Amateur Owner Handler Bitches Bred by Exhibitor Bitches American Bred Bitches Open Bitches Winners Bitch Best of Breed Competition The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner s records. If, at the end of the 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by AKC, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by AKC. Grand Champion Select When quality warrants, after BOB and BOS are awarded, a Select Dog (SD) and Select Bitch (SB) may be chosen from the remaining Champions (Non Regular Class winners that are Champions and Qualify for BOB are eligible) - (WD or WB are not eligible) (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 3, Section 14 Effective ) Awards of Merit The Judge of the Best of Breed competition may at her discretion award a maximum of Three (3) Awards of Merit. Amateur Owner Handler For dogs that are at least six months of age that are not champions. Dogs must be handled in the class by the registered owner of the dog and is limited to exhibitors who have not, at any point in time, been a professional handler, AKC approved conformation judge, or employed as an assistant to a professional handler. Additionally, members of the immediate family or household of a current professional handler are ineligible for this class (as defined in Chapter 11, Section 13). Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay. Best Bred - By Exhibitor and BBE Eligibility All dogs entered in the Bred-By Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. Family members must be both a breeder and owner of record to exhibit in the class. Any entry in the Bred-by-Exhibitor classes that is awarded Best of Breed or Best of Winners would automatically be Best Bred-by-Exhibitor. Only the dog or bitch not defeated in Bred-by-Exhibitor are eligible for the Best Bred-by-Exhibitor competition. Best Puppy Any entry in the puppy classes that is awarded Best of Breed or Best of Winners would automatically be Best Puppy. Only dogs not defeated in a puppy class are eligible for Best Puppy competition. Non - Regular Classes Involving Single Dog Entries Veteran Dogs (For Dogs 7 Years but under 10 years) Veteran Bitches (For Bitches 7 years but under 10 years) Veteran Dogs (For Dogs 10 Years of Age or older) Veteran Bitches (For Bitches 10 years of age or older) Neutered Dogs and Spayed Bitches may compete in the Veterans Classes only at independent specialties and by virtue of winning the class may compete for Best of Breed. (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 14, Section 8.) Non - Regular Classes Involving Multiple Dog Entries NOTE: As the judges' decision in the Stud Dog/Brood Bitch Classes will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. Stud Dog Class For Stud Dogs and two of their Get. Stud dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with two of their Get. Owner of the Stud Dog need not necessarily be owner of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy, or the standard for its breed. Get must be entered in a Regular Class, Best of Breed Competition or some other Non-Regular Class. Brood Bitch Class Same as Stud Dog Class except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog and Produce for Get. As the judge s decision in the Stud Dog and Brood Bitch Classes will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. 8

If a female is withdrawn from competition because it came into season and the event secretary is notified no later than one half hour prior to the start of the first class in the trial, the club is required to refund the entry fee. The club will retain a $4.00 processing fee for the cancellation of an entry. Sweepstakes Rules Sweepstakes is open to all Pembroke Welsh Corgis 6 months of age and under 18 months of age who have NOT earned the title of Champion of Record. All entries for Sweepstakes must be entered in one or more of the Regular Classes and entry must be made at the same time, on the same entry blank that the Regular Class entries are made by indicating Sweepstakes in the space provided for additional classes; giving the age division and including the additional fee as listed on the official AKC Entry Form. I (we) agree that the club holding this show or obedience trial has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem to be sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of the show or obedience trial and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prize money, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold this club, its members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or show secretary and the owners or lessor of the premises and any employees of the aforementioned parties, harmless from any claims for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or upon the show or obedience trial premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss of this dog by disappearance, theft, death or otherwise, and from any claim for damage or injury to the dog, whether such loss, disappearance, theft, damage or injury, be caused or alleged to be caused by the negligence of the club or any of the parties aforementioned, or by the negligence of any other person, or any other cause or causes. I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify and save the aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting therefrom, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves), or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in this show or obedience trial, howsoever such injuries death or damage to property may be caused, and whether or not the same may have been caused or may be alleged to have been caused by negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees or agents, or any other persons. Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings.
