P. ) Qinling caves in Luonan County, Shaanxi, China. Two lacertids reported here, Eumeces sp. ( Fig. 1, 3 6) and Eremias sp. (Fig. 1, 7 8) document the geologically first record of the fossil genus from China, and suggested that they are ancestors of modern genus and species in this area. The specimen of Conicodontosaurus is documented a new species : Conicodontosaurus qinlingensis sp. nov. (Fig. 1, 1 2). Lacertilia Owen, 1841( 1842) Fam. Indet. Conicodontosaurus Gilmore, 1943 Conicodontosaurus qinlingensis sp. nov. (Fig. 1, 1 2) Holotype Right dentary, NWUV No other material. Etymology Named after Qinling Mountains, where the new species is discovered. Locality and age Zhangping of Luonan County, Shaanxi Province ; Quaternary (Middle Pleistocene, ka B. P. ).

6 Diagnosis A small adult Conicodontosaurus (tooth row mm long) with the dentary hav2 ing 13 smooth teeth without tumor, their long and up to ward curved dentary other than short and deep in other species of the genus. The Macklin canal is open below the posterior border of the 5th tooth. Description In lingual view, the Meckelian canal appeared as a slender rift under the 5th tooth in internal, then open gradually. The dentary have a tooth2alveolar count of 13, maybe which is the complete tooth row. The 4th tooth is missing. The empty place between teeth 5th and 6th is spaced one tooth base. The 4th and 5th are stronger than others among the row. Many of the teeth in the posterior half of the jaw have bad tips. The teeth are subacrodont, low2crowned, single cusp, conical and stout. The obtusely round teeth are just like Conicodontosaurus djadocbtaensis or C. kanhsienensis but no tumor with them. In labial view, the denary is long, robust, the anterior end slightly untoward and curved internally, with the teeth low2crowned. Two inferior neuroformens are opened from different directions. The first one is opened with a direction to front under the 6th tooth and the second one is opened with a direction to back under the 10th tooth.
