4 The Experts Poul Bækbo is a Veterinarian and the Senior Specialist Livestock Innovation at SEGES Pig Research Centre. He has been working with Research & Development in many areas of pig health and welfare for more than 30 years, the last 25 in what is now called SEGES Pig Research Centre. For many years he has been responsible for the pig industry s own research in pig diseases. Simon Cutting is a Professor at the School of Biological Sciences at the Royal Holloway University of London. He has been at the Royal Holloway for the last 20 years where he works on oral vaccines using Bacillus spores as a delivery system, Bacillus probiotics and Clostridium difficile. Jeroen Dewulf is a Veterinarian and Full Professor in Veterinary Epidemiology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the Department of Reproduction, Obstetrics and Herd Health of Ghent University. Since 2009 he has been member of the scientific committee of the Belgian Federal Food Agency and he is the Founder and Chair of board of the center of expertise on antimicrobial use and resistance in animals (AMCRA) in Belgium. Anton Einberger is the Vice-President of FEFAC, the Managing Director at Trouw Nutrition Deutschland and a member of the praesidium of the Association of German Feed Producers (DVT). Jaume Galobart i Cots has been working as a Senior Scientific Officer at the FEED Unit of EFSA since He is currently coordinating the work of the FEEDAP Panel and its Working Group on the revision of the guidance documents. Manfred Kietzmann is a Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacy at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. José Francisco Pérez is a Professor and the Head of Department of Animal and Food Science at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He works with monogastric animals, mainly pigs and poultry, on the study of interactions between the feed composition, feed additives and the intestinal health to reduce the use of antibiotics. His principal research area is the interaction among carbohydrates, protein, phytate and minerals in the digestive tract. John Pluske is currently a Professor in the School of Veterinary and Life Sciences at Murdoch University and the President of the University s Academic Council. John was a Research Fellow in the School of Veterinary Studies at Murdoch University and Senior Research Scientist in the Monogastric Research Centre at Massey University. He returned to Murdoch University in 1999, and currently conducts research in piglet nutrition, gut physiology and function and enteric diseases. Marta Ponghellini is the Deputy Head of Unit E5, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Medicines at DG SANTE (Directorate- General for Health and Food Safety) at the European Commission. Anke Schröder works for the Division of Veterinary Drugs, Residues of Pharmacologically Active Agents in Food at the BMEL in Bonn. Stefan Schwarz is a Professor and has been the Head of the Institute of Microbiology and Epizootics at the Freie Universität Berlin since He is a Specialist Veterinarian for microbiology, epidemiology, as well as molecular genetics and gene technology. His preferential research area is Antimicrobial Resistance. Reinder Sijtsma is a Nutreco Quality Director. From 1989 until now he has had several positions in R&D, nutrition, quality assurance and food safety in Nutreco. In his current position he is responsible for quality and food safety policies, regulatory affairs and intellectual property management at Nutreco corporate level. In addition, Reinder is member of several committees and boards of international feed associations, including the board of IFIF. Ole Lund Svendsen has been working for more than 25 years in the life science/feed additives business for DSM. Engaged in animal nutrition & health and market development at local, regional and now at global level at DSM, Ole has vast experience in bringing numerous innovation projects to the markets. Paolo Trevisi is an Associate Professor in Animal Science and has been working at the Department of Agriculture and Food Science of Bologna University since His research is focused to study the issues related to feeding and management strategies in weaned pigs. Koen Van Dyck is the Head of Unit Bilateral International Relations and the Head of AMR Task Force at DG Health & Food Safety in the European Commission in Brussels. Jürgen Zentek is a Professor for Animal Nutrition at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Freie Universität Berlin and has research experience in nutritional physiology and animal nutrition including the relevance of feed for food safety. Werner Zollitsch has been an Associated Professor since 1998 and is currently the Head of Department of Sustainable Agricultural Systems at BOKU in Vienna. His main research interests are in the fields of feeding systems, animal nutrition in organic farming and sustainability of livestock production systems.
