HS Cabarms Animal Rescue Concord, NC Left to right: Sable Simmons, Lee Ann Helms, Kaylee Helms, Hanna Adams, Carol Miller and Shelia Rowland. Not in picture but also assisted was Buster Morgan. The little dog pictured here was literally thrown out of a car on Mt. Pleasant Road in Mt. Pleasant. Someone actually saw this happen. This dog is nothing but bones and covered in fleas. This little guy was so scared he would not go near anyone and spent a night out in the woods. A group of 7 of us went out to where he had been seen and with a team effort and lots of patience we were able to finally catch him. Carol Miller from HS Cabarrus Animal Rescue gathered up a team consisting of Lee Ann Helms from the Stanley County Humane Society, Kaylee Helms, Hanna Adams, Shelia Rowland, Sable Simmons and Buster Morgan. We all surrounded the dog crouching down to his level and moved toward him very slowly until we were close enough to get a blanket over him and pick him up. He is safe now and he wiu get the care he needs. We named him Roadie. I love it when rescues can work together, working towards the same goal. I love it when volunteers don't hesitate to come running to help a defenseless little animal. A huge thank you to the volunteers and to Beth Ensley Downs for caring enough to call us for help.

Page 4 Issue 36 ADOPTION UPDATES Amigo - aka Rue We adopted Amigo AKA Rue from you ladies almost a year ago. He is the best dog anyone could ask for. What you ladies do is amazing. Just to give a second chance for these wonderful animals is a beautiful thing. We thank you for bringing our Rue into our lives, without you ladies he wouldn't have a second chance. ^ Thank you, Sheryl and Shawnae Thank you to everyone who has adopted an animals and given them a new and better life. When you adopt you actually save 2 Hves, the life of the animal you adopt which then opens up a space for another animal to be brought in for adoption. If you have adopted an animal from HS CAR we would love an update with a picture on how they are doing in their new home. We love those happy endings. Moonbeam Just relaxing in his new home. Likes to curl up in a blanket and sun bathe on the deck. Lauren

Your help is needed to help us get these dogs healthy so they can find forever homes. Tip of the Month Karen Guignard, Bark Busters Dog Behavioral Therapist and Master Trainer. Go to www.barkbusters.com for more information Introducing a Puppy to an Adult Dog Not all resident dogs will welcome a new puppy into the home. Puppies are notorious for looking for attention from adult dogs (and everyone else) and must be supervised when they are with other animals. Very young pups may not pick up on an adult dog's body language that says he's had enough playing.a wellsocialized adult dog may growl to tell the pup to back off, which is appropriate behavior that helps the puppy learn boundaries. An adult dog with poor social skills, however, may present a danger to the puppy, as he may only know to bite rather than growl.thus, do not leave the dog and puppy alone together. Respect the adult dog's need for puppy-free quiet time, and be sure to spend one-on-one time with him as well. Handle the puppy-to-dog introduction as you would between adult dogs. Keep both animals leashed, carefully watch their body language, allow brief sniffs, and offer praise when they behave well.
