Homemade Cat Treats: Chicken And Rice Cat Treats This is a bit of an unusual one as it includes baby food. If you don't like the idea of baby food you could substitute it with something you make yourself or you could use cat food or even tuna. The pre made food does make the Chicken and Rice Cat Treats recipe nice and easy though!

Ingredients 1 large egg Small jar of chicken and rice baby food 1/4 cup parsley 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 tablespoons water (approx) 1 cup flour Instructions #1. Preheat the oven to 180 degree Celsius (fan assisted) #2. Mix the egg, baby food and oil together. #3. Add the flour and parsley and mix together. #4. Make a dough from the mixture and add water as required to combine all the ingredients. #5. Roll the dough out onto a floured surface and score into small bite size pieces. There is no need to cut all the way through, just mark the dough so when it's cooked you can break into small pieces. #6. Place on greaseproof paper in the oven and cook for about 15 minutes. #7. Cool before breaking into small pieces and serving.

Verdict It was nice to try something different to tuna and cheese treats. The baby food was convenient and the cat did like them. I think because they didn't have a strong smell like some of the other recipes that he took longer to check them out. They were still enjoyed though!

Homemade Catnip Cat Treats: Catnip Delight When it comes to catnip cats either love it or hate it. Some cats go crazy for it and others might not even notice it at all. We've previously talked about catnip and why cats love it, but today we are sharing a recipe for catnip homemade cat treats that we are sure most cats will devour with great enthusiasm.

Ingredients 1/2 tin tuna in water 1 tablespoon of catnip 1 egg 1 cup of flour 1/2 cup of grated cheese Instructions #1. Preheat the oven to 180 degree Celsius (fan assisted) #2. Combine the tuna, egg and cheese together. #3. Mix the flour into the wet mixture. #4. Form into a dough and then roll 1/4 inch thick. If it's too wet you can always add a bit more flour. #5. Run a knife across the dough to mark out small treat size squares. Do not cut completely through the mixture, you just want to score it. #6. Bake on a greaseproof covered baking tray for 15 mins or until golden. #7. You can then separate the small treats.

Verdict Our cat loved these. He's quite fond of catnip, so he definitely could smell that in them. They broke away easily when I separated them, and scoring them and baking them was an easier method than trying to cut into squares and then place on a baking tray. The recipe made lots of treats, so if you wanted to try out a few first you could half the recipe.

Homemade Cat Treats: Tuna Cat Balls I think all cats like fish, so I was excited to try this Tuna Homemade Cat Treats recipe on my cat. It's a simple one and makes small balls of tasty tuna treat that they will love. With only 4 ingredients it's not going to break the bank or send you into a frenzy trying to find everything in the supermarket. In fact you will probably already have these ingredients at home.

Ingredients 1/2 cup flour (I used wholewheat flour) 1/4 cup of milk 1/2 tin drained tuna (in oil or water) 1 egg Water to blend the ingredients if needed. Instructions #1. Preheat the oven to 180 degree Celsius (fan assisted) #2. Combine the tuna and the flour until thoroughly mixed. #3. Add the egg and the milk to the bowl #4. Mix all the ingredients together and then roll into small balls using 1/2 teaspoon of the mixture. #5. Place on greaseproof paper on a baking tray. #6. Bake for 10-15 minutes and leave to cool

Verdict These smelt really nice when they were cooking and they were a real hit with our cat. I think the tuna was a definite plus for him, although I could probably have made them a little smaller for him so they were more bite size. Regardless of the size he enjoyed chomping down on them!

Homemade Tuna Cat Treats: Kitty Nibbles Tuna is always popular with my cat, in fact he loves any type of fish - especially tinned fish. So these Homemade Tuna Cat Treats sounded like the perfect choice for him. With a full tin if tuna in them, they were sure to hit the spot and be one of his favourites.

Ingredients 1 can of tuna in oil (drained) 1 cup of flour 1 egg Parsley (optional) Approx half a cup of water Instructions #1. Preheat the oven to 180 degree Celsius (fan assisted) #2. Combine the tuna and egg together in a bowl. #3. Add the flour and then gradually add the water and combine the mixture into a dough. #4. Roll the dough onto a floured surface until about 1/4 inch thick. #5. Score into bite sized pieces. Be careful you don't go all the way through the dough when scoring - just deep enough that when they are cooked you can break the pieces apart. #6. Place on a greaseproof covered baking tray and bake in the oven for 15 minutes. #7. Leave to cool and then break into pieces and serve.

Verdict My cat loved these. The tuna was really strong smelling and he enjoyed the taste a lot! Although you could just give your cat a tin of tuna, these treats are so fun and even the dogs enjoyed a little taste! Definitely worth the effort and the small number of ingredients made them a really quick and easy treat to make.

Homemade Cat Treats: Pawsome Cheesy Bites When you think of baking for your pets you probably automatically think of baking dog treats. But why should cats miss out? So, in this series of blog posts we are going to be sharing our best Homemade Cat Treats recipes - starting with our Pawsome Cheesy Bites.

Ingredients: 3/4 cup of grated cheese 1/3 cup of Parmesan 1/4 cup of plain yogurt 1 cup of flour Approximately 1/4 cup of water Instructions #1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (based on a fan assisted oven) #2. Mix the cheeses together and then add the yogurt to combine them. #3. Add 1 cup of flour and stir in carefully. #4. Combine to make a dough using the water. Add in small amounts and if the dough becomes too sticky then add additional flour. #5. There are 2 options for cutting up your treats. I found option 2 easier. Option 1: Roll the dough on a floured surface and then cut into small pieces suitable for a cat. Place on grease proof paper on a baking tray. Option 2: Roll the mixture 1/4 inch thick onto a floured surface. Place on grease proof paper on a baking tray and then score the mixture into small squares (without going all the way through the mixture). #6. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. #7. Leave to cool before serving.

Verdict These reminded me of a cheese biscuit / nibble that you might enjoy at Christmas. And...they tasted like them! (Yes, I had a quick nibble for research purposes!) The cat loved them. They were a nice size and very crispy. The Parmesan cheese was a nice strong smell as well which made them more appealing.

5 Cat Treats Your Cat Will Love If you are busy and don't have time to bake for your cat, or you find they aren't keen on homemade cat treats, then we've found some store bought treats that will keep them happy. All the treats were less than 2 euro each, so they won t break the bank either.

5 Cat Treats Your Cat Will Love #1. Dreamies (with tempting beef) Dreamies come in lots of different flavours, including beef and cheese. We reviewed their treat dispenser that came with the cheese treats earlier in the year and it was a great hit with lots of cat owners. You can feed these cat treats to adult cats and kitten, and they are only 2 kcal per treat. The treats are small so you get a lot of them in a 60g bag which makes them a great treat to last the week.

#2. Felix (Mixed Grill) These treats also come in Seaside Mix and Cheese Mix flavours. There are differently shaped treats in the bag, which does make them a little more attractive. Although I am not sure my cat really appreciated the shape of them at all! They are small treats, so plenty of them in the 60g bag, and they contain proteins, vitamins and omega 6.

#3. Whiskas Dentabites (with chicken) These reportedly reduce tartar build up, so they are great for your cat s dental health. They are flavoured with chicken, but also come in salmon flavour. There are 50g in the bag. They are also endorsed by the British Veterinary Dental Association.

#4. Webbox lick-e-lix (with chicken) This is a brand that I have not heard of before. I ve never even seen yogurt for cats before. The box contains 5 x 15g sachets of the treat. It comes in chicken and salmon and can be given as a treat, used as a topping on their food or used to hide crushed up medication. It s also suitable for kittens from 3 months.

#5. Tesco Treats (Cat Sticks) These were the cheapest of the treats and are a store brand. This type of treat is sold in most of the major supermarkets. It s a 30g pack and there are 6 individual sticks in the packet.
