S t o p b l e e d i n g f a s t w i t h t h r e e p r o v e n p e r f o r m e r s SURGICEL Absorbable Hemostats have been trusted for half a century to stop surgical bleeding. 1,2 Proven Safety Proprietary oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) technology 1 designed to ensure purity and consistency Plant-based product with minimal tissue reaction 3 Fully absorbable within 7-14 days 3 Proven Efficacy Fast hemostasis 1 Used in more hospitals than any other absorbable hemostat product 1 Choice & Convenience Available in 3 unique forms ideal for a broad range of specialties and procedures 3 Long shelf life at room temperature* 3 Ready to use out of the package Flexible and malleable, can be cut to size *SURGICEL Original Absorbable Hemostat and SURGICEL NU-KNIT Absorbable Hemostat have a 5-year shelf life; SURGICEL FIBRILLAR TM Absorbable Hemostat has a 3-year shelf life.
P r o v e n B a c t e r i c i d a l P r o p e r t i e s SURGICEL Absorbable Hemostat is the first and only absorbable hemostat that is proven bactericidal against a broad range of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms including various antibiotic-resistant bacteria (MRSA, VRE, PRSP and MRSE),4,5 Logarithmic Reduction of MRSA E E E+8 CFU/mL 1.00E E E E E E E+1 Control SURGICEL Original Absorbable Hemostat SURGICEL NU-KNIT Absorbable Hemostat SURGICEL FIBRILLAR TM Absorbable Hemostat In vivo animal studies have proven SURGICEL Absorbable Hemostat, in contrast to other hemostatic agents studied, does not enhance infection Time (hours) 40 Surviving Populations Control Absorbable Gelatin Sponge Collagen Hemostatic Agent SURGICEL Absorbable Hemostat Days The experimental model: 140 guinea pigs were utilized to simulate the development of intra-abdominal abscess and/or peritonitis, which can occur in humans when a large blood clot becomes contaminated. Clinical significance of these animal or in vitro data has yet to be determined. Closing SURGICEL Absorbable Hemostat into a contaminated wound without drainage may lead to complications and should be avoided. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE), penicillinresistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (PRSP), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE). CFU=Colony Forming Units
SURGICEL FIBRILLAR Absorbable Hemostat Versatility Thin layers enhance your ability to visualize and work on bleeding site Fibril material provides broad surface area coverage Optimal Adherence Soft, layered material conforms and melts in to bleeding tissue until you remove it 1 Larger surface area advances hemostasis action Ideal Conformability Lightweight layers and tufts peel off as much or as little as desired 10 Use it in any size, shape, or thickness as needed for your specific application 10 Well suited for use in craniotomy, laminectomy 3 and coronary artery bypass graft procedures to control bleeding on the anastomosis site
SURGICEL NU-KNIT Absorbable Hemostat Stronger Material Dense knit material provides high tensile strength in the presence of heavy bleeding 1 Thick weave designed to stay together during surgery; permits suturing Greater Coverage Area Large surface area provides maximal coverage Soft, pliable weave designed to hold a suture 3 and for placement on delicate tissue 11 Versatile Wrap it, suture it in place, even insert it through a trocar, for unsurpassed application control Ideal for use in trauma, laparoscopic surgery, and various procedures, including sternotomies and solid organ 11
SURGICEL ORIGINAL Absorbable Hemostat Excellent Hemostasis With Optimal Handling Proven record of safety and efficacy for a broad range of bleeding situations 1,3 Sheer weave allows visibility of the bleeding site Flexible texture conforms to irregular surfaces provides optimal conformability in a fabric 1 Surgical Conformability Compatible with electrocautery 3 Easily removed after hemostasis is achieved 3 Easily cut or folded for use in endoscopic procedures 1
c h o o s e The SURGICEL Hemostat that s right for your procedure. Three proven & trusted performers SURGICEL Absorbable Hemostats provide a unique combination of hemostatic effectiveness, absorbability, and bactericidal properties. 4,5 For use in a broad range of procedures 3 Neurosurgery Ortho-spine Cardiovascular Peripheral Vascular General Surgery Trauma Minimally Invasive Surgery Urology ENT Procedures The Choice of surgeons for half a century
