1 SHEEP GENERAL: UREA WARNING (only where an nd if appropriate/applicable) Vinegar is an effective remedy against NPN poisoning. Mix with an equal amount of water. Dose half a bottle per calf or large sheep or 2-4 bottles per head of cattle (1 bottle = 750 ml). Protect this farm feed against rain. NPN is soluble and animals drinking such a solution could be poisoned. This feed contains a NPN source - feed strictly according to feed recommendation. Do not feed this farm feed indiscriminately with other NPN containing farm feeds. Consult an animal scientist. Good quality roughage and/or grazing should always be available. When replacing a NPN-free feed with a NPN consisting feed, it is recommended to feed an adaptation period of 4-6 days, in which the feed is mixed 50/50.

2 GUIDELINES: FEEDLOT (SHEEP): The following actions are of critical importance to take into considerationn when feeding animals in a feedlot:- a) treatment of parasites, internally and externally, b) vaccinating against pulpy kidney and other respiratory illnesses (contact your veterinarian). c) when growth stimulantss are used. Adaptation (10-14 days): Sheep eat 3,5-4,2% of their body weight. Adaptation of animals, which grazes on a diet of grain(s), is a very important aspect of the results achieving in a feedlot. Start with Sheep Grower at 400 grams per lamb per day ½ thereof in the mornings and the other ½ in the afternoons. Increase the portion with 100 grams per lamb per day until lambs/sheep are eating ad lib (ad libitum at pleasure). Lucerne, or any other high quality roughage, must be available ad lib for the first 14 days. Manger space: 20cm per animal during an adaptation phase 10cm per animal after adaptation phase Floor space: 1,5-2,5m² per animal Drinking water: Clean water mangers twice daily. Lambs drink 4-6 litre water per day. LAMBS CREEPING FEED: ADVANTAGES OF USE CREEPING FEED:- - Promotes rumen development - Lambs will grow faster - Lambs will wean easier without weaning shock - Lambs will weigh heavier at weaning time and adapt more easily to/in feedlot - A must in the early weaning system - Troughs - for creeping feeds - must preferably have the facility to be covered so that it could not get wet when raining. Openings of these troughs must be 18cm for merino sheep especially, and for mutton thoroughbreds 20-22cm.

3 LAMB CREEPING MEAL/CRUMBS: 180 g/kg 25/70 g/kg 150 g/kg 10 g/kg 4,0 g/kg / Recommendation: Supply creeping feed in troughs/trays to lambs from 5 days after lambing season commences (especially to multiples). No adaptation is needed when feeding starts on the aforesaid age. Provide free access to lamb creeping feed and make sure that troughs/trays are always full (of feed). Benefits: An urea free product with high quality bypass-protein and lucerne, whichh will promote muscle growth in young lambs. Usage: Supply to lambs until the age of ±50 days and then switch over to TW Sheep Grower. 4 Benefits: With the high percentage of quality bypass of protein in this product, which is derived from a wide range of natural protein, it makes it one of the most versatile and effective products available. Recommendation:- Use as/for - A creeping feed from the age of 50 days until after weaned. An adaptation ration but can be used for lambs light in weight - <32kg - in a feedlot system. Feedlot ration for mutton breeds which has the inclination to become too fat. For the outgrow of stud rams for auctions and exhibitions/shows. Sufficient good quality roughage must be readily available at all times. Provide free access to feed. SHEEP FINISHER {also known as RA AM, LAMB & EWE finisher} [V16691]: from NPN Benefits: 130 g/kg 11,7 % 11,4 MJ/kg 25/70 g/kg 150 g/kg 15 g/kg 3 g/kg / It is a very tasty product and the good balance between natural protein and energy levels, within this product, ensure highh growth, optimal slaughter percentage and very good carcass qualities. Recommendations: Sheep finisher is a ration for feedlot purposes, which is used to finish offf lambs and fully grown animals ready to be slaughtered. During the first 2 weeks additional roughage must be given to adapt animals. Animals must be fully adapted on/with TW Sheep finisher and then afterwards on an ad lib basis (see adaptation information under feedlots on page 2). Adaptation of animals is utterly important.

5 Apply proper feed manger management and monitor intake to immediately observe possible diseases. Excellent growth, high slaughter percentage and good carcass qualities are achieved by using this product. LAMB SHED CRUMBS [V23927]: Ewes with twins: Ewes must be adapted by making use of TW Lamb Shed Crumbs for optimal utilization and consumption of nutritional stuffs within these crumbs. The adaptation has the effect that ewes will produce efficient milk and that they will receive strong, healthy lambs from 4 5 kg, when born. This young lambs will have a much better chance to survive and the wean weight will also be heavier. When the feeding with TW Lamb Shed Crumbs commences, all lick additives must stop. Adapt as follows:- 4 weeks prior to casting the young 500 grams per day 3 weeks prior to casting the young 750 grams per day 2 weeks prior to casting the young 1 kg per day 1 week prior to casting the young 1,25 kg per day After lambing, ewes with twins must be fed 2,5 kg per ewe per day for 75 days until lambs are weaned. Licks must be given for the other part of the 8 month cycle, i.e. 4½ months, at an average of 300 grams per day. Lamb must have access to TW Creeping pellets before they are leaving the sheds, where lambing has taken place, on day 3 5. A lamb utilizes ±25 kg creeping pellets up until weaned. Ewes with single lambs: Adapt as follows:- 2 weeks prior to casting lambs 500grams per day 1 week prior to casting lambs 750grams per day 3 days in lambing sheds 2kg per ewe per day If sufficient food for ewes with single lambs lacks is not available, 1 kg TW Lamb shed crumbs per day may be fed. 8 EWE LICK HPC [V22967]: Mixtures with TW Ewe lick HPC:- Maize Molasses meal Salt Ewe lick HPC (MJ/kg) (%) from NPN (%) (g/kg) (g/kg) Intake (g/kg) MIXTURE 1: Use as a lick for animals grazing g on Karooveld, as well as on the Highveld with its natural pastures in summer. MIXTURE 2: Use in the same conditions as mention in mixture 1 above. Recommendation is to use this mixture for ewes with multiple lambs. MIXTURE 3: Use as a lick whilst grazing on oats, red grass, soya bean residues and other planted pastures. MIXTURE 4: Same as in 3 above but high intake is achieved which is ideal for ewes with multiple lambs. MIXTURE 5: Use as a support/sustenance lick for animals on dry winter pastures and crop residues. MIXTURE 6: For the finishing off of lambs on green planted pastures.

9 MIXTURE 7: Use in winter for animals on dry grass veld, or grazing on crop residues, as a lactating lick, or as a stimulating feed, as well as for the finishing off of young ewes and rams. Use in the same way as the recommendations with TW Lamb shed crumbs.

10 IN AN INTENSIVE LAMBING SYSTEM RAMS: To be able to have a highly fertile herd, highly fertile rams must be bought/used which can breed or raise more fertile female offspring. A ram contributes 75% of the genetic improvement in a herd. Scrotum circumference must be at least 35cm prior to mating time. Rams with bigger testis/testicles breed ewes with bigger ovaries which will ovulate earlier and secrete more egg-cells/ovicells. The more times a ram covers a ewe the greater the chance will be for multiple births. Breeding rams must receive the right nutrition 2 months prior to mating time because it takes 63 days for a sperm cell to develop. Feed rams TELWIEDRè SHEEP (RAM, LAMB AND EWE) GROWER PELLETS 2kg per ram per day together with good quality roughage, like lucerne, starting 2 months before the mating season commences. The rams must exercise regularly and let them undergo fertility tests. EWES: MATING TIME (0 50 DAYS):- The condition of ewes will have a huge influence on lambing percentage of all ewes in the herd, throughout the year. Multiple births are highly dependent on the condition of the ewes during mating time because it is one of the main factors which determine the ovulation rate. EARLY AND MID PREGNANCY ( DAYS):- The following features are positively influenced if ewes receive good nutrition during early and mid pregnancy, because that is the time when the placenta develops:- - birth weight - life time wool production - thickness of filaments/fibrous - growth of lambs up until months of age - life time re production - milk production of ewes LATE PREGNANCY ( DAYS):- 72% of the growth and development of a lamb are taking place during this period. Primary wool follicle development also take place during this period, as well as the development of colostrums and the amount of milk produces during lactation. Twin lambs must gain at least 15kg during this phase. Ewes, which lamb within a condition point of between/from 3 to 3,5 have got minimum lamb mortalities. Beware of over fat ewes prone to metabolic disorders and milk fever. LAMBING: More or less 70% of all lamb mortalities take place during the first 48 hours after birth. The optimum birth weight for lambs must be/is between 4,5 and 6kg. Lambs must get as much colostrums and as quick as possible after birth.

11 : MATING TIME:- During preparation for mating time feed ewes TELWIEDRè LAMB SHED CRUMBS, together with high quality roughage at 300 grams per ewe per day. When ewes are sponged, increase the intake to 500 gram per ewee per day. When the rams are removed, reduce the intake to 300 gram per ewe per day for the subsequent 2 weeks. Then change to TELWIEDRè SHEEP (RAM, LAMB AND EWE) GROWER PELLETS at against 300 gram per ewe per day together with good quality roughage or veld pastures, otherwise remain on an intake of 500 gram per ewe per day, if little roughage prevails or if the roughage is of a poor quality. Stay on this program of nutrition up until 6 weeks prior to time of lambing. LAMBING:- From 6 weeks prior to lambing, supply TELWIEDRè LAMB SHED CRUMBS, as follows:- - 6 weeks prior to lambing gram per ewe per day - 5 weeks prior to lambing gram per ewe per day - 4 weeks prior to lambing - 1,000 gram per ewe per day (2 feedings) - 3 weeks prior to lambing - 1,25 kg per ewe per day (2 feedings) - 2 weeks prior to lambing - 1,50 kg per ewe per day (2 feedings) - Up until lambing started - 1,50 kg per ewe per day (2 feedings) From after lambing supply TELWIEDRè LAMB SHED CRUMBS ad lib in lamb sheds. Intake varies from 2 to 3,5 kg per ewe per day, depending on the size of the ewe and the number of lambs. When ewes are out of the sheds, supply TELWIEDRè LAMB SHED CRUMBS at 2,5 kg per ewe per day together with good roughage up until 4 to 6 days prior to weaning to reduce the milk production of ewes. Commence with feeding on fourth day after weaning of lambs at against 300 gram per ewe per day. LAMBS:- Lambs must receive crawling feed from the time they are leaving the lamb sheds utilize TELWIEDRè LAMB CRAWLING PELLETS up until the age of ±6 weeks and then change to TELWIEDRè SHEEP (RAM, LAMB AND EWE) GROWER PELLETS in creep bowls/troughs. After weaning keep lambs in a feedlot and feed TELWIEDRè SHEEP (RAM, LAMB AND EWE) GROWER PELLETS together with lucerne for the first 10 days, after which the lucerne must be taken away.
