First I must congratulate Deb Austin and her Trial Team on a GREAT August Agility Trail. It was well attended and as always well run. Thank you to everyone that attended and participated and helped in any way. It takes many hands to make light work. Next up are a couple of new classes at PKC. One is called Packerland Youth Program. This will be coordinated by Faith Beam and Ronda Bermke, and will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 7 p.m. I am very excited about this class and what it represents to our club, and that is the involvement of our young people and the next generation of dog people. I hope you all will join me in supporting this class and offering to help. Please read the blurb that is included in this Paw Print for all the details. PKC is offering another new class called Beginners Conformation. As the name implies, it will provide a class-type setting for Conformation. We will need students to commit to attending regularly and learning a step-by-step approach to Conformation howing. Many topics will be covered including learning how to do entries for the shows, ring procedure, etiquette, and how to present your dog. This class will be presented by Ellen Vanden Avond, and will take place on Tuesday evening from 7 8 p.m. We plan to offer an intermediate class as a follow-up to this in the next session, and an advanced class in the future. Your club is also looking for an Agility Director as well as instructors for Agility classes. We have many people involved in Agility, so we need someone to step up to provide classes. We are looking forward to the Dog Walk for DAV (Disabled American Veterans) eptember 12. Please see the information provided in this Paw Print and please plan to attend. Loma Gaulke is heading this up, and we thank her for all of her efforts! Continued on next page... Please give us your thoughts and ideas to make this event successful and memorable. This is your event - let s join together to celebrate our successes. We are also looking for anyone interested in serving on our Fundraising Committee. Al Martens is heading up this committee and has many fun and interesting plans. Please offer to help, and become involved. We will not have a Business Meeting in eptember, but we will have a very important meeting in October! A Note from the Outreach Coordinator Ronda Bermke bermke@centurytel.net weet treet The Packerland Kennel Club has once again been asked to participate in the haunting festivities associated with weet treet! From the weet treet web page: This event is one of the largest and most popular Halloween events in Northeast WI. weet treet provides safe and controlled trick-or-treating and activities for children. I am thrilled that we have again been asked to participate in this community event. PKC has been asked to staff a treat booth for the entire weekend. weet treet will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and aturday, October 24 from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m. I am looking for PKC members and their well-behaved dogs to help staff our booth, which includes answering PKC and general dog questions, passing out candy, as well as your dog being petted. We need 3-4 volunteers for each time slot. The volunteer time slots look like this: Friday October 23, 2015 10:50-1:00 1:00-3:00 3:00-5:30 5:30-8:00 aturday October 24, 2015 8:50-11:00 11:00-1:30 1:30-4:00 If you are interested in participating please remember that this event can be stressful for your dog if he/she is not used to crowds or loud noises. All the children (and some adults) come in costume. Please make sure that your dog is able to tolerate balloons, crowds, children, loud noises, and other surprise activity. If you have any question that your dog will have a difficult time, please leave them at home and come yourself to answer questions and pass out candy! If you are able to volunteer some time, please contact Ronda at bermke@centurytel.net with your preferred time slot. Please choose only ONE time slot per day, but you may come once each day. I will get back to you the week of the event with a schedule of volunteers and other information regarding admission and parking. ALL volunteer scheduling MUT be completed by October 13. If you have any other questions please feel free to send Ronda an email. I am looking forward to the event! BOO!
