The top price per kilo was for a 16 month old Lim x from JR Gardiner Ltd of Carnaby weighing 560kgs and selling for 263.5ppk ( 1475) to Worsley Wholesale Meat Suppliers. Steers from JW Colling and Sons of Filey sold to 217.5ppk twice.

29 HEIFERS MALTON LIVESTOCK AUCTIONEERS What a trade for heifers with all 29 averaging 251ppk and 16 medium weights averaged a massive 262ppk. Some excellent cattle on show however some of the plainer, standard heifers still selling for more than expected. Please more heifers needed next Tuesday. The top price per kilo was for one of five lim and BB x from J & R Waind of Brawby weighing 580kgs and selling for 274.5ppk ( 1592). The other four sold for 273.5ppk ( 1490), 273.5ppk ( 1613), 269.5ppk ( 1643) and 263.5ppk ( 1528). BB x from N Marwood of Harome topped at 266.5ppk and 265.5ppk. Lim and BB x from DR Jackson and Sons reached 271.5ppk twice ( 1493 and 1452). Lim x from L Thompson and Son of Fimber reached 235.5ppk. Lim and BB x from CF Beal topped at 256.5ppk and 1603. Lim x from JH Tenant topped at 257ppk and 251.5ppk. Lim x from JR Gardiner topped at 263.5ppk. Homebred and fed BB x from J Bowling and Son Ltd topped at 259.5ppk twice. Lim x from A Cussons and Sons sold well reaching 257.5ppk twice. 16 OTM CATTLE 8 OTM cattle (over 30 months and under 72 months of age) A 32 month heifer from J Colling and Sons topped at 205.5ppk ( 1130). Highland steers topped at 117.5ppk and Highland heifers reached 131.5ppk both from J Simpson. 8 Older cull cows (over 72 months old) Older cows topped at 145.5ppk ( 1171) for a Lim x cow (120 months) from A & E Grice and Son, Westerdale. Holsteins topped at 136.5ppk ( 716) from WN Fletcher and Partners. 111 month old Hereford cows from PA & SJ Teasdale topped at 126.5ppk. 350 LAMBS Another improvement in trade in the lamb department this week with certainly more demand for all types. The top price per kilo was for a pen of five cha x from JR Dransfield of Sproxton weighing 40kgs and selling for 216ppk ( 86.50) to N Bramall of Sheffield. The top price per head was for a pen of 3 Texel x from SD & D Whitaker of Low Marishes weighing 58kgs and selling for 93.50 to A Traves and Son of Escrick. 48kgs from the same home sold for 81.50 and 37kgs sold for 70.50. Texel x from R Lamb and Son topped at 88 for 47kgs. 45kgs from MD Medd topped at 88.50 with 45kgs from same home selling for 85. Well-fed Texel x from KB & RP Harrison topped at 91.50
