2 SMI: Surgical sutures of highest quality SMI AG was established in the first Belgian Company manufacturing surgical sutures, since when it has grown rapidly. Today it is recognised as a world-wide supplier of surgical sutures. The company is situated in Sankt Vith in the east of Belgium, near to the point where the border of Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg meet. HIGHEST QUALITY AND SECURITY SMI has always applied international standards of quality like EN ISO 9001 and EN ISO as well as Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) procedures. All materials used, as well as finished products are subject to all aspects of quality control by a dedicated team headed by an industrial pharmacist. Quality and security of surgical sutures are thus assured and guaranteed. WORLD-WIDE RECOGNITION Exports to about 60 different countries constitute 75% of the turnover of SMI. This performance was recognised by the Royal Export Award 2000 of the BFTB (Belgian Foreign Trade Board). Should any customer require a non standard presentation, this can be manufactured as a special on request.
