17 30-31 No other dinosaur had such a large powerful skull. It could reach 3 meters long. Its binocular vision provided it with a broad field of vision. Its neck was curved in an S-shape. It was short and muscular, in order to bear the weight of its enormous head. It could measure 15 meters long and up to 5 meters high. It could weigh up to 8 tons. It had many different shaped pointed teeth. The largest one found measured 30 centimeters long. The Tyrannosaurus The front limbs were short and had fingers with two claws. 18 32-33 SCIENTIFIC DESCRIPTION OF THE TYRANNOSAURUS REX Its name in Latin means tyrannical reptile king and thus it is the king of the tyrannical lizards. Tyrannosaurus Rex lived in the Cretaceous period, from 135 to 65 million years ago. Gradually, the two continents (north and south) that existed during the Jurassic period became the modern day continents. The climate was colder, the seasons were more marked and the first flowers appeared. CURIOSITIES: Tyrannosaurus has been claimed that it was the largest animal that has ever lived on Earth. It could move its head in all directions. It had a long heavy tail, it order to balance the head and massive torso. Barnum Brown was an important dinosaur seeker who discovered the first Tyrannosaurus Rex fossils. CHARACTERISTICS Tyrannosaurus Rex was a biped carnivorous dinosaur, which means that it walked on two legs and ate meat. The back legs were very strong and were situated underneath the body. However, the two front ones were small and curiously very strong despite their size, with clawed fingers. It must have had extremely strong neck muscles in order to bear the weight of its large skull. Its teeth were sharp and had hooks in order to tear the meat.when its teeth broke or wore down, new ones grew. It was a ferocious hunter and few animals were able to escape from an attack by Tyrannosaurus Rex.When it hunted, it roared ferociously and could kill its prey with a single bite. In fact, it was very well adapted to hunting and killing: It was large, very strong, had wicked teeth and apparently it also had highly developed senses of smell, hearing and sight for catching its prey. Tyrannosaurus Rex had to eat a lot of meat in order to satisfy its hunger. It attacked other species of dinosaurs.the majority of them kept well away from this great predator.the position of its eyes provided it with excellent vision for hunting, compared to other dinosaurs. It had an extraordinary binocular vision. In order to move its immense body, it required very strong muscles. And in order to compensate for its volume, many bones in the skeleton were hollow, thus decreasing its weight without losing strength. It lived in present day North America.

19 34-35 General about information the Dinosaurs Their name means terrible, powerful lizard or imposing reptile. The dinosaurs were a highly varied group of animals that lived on the Earth millions of years ago.the epoch in which they lived is divided into three great periods:the Triassic, the Jurassic and the Cretaceous. Everything we know about these creatures is thanks to fossils, that is, the remains of plants and animals that lived many years ago and have been transformed into stone. Thanks to these fossilized remains such as bones, footprints, skins and eggs we know what the dinosaurs ate, how they moved about and how they were born Paleontologists are scientists who study fossils.when they find the remains of a dinosaur, the first thing they have to do is to unearth it very carefully.then all the material is transported to the laboratory, trying to prevent it from being damaged.the fossils are often wrapped in plaster, as doctors do when they set broken legs in plaster. Later on, all the remains found are cleaned and finally, the skeleton is assembled as if the bones were pieces of a puzzle. Some of these skeletons can be seen in different museums throughout the world. Thanks to the researchers and scientists, we now know that the dinosaurs hatch from eggs like modern day birds and reptiles. Their skin must have been rough and very thick, similar to that of crocodiles. However, we don t know what color their skin was. We also know that some of them were herbivores, that is, they fed on plants and others were carnivores, that is, they ate meat. Some, the bipeds, walked on two legs, others, the quadrupeds, walked on four legs and others could walk either on two or four legs.although they are known because of their enormous dimensions, some dinosaurs were the same size as a man or even smaller.
