2 Wednesday 21 st March 2018 Auctioneer: Thomas Hiorns 1811 Prime Hoggs SQQ and 287p/kg **NEW RECORDS AT THAME HIGHEST EVER MARKET AVERAGE** Prime Hoggs SQQ p/kg The recent Beast from the East and the current high demand for lamb both on the home market and in Europe meant for a fantastic trade in Thame today putting our SQQ at p/kg and our overall average at p/kg and that s with all the weight included. Andrew Ivory took the days highest p/kg with 287p/kg or for his wonderful 41kg Beltex just ahead of M/s R Randall & Son with 285p/kg or for Beltex at 43kg. Mr Richard Behr had a strong trade for his annual draw of hoggs topping at 276p/kg for 46kg Beltex or Row after row of hoggs 250p/kg or above. M/s R Randall & Son and R E Greaves & Son both had the days highest priced hoggs at per head weighing 63.5 kg and 67kg respectively both for Continental x. Napper Farm Sevices took for weighted Charolais. As it is clear we have the buyers and the trade if you have meat hoggs to sell, please book them in on a Tuesday morning. Limousin and Aberdeen Angus x battled for top spot with Limousin x steers from JM Hanson & Son, Eardisland selling a pair at at 23 months. Commercial R grades selling to 368p/kg. Plenty of quality sorts sold. The steers topped by an Aberdeen Angus (R=4=) at 1599, with others 1575 (R3), 1567 (O+4=), 1563 (R=4-) and 1502 (O+4L). The best of the Continentals a Charolais x at 1545 (-U4L) with Limousin to 1541 (E2). British Blues 1532 (R=4-) and other native breeds to 1502 (O+4L) Beef Shorthorn. The good selection of heifers topped by Aberdeen Angus at 1510 (O+4H) with another at 1455 (O+4H). Some very good quality Limousin selling at 1476 (U+3+), 1465 (U-4-) and 1376 (U+4=) with Charolais to 1441 (R4L) and 1424 (-U4L). The few young bulls all over 16 months topped at 1592 E3 and 1559 (U+3) both Limousins. South Devon to 1206 (R4L), Beef Shorthorn to 1191 (O+4H), British Blue to 1197 (R3) and Simmental x to 1182 (R4H). The dairy barreners topped by a cracking heavyweight Holstein selling to 1268 (O+4L) with a Brown Swiss X at 1245 (O+5L). A small number of OTMs sold to a firmer trade topping at 1510 for a Limousin steer (R2). The best of the heifers a Charolais (-U4L) at 1425.
