Veterinarian Jefferson Animal Hospital 4504 Outer Loop, Louisville, KY 40219-502-969-9900 Test Site Information Testing will be inside an air-conditioned and heated training facility with restrooms. 5 You are responsible for picking up after your dog. All dogs must be on a 6 leash at all times when not being tested. No flexi-leashes for walking dogs on test site grounds; flexi s may be used in the test itself. Entry Requirements The handler of the dog must be a current member of the NACSW. The Dog must be registered with the NACSW. For information on how to register or become a member go to www.nacsw.net Trial Eligibility and ORTs An ORT must be taken and passed at least 14 days before a trial opening date to be eligible for the first draw period. Entry Fee and Second Dog Policy $32 per odor per dog. Please fill out a separate registration form for each dog to be tested, indicating which odors you would like to be tested on Closing Date Entries and payment must be received at the secretary s address by September 23rd, 2017. At 5:00 PM. Overnight mail entries must have the signature request waived. Refund Policy Cancellations made before the closing date will be refunded. No refunds will be made after the closing date. Video/Photography Policy ORT participants are allowed to have a friend or family member video/photograph their test. ORT participants are not allowed to video/photograph one another. ORT hosts are not obligated to provide someone to video/photograph. DIRECTIONS TO COMPETITIVE EDGE: FROM SOUTH: From I-65N take KY-1747 (exit 125, Fern Valley Rd). Go approx. 3.6 miles, turn left onto Shepherdsville Rd, KY-2052. Go another 1.9 miles and CEA will be on your left. FROM NORTH: From I-65S take I-264E (exit 131A Watterson Expr.), take KY-1703S (Exit 15 Newburgh Rd), Turn left on Indian Trail, turn right onto Shepherdsville Rd. CEA will be on your right FROM EAST: From 64W, take US-31E/US-150 (Exit 16 Bardstown Rd.), go left at the fork, follow Bardstown Rd S, right onto Hikes Ln, left onto KY- 2052 Shepherdsville Rd. TEST Information - Notice to Exhibitors. THE TEST SITE will be open at 8:00 AM CHECK-IN: times will be sent out in the final confirmation HANDLER BRIEFING: times will be sent out in the final confirmation Score books are optional and are not required to participate in an ORT. They are for personal record keeping. Replacement score books but you can request a replacement book that will include all your prior NACSW results can be ordered online for $20. Log in to your account at: http://www.nacsw.net and under the "My Account" section, go to "My Dogs" and choose the option to order a replacement score book there. NO SPECTATORS ARE PERMITTED IN THE SEARCH AREA during the ORT except NACSW officials, adults accompanying a minor, CNWI-in-training, or immediate family members/friends of the dog/handler team currently being tested. ENTRIES: TELEPHONE, FAX, UNSIGNED ENTRIES, AND ENTRIES RECEIVED WITHOUT FEES cannot be accepted. RETURNED CHECKS do not constitute a valid entry fee. A charge of $25.00 will be made for each returned check. ENTRIES MUST BE MADE ON THE ATTACHED ENTRY FORM or using the form located on the CEA website at https://competitiveedge.dogbizpro.com/public/registration/events.aspx?event=1716 NO ENTRY SHALL BE MADE AND NO ENTRY SHALL BE ACCEPTED, WHICH SPECIFIES ANY CONDITIONS AS TO ITS ACCEPTANCE. OWNERS are responsible for errors in making out entry forms. EXPRESS MAIL entries must include signature permitting them to be left at the secretary s address without recipient s signature. DOGS POLICIES All dogs must be on a 6 leash at all times when not being tested. NO Flexi-leashes while not participating in a competition search. Dogs should be toileted in designated areas and handlers must pick up and dispose of waste. Competitors should keep their dogs crated or in a vehicle when not competing except for toileting your dog. The logistics of a ORT does not allow for dogs to be out on a leash in between searches. Competitors and handlers must stay in designated areas to avoid contaminating testing space, interrupting a test, or from viewing any part of the testing. FEMALES IN SEASON Contact your test host if this becomes a possibility DOGS PARTICIPATING in ORT must be at least six months of age and must appear to be healthy on trial day and should be current on all vaccinations required by law. Acknowledgement of entry acceptance/confirmation will be made when entries are processed for those handlers that provide an email address. If you require a confirmation via USPS, you must provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your entry. BASIC DESCRIPTION OF TEST to successfully pass an ORT a dog must identify the location of the target odor and the handler must correctly call an alert within a three-minute time period. The Odor Recognition Test consists of a drill type exercise which requires 12 closed boxes set up in a pattern of one or two rows, spaced a minimum of 48 apart. The ORT is conducted on leash.
