3 Komodo Dragon Adaptations Hissss komodo dragons have adaptations to help them survive. Komodo dragons can detect prey from a mile away. And because of its keen sense of smell it can easily smell rotting flesh, which is its favorite food. Did you know that? Also, it has a pinkish-yellow tongue.and it has at least 60 teeth to kill prey. They also have long sharp claws to dig a den. Komodo dragons are cold-blooded so they get heat from the sun. If you ever find yourself in Indonesia you might see a Komodo dragon's adaptations. Komodo dragons have some of the coolest adaptations ever!
4 Komodo Dragon Diet Chomp! Komodo dragons eat food to get energy so they can survive. Did you know, if a komodo dragon is very hungry they can eat deer? In fact they eat everything on the island! In a feeding frenzie komodo dragons attack each other! After a meal a dragon can go for weeks without eating, isn t that interesting? Komodo dragons really have no natural predators. Wouldn't you like to eat like a komodo dragon? Komodo dragons have a large jaw to bite big prey.
5 The Life of a Komodo Dragon Have you ever wondered what a komodo dragon s life cycle is? Komodo dragons have life cycles to make more of its own kind. Did you know komodo dragons are born in eggs and when they are young they live in the trees, and have spots? Did you know that? Also when komodo dragons are too big for the trees it loses its spots. And when they are adults they can hunt for animals that are bigger than themselves. Komodo dragons can live to fifty years old! Running into a Komodo dragon when it's big can turn into a big...problem. Komodo dragons can live a long life in the wild.
6 A Komodo Dragon s Habitat Have you ever wondered where a komodo dragon lives? Komodo dragons live in a special habitat to survive. They live in Indonesia, Indonesia is a couple of islands together. Komodo dragons live in a rocky and dry terrain,also where they live it is blistering hot, and it hardly ever rains. And since it is hot they live in a den. And where they live even lakes can dry up. I would not want to live like a Komodo dragon! Komodo dragons Komodo dragons live in a small habitat.
7 Komodo Dragon Defense Have you ever wondered how a komodo dragon defends itself? Komodo dragons have the ability to defend themselves against predators. They have sharp claws to grab predators, and to dig burrows. And they have brownish grayish skin for camouflage. Did I mention they have a venomous bite, and if an animal bites it it will die because the komodo dragon s body is full of poison. That's why you should never attack a komodo dragon! Komodo dragons have strong defenses and are tough creatures.
8 Related to a Komodo Dragon Have you ever wondered if komodo dragons travel in groups? Komodo dragons are related to other animal species. They are related to all reptiles,and most live on there own but some live in groups of about six or ten. But dragons mostly get together when they feed. If there are small dragons in a group big dragons may eat them. And sadly the population of dragons is about six thousand that means they are endangered! And that's why I think we need to save the komodo dragons! each other. Komodo dragons mate then leave
9 A Komodo Dragon s Character Imagine if you had the characteristics of a komodo dragon. Komodo dragons have characteristics that make them unique from other animals. Komodo dragons skin is grayish-brown, loose-fitting scales, they are bald with a yellowish-pink tongue. And they have a short neck and stubby legs with a long tail. They also have at least sixty teeth with long claws for digging. Don t komodo dragons have cool characteristics? Komodo dragons have forked tongues like snakes.
