3 What is a snake? A snake is a scaly animal that slithers across grass or dirt. The snake eats rat s mice and birds. A snake doesn t only have one lung, but it has two, the right and the left. Snakes predators can be many things, but some don t even have predators. The snake s poison helps it gets through a large snake, or a big animal. The snake s shelter can be in many places including the ocean and A snake near some rocks by the ocean

4 the rocks. It takes a snake about 6 months to have eggs. When a baby hatches the mom and dad have to give the snake food, shelter, and keep them from danger. When a baby snake is at least 6 months old the snake goes out into the wilderness. Scientists think that they go out by their selves is that they have enough poison in there fangs that they can stay away from danger. If another snake comes towards it, then the snake will use its poison to defend its self from the predator. When a snake is used to the jungle, it starts to shed its skin so it can find shelter. Scientists for years have been testing snakes see if there poisonous. The only way they know if their poisonous you see if they have bright colors. The snake s scales help the snake go on concrete or dirt. Some snakes tumble when they go on sand, but some snakes throw their body weight to go faster on the sand. A snake has to reach water sometime in the day or else its body will dry out. When a snake is in danger it will use parts of its body to get away. 6 Deadly bite A snake s poison can be highly deadly, but most snakes don t even have it, such as the mill snake and the garter snake. If that doesn t work then it goes for the attack. The snake doesn t eject poison then, it has to suffocate before the poison. 9 Shelter safety The habitat of a snake can be anywhere in the world, including the New Zealand islands. Snakes habitats can be in sand water and dirt. Some snakes even dig holes in the ground for protection from the sun. If a snake would not eat for a week then it would most likely way up to only 100 pounds! 11 snake s weight has no average because snakes can get smaller and bigger so no snake is an average. The anaconda is one of the heaviest snakes on earth because it eats buffalo, deer, and gazelle. A snake is a very tricky animal for scientists to weigh because so many snakes have fangs and poison. The anaconda is easy to weigh because they only swallow their food, not poison it.
