Paw Print Personals! Trooper Handsome, fun loving, male dog, looking for a home where I can be the only pet! Come meet me at Greenhill! Meet Rick and Carol - our Volunteers of the Month for August! Combined, Rick and Carol have contributed over 1,700 hours of service since 2015!! We are beyond amazed and grateful for their countless hours of service, dedication and commitment to both the mission and all the animals of 1 st Avenue and Greenhill!! Rick and Carol do all kinds of work with our First Avenue dogs! They both volunteer with our Dog Enrichment Program as well as with the dog photo and video teams. Rick and Carol have also stepped in to help with dog transports and other tasks around the kennel as needed. Rick s favorite part of volunteering with us is getting to know the dogs before they are even available for adoption. Carol agrees that it is so rewarding to see the change as they start trusting you. Carol, a fifth generation Oregonian originally from Eugene, met Rick in his hometown of Bozeman, Montana. She moved back to Eugene with him in 1980, when Carol s dad offered Rick a job at his steel fabrication business. Rick spent the next 35 years there before retiring in 2015. Carol currently works as a corporate accounting manager at Bulk Handling Systems, and its proximity to First Avenue encouraged her to start volunteering there! In their spare time, Rick and Carol go to the beach with their dog, Stella, as often as they can. Besides walking on the beach, Carol s favorite hobbies are gardening and helping Rick with the dog photos. Even outside of his volunteer work with us, Rick loves photographing his and his friends dogs, a hobby that dates back to when he was the lone photographer for his high school newspaper and yearbook. Zorro Soft, friendly rabbit, looking for his new forever home! Come say hi at Greenhill today! Tessie Beautiful, sometimes shy, girl, who is looking for a nice quiet home to live the rest of her days in! Come say hi at First Ave! Please meet our foster of the month for August, Justine Enes and her family! They have been wonderful fosters for about 2 years now. I m fortunate in that I have the support of my family. Besides being agreeable about things like giving up our bathroom, my spouse shares in the work (and fun!), while my son helps to socialize them. Justine says, I decided to start fostering because I wanted to help animals. The kittens in foster care are vulnerable and need people to give them the extra attention and care, so I wanted to help them have a good start. I also wanted another way to be involved in volunteer work in our community. In addition, I thought it d be a fun way to be around kittens, as well as an excellent way to get to know them if we ever wanted to add to our family! Justine has been a vegan for 16 years and enjoys gardening, reading, hiking, playing board games, cooking, and eating delicious food. She homeschools her 10 year old son and her family also includes her spouse, three cats, Harold, Frida and Ralph, all of whom she fostered! There are so many reasons I d recommend fostering! Let s get the obvious out of the way, you get to be with kittens (or adult cats, or puppies, or )! You get to help them have what they need, whether it just be loving and playing with them as they grow and/or adjust, or nursing them through an illness or infection, or socializing feral kittens so they can be with people and be adopted into homes. The animals need people to foster them, and the shelters need the support of the community because they can t do it all.
They both are doing well and I love having them. My boyfriend and I love to cuddle with them in the evenings, when we are home and watching TV. They are so sweet and love the greens I give them fresh from the garden. I also built them a large play pen that they can run around in during the day. Both seem really happy and are warming up to their new home. They are so sweet; everyone who meets them thinks they are wonderful. Everything is going well so far. Thank you for checking in on us! Charleston is doing great! I'm so happy to have him and happy that we found each other! I think he's loving his new home. He likes his toys that you sent home with him and my family keeps sending toys over for him. He sleeps in my bed and follows me everywhere. I go to work and come home and he's waiting for me Fostering for Greenhill has been not only enjoyable, but also rewarding. Houdini is fantastic! We took him to the vet & got him treated for fleas & worms. He is still eating Science Diet because he didn't like the other food we tried. We've been working with him to get him stronger due to being three legged & now he's able to jump up on the couch & he is very rambunctious. We keep him indoors but take him outside on the patio with a leash. He is the only pet we have now. The adoption process was at Greenhill was smooth!
