The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from t he date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship, according to the owner's records. If at the end of the 90-day period the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by the American Kennel Club, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition a r e to be made until its championship has been confirmed by the AKC. The Show Secretary must receive within seven days of the trial, a veterinarian s certificate stating the condition to have been in effect the day of the Trial. The exercises will be performed a nd judged as in the Novice Class. Dogs may be entered in another class or classes. SWEEPSTAKES The sweepstakes is open to all Shetland Sheepdogs who, on the day of the show. will be at least six (6) months and under eighteen (18) months of age. No champions of record may be entered in Sweepstakes. All Entries must be entered in a regular class at the regular fee. Sweepstakes and age division must be indicated on the regular entry form in the space for "ADDITIONAL CLASSES. The following classes will be provided for both dogs and bitches. There Is no entry fee for Sweepstake Class Entries. PUPPY, 6 MOS & UNDER 9 MOS PUPPY, 9 MOS & UNDER 12 MOS PUPPY, 12 MOS & UNDER 18 MOS The Sweepstakes winner shall be selected from the winners of each of the above classes and will receive cash prize money. A Runner-up to Best in Sweepstakes shall be selected from the remaining class winners and will receive cash prize money also. Best in Sweepstakes. $50.00 Runner-Up to Best in Sweepstakes $25.00 REGULAR & NON-REGULAR CLASS TROPHIES This is a condensed form of the Premium List as provided in Chapter 6 Section 2A of the AKC Rules Applying to Registration and Dog Shows. A Trophy List may be obtained by contacting: lynnlea1@comcast.net If an owner believes his/her dog completed an AKC title by a win or qualifying score at these shows, he/she may request a special "New Title" rosette from the show secretary. JUNIOR showmanship (AM only) Novice Junior Class: This shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Intermediate Class: This shall be for boys and girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Senior Class: This shall be for boys and girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. A first place in Novice without competition leading to a Best Junior award with competition would count as one win towards moving to Open at a licensed or member show. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition, if a win in Novice leads to a Best Junior with competition present it will count as one win towards moving to Open, after the closing of entries for a show are required to transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class by notifying the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show. Open Junior Class: This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show, and who at the time entries close, have won three first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice Class. Open Intermediate Class: This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show, and who at the time entries close, have won three first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice Class. Open Senior Class: This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who at the time entries close, have won three first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice Class. Master: This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won 10 Best Junior wins with competition. The calendar for this class will be consist ent with the eligibility dates for the AKC National Championship. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed, all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship. 3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog i.e., age division, color division, weight division. 4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been mailed to AKC (For complete rule refer to Chapter 11, Section 3).
