total snug bug when it is bed time. He has lots of energy so an active family would be great for him. But he can also be a couch potato at times as well. Walk excellent on a leash. Enjoys being outside and playing with other dogs. Hi, my name is CB (Charlie Bravo) and I am a Pit Bull Terrier or as my rescue group likes to say, I am a pocket pit. I am small in stature, but I ve got a huge personality. I am completely house trained, lease trained and kennel trained. I am great with other dogs. I love to play with my foster sister and my foster Mom s 2 dogs. I also play with my foster Mom s kitten Olivia. We have the best time chasing each other and wrestling. Olivia likes to run and take flying leaps at my face. I just shake my head and she falls to the floor. Olivia is my little buddy. I don t mind the other 2 cats either, they just aren t as fun as Olivia. I love to sit in my foster Mom s lap, she says I keep her warm in the wintertime. I love my kennel, it s my safe place. If I have to go pee pee, I will howl so that someone will know to let me out. If they are not quick enough, I will start jumping at the door. I have been with Chewy s Hope since I was a puppy. I just recently started coming to adoption events. I really like my chew toys, but you have to be careful what type of treats and food you give me. I have a corn allergy that makes my mouth, neck and chest turn every pink. I also itch when I have eaten stuff with corn in it. One of my favorite things is to go places. If we get my leash on and head to the car, I get so excited. I am the perfect gentleman in the car. I will normally sit and look out the window or lay down and take a nap. I love kids, as long as they are respectful of me. I am a very laid back, happy little guy that wants to find a family to love me as much as I will love them. Sheila is an owner surrender that ended up in the Wise County Animal Shelter. This was no fault of hers, as she is only 8 months old and the owners gave her up for getting out of the yard to play with the neighbors dog. Sheila is an energetic girl that loves to run and play. She is great with other dogs and tends to be on the submissive side. Sheila is young and learns very quick. All she needs is a loving family that is willing to spend time with her and help her learn what is acceptable and not. She is in the process of learning her basics; kennel training, sit, leash training, etc. Sheila is already house trained. She gives sloppy kisses and loves to have her tummy scratched.
