2 IRISH HARVEST SPECIALTIES IS A TRIPLE CROWN EVENT!!! The Triple Crown Trophy, an eight inch Revere bowl, offered by Celeste Gavin-Clark in honor of BIS Ch. Meadowlark's Vindicator, ROM. For permanent possession, the Revere bowl will be awarded to the dog or bitch who wins Best of Breed at all three shows at the Irish Harvest Specialties in the same year. The name of the dog or bitch and date will be engraved on an oak trophy base, which shall remain in the permanent possession of the Irish Setter Club of Central Connecticut. In celebration of the TRIPLE CROWN Event, Randy Kubacz will present a crown to the Best of Breed winner each day.

5 FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY SWEEPSTAKES CLASSES PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES: The Puppy Sweepstakes is open to all Irish Setter Dogs and Bitches who on the day of the show will be over 6 months of age and under 18 months of age. All dogs entered in the Puppy Sweepstakes must be entered in the Regular Classes at this show. Indicate "Puppy Sweepstakes" in the space for Additional Classes (include age division). Puppy Sweepstakes will be as follows in both sexes: 6 months and under 9 months; 9 months and under 12 months; 12 months and under 15 months; 15 months and under 18 months. VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES: The Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Irish Setter Dogs and Bitches who on the day of the show will be at least 7 years of age. Neutered dogs and spayed bitches may be entered in Veteran Sweepstakes. Winners of the Veteran Sweepstakes Classes will compete for Best in Veteran Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite in Sex to Best in Veteran Sweepstakes. Veteran Sweepstakes entrants do not need to be entered in another class at the show. Entries shall be made on the same entry form as for Regular Classes. Indicate "Veteran Sweepstakes" and the appropriate age and sex in the space designated "Additional Classes." Veteran Sweepstakes Classes will be as follows in both sexes: 7 years and under 9 years; 9 years and under 11 years; 11 years and older. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY OBEDIENCE TRIAL CLASSES Effective January 1, 2014, Section 14 of the Obedience Regulations states in part:...females in season are not permitted to compete. If a female is withdrawn from competition because it came into season and the event secretary is notified no later than one half hour prior to the start of the first class in the trial, the club is required to refund the entry fee. The club may retain a processing fee and must publish this information in the premium... In accordance with this regulation, the club will retain $10.00 of the entry fee and refund the remainder to the exhibitor. Numbers may be obtained from the American Kennel Club. (919) NOVICE CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class in a licensed or member show, with competition present. The winner of a Novice Class shall automatically become eligible, upon notice to the Open Class ring steward, to enter and compete in the Open Class at the same show provided the win is the third (3rd) first place award with competition and further providing there are one or more Junior Handlers competing in the Open Class. MASTER CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least nine years old and under eighteen years on the day of the show, and who have won the ten (10) first place wins in an Open Class with Competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be November 1 thru October 31 of the following year. All juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed, all participants return to the Open Class to complete for the following year. DIRECTIONS TO SHOW I-84 East to Exit 67. At an independent breed specialty when there is no competition beyond Best of Breed, a dog or bitch 7 years or older that has been neutered or spayed may compete in the Veteran classes. Versatility-Hunter Dog and Versatility-Hunter Bitch: Shall be limited to class for dogs and class for bitches that have attained a Versatility Certificate, or Versatility Excellent, Junior Hunter, Senior Hunter, or Master Hunter Title. Best of Breed Competition Award of Merit At the judge s discretion, ONE Award of Merit will be awarded. (Not to include Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Winners Dog, Winners Bitch or Select Dog or Select Bitch.) ADDITIONAL CLASSES OFFERED ON SATURDAY ONLY Irish Setter Club of New England Specialty Non-Regular Classes - Multiple Dog Entries Stud Dog Class: Shall be for Stud Dogs and two (but not more than four) of their Get. Stud dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. Owner of Stud Dog need not be the owner of the Get. Class only to be judged based on the merits of the Get. While the merits of the Stud dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the dog show rules, AKC policy, or the standard for its breed. Brood Bitch Class: Same as stud dog except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog and produce for get. Brace Class: Shall be for two dogs, irrespective of sex, with at least one common owner. This will be for all the winners of the bred by classes of all three days. Judged by breeder judge, Pat Kudla Winner shall receive a rosette & a commemorative plaque donated by the Ramblin Red Irish Setter Family in memory of BIS Am. Can. Ch. Ramblin' Red Fortune Teller aka Gypsy.

7 AKC National Owner Handled Series (NOHS) AKC National Owner- Handler Series is a non-titling competition created in direct response to Owner- Handlers desire to compete against other Owner-Handlers. Owner-Handlers will still enter and compete in the regular classes to win Best of Breed. Then, just before the regular class judging is complete, the recognition of Owner-Handler Best of Breed will be awarded. Determining Exhibitor Eligibility: The first step in judging the AKC National Owner-Handled Series is determining exhibitor eligibility. Follow these tips to properly make the eligibility determination: Exhibitors must declare their dog AKC National Owner-Handled Series eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. * The handler must be an owner of record according to the AKC s records as of the date of the show. * Dogs declared eligible will be identified by an asterisk or other representative mark in the steward s book and in the show catalog. * Professional handlers, household members and current assistants to professional handlers may not exhibit. A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis, or, assisting a professional handler at the show or any show during the cluster/weekend. * Dogs must be handled by an owner-handler eligible for the AKC National Owner-Handled Series throughout the breed level competition for the regular show. This includes the class competition and subsequent competition in the breed ring. Additionally, dogs must be handled by an eligible owner-handler for all AKC National Owner-Handled Series competition. * The Owner-Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the eligible dogs that competed in the Best of Breed/Variety competition for the regular show. This includes Winners Dog, Winners Bitch, and the undefeated winners of the non-regular classes. This excludes all dogs defeated during class and winners competition for the regular show.

All entries with fees (payable in US funds) to Susan Johnson, Show Secretary and must be received by: 6:00 PM, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2015 after which time entries cannot be accepted, cancelled, or substituted as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 4 of the Dog Show Rules. Telephoned and telegraphed entries are not accepted. All changes, additions or corrections must be received in writing or prior to closing. ENTRY ERRORS, REFUNDS: Entries not on official AKC Entry Forms and photocopies of entry forms without the Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the official AKC entry form are not acceptable. Entries will not be accepted without fees or signatures. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry fee will be refunded in the event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. No refund for duplicate entries; we will make every effort to find all duplicate entries but, if an entry has been processed, no refund will be made. Entry Fee will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by the Show Committee. If, because of riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry will be made. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a $30.00 collection fee to each returned check. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Acknowledgment of entries and a Judging Program will be made as soon as practical after entries have been closed; should such acknowledgment not be received within a reasonable time, notify the Show Secretary at or SJShowSec@aol.com Consult Judging Program for time of judging. DOGS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING. Judges are not required to wait for dogs. DOGS MAY ARRIVE any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. No dog may be permanently removed from the show before it is judged, except by consent of the Show Secretary upon a Veterinarian s recommendation of removal. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Only dogs that are eligible to be shown under AKC rules shall be allowed within the precincts. All dogs present must be held on a leash or confined to their crates or pens unless being judged. LOSS OR DAMAGE: The show giving clubs, the Show Secretary, their agents, employees, etc. assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assume no responsibility for injury to children. Tolland County Agricultural Center shall not be held responsible for any accident or damage to person or property that occurs during these events. Exhibitors agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tolland County Agricultural Center, its director, officers, employees, and agents against and from any costs or disbursements regarding any such accident or damage. NOTE: Dogs, which according to their owners records, have completed the requirements for a Championship after the closing of entries for the show, but whose Championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed (Variety) Competition, provided this transfer is made at least one half-hour prior to the start of any regular conformation judging at the show. ATTENTION: Exhibitors and handlers will be held responsible for clean conditions in and around their area. The Pavilion is not available to the exhibitors or their dogs and anyone violating these restrictions will be personally responsible for any fee or fine charged by the management. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE RECYCLING CONTAINERS FOR TRASH PLEASE do not drive next to the ring while dogs are actively showing. PLEASE wait until the class in the ring has finished. NOTE: A Recording Fee of $0.50 and an Event Service Fee of $3.00 will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show, Obedience Trial or Tracking Test. If a dog is entered in more than one class in one of these events, the Recording Fee is to be collected on the first entry only and the Event Service Fee is to be collected on each of the entries of that dog. (There is no Recording Fee or Event Service Fee for Jr Showmanship, Sweepstakes, Futurities, Brace/Team, Multi-Dog Classes, Obedience/Rally Non-Regular Classes or Special Attractions.) You will need the dates of your dog's last vaccination for Parvo, distemper and any other vaccines. Form is on ISCA Website: 13.pdf What is the benefit of antibody testing? Why not just revaccinate? Antibody or titer testing is much safer than revaccinating an already immune animal. Although the potential for the vaccine to cause an adverse reaction is low, if the animal does not need the vaccine, this risk is completely unnecessary and the dog should not be vaccinated! The canine viruses which cause distemper (CDV), parvoviral enteritis (CPV-2), and infectious hepatitis (CAV-1), along with rabies virus, have a high correlation between presence of antibody and protective immunity. The two antibody tests that are most often recommended in lieu of revaccination are for CDV and CPV-2, as explained in detail below. When the tests show the animal is protected by antibody, there is no need for revaccination. Whereas, when the tests show the animal does not have antibody, the animal should be vaccinated, as CDV and CPV-2 cause severe, life threatening diseases that often result in expensive treatment procedures and high morbidity even with treatment. Some dogs that survive will have lifelong neurologic problems (especially survivors of CDV). How often should I perform an antibody test for canine distemper (CDV) or canine parvovirus-2 (CPV-2)? The most important time in the life of a dog to perform an antibody test is 2 or more weeks after the last puppy dose of CDV/CPV-2, which should be given at 14 to 16 weeks of age or older. The reason this is important is to ensure your puppy is immune to these two life threatening diseases. If the dog does not have an antibody titer, it should be revaccinated immediately and retested 2 or more weeks later to ensure immunity has developed. These two viruses are much more likely to cause severe disease and death in the young animal, but they can cause disease and death at any age if the animal is not immunized (has not developed antibody to the viruses). When demonstrating antibody after the series of puppy vaccinations, you can test the dog again in a year. If the dog is immune, you need not repeat testing more often than every 3 or more years Anne Marie Kubacz LVT, ISCA Health Chair, will give a short talk about what titers are, and answer questions.
