JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP is $30.00 for each event if entered for 'Junior Showmanship Only' or $10.00 if an Additional Entry for each event. Four-To- Six Month Beginner Puppy is $20.00 for each dog for each event. Fees include the 50 AKC Recording Fee and the $3.00 AKC Event Service Fee on the first entry of a dog and a $3.00 AKC Event Service Fee for each additional entry of the same dog in the regular and non-regular recordable single entry classes, or the $2.00 AKC Event Service Fee on each entry in Four-To-Six Month Beginner Puppy. "Dogs found in an unsafe environment, distress or harm s way (for example: left unattended on a grooming table in a noose not attached to a safety release clip; left in a vehicle without proper ventilation) will be removed to safety. Exposing a dog to an unsafe environment, distress or harm s way is considered mistreatment. No dogs that are disqualified for aggression will be allowed to enter these Shows, nor be allowed to be on the grounds. Exhibitors are responsible for keeping their grooming area clean. Golf carts, scooters and any motorized vehicles (excluding Wheelchairs) are not allowed in the building. No Dog/Grooming strollers or any other strollers allowed in the exhibition building. Please turn off cell phones and pagers before entering the ring. If your dog lifts his leg in a doorway please notify the clean-up people so it can be wiped up. Exhibitors are to follow the diagram as marked on the Grooming Area Floor. The Elgin Kennel Club reserves the right to move any exhibitor's crates and equipment who do not follow the diagram for the grooming area to make room for fellow exhibitors. A watchman will be on duty Friday & Saturday nights however dogs will be left at owner s risk. The building will be locked from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. No ex-pens or mats allowed in grassy areas between parking lanes in parking area. No motorhome parking on the North side of the Exhibition hall on asphalt. Spaces will be assigned. Reservations must be received by closing of entries August 8, Any reservations received after the spaces have been sold out will be returned. There is a Dump Station on the east side of the RV Parking Area. Payment in full must be received by the closing Date. The show site will be made available to RV s beginning at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, August 24, The cost per night will be $45.00 for reserved parkingyou will be escorted to your parking space. Do NOT proceed to a RV Parking Space without being escorted. No Reservations will be refunded after show entries closing date. The rates for dry or 20 Amp parking will be $30.00 per night. GATES WILL BE LOCKED AT MIDNIGHT EACH EVENING & OPENED AT 6 A.M. The size of each Stall is 16' by 40'. Your vehicle and ex-pens must fit within the parking space provided. If you have a car that is being towed, it must fit inside your space or must be parked in the parking area on the North side of the Building opposite of the RV Parking area. THERE IS TO BE NO RV PARKING ON THE BLACKTOP ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE SHOW BUILDING OR IN THE RV PARKING AREA OUTSIDE OF A DESIGNATED SPACE. NO PARKING OR RV"S AFTER 10PM!! You may park in the staging area after that time on the west side of the show site in the gaqvel parking lot. Gate will be re-opened at 6AM the following morning. Any RV Parking Spaces remaining the Friday prior to the show, will be sold at on a first come first served basis until all spaces are filled at the rate of $50.00 per night. All sawdust, shavings, or other ex-pen bedding MUST be cleaned up and removed by the individual responsible for that space or a $40.00 cleanup fine will be charged. If you wish to be next to someone else, both reservations need to be sent together in the same envelope with the amount of the deposit equaling the amount due per space. 4 Mail Early-Entries Close Wednesday Noon (EDT), August 8, FOUR-TO-SIX MONTH BEGINNER PUPPY COMPETITION The Four-to-Six Month Beginner Puppy competition shall be for dogs that are four months of age and under six months on the day of the event. Classes will not be divided by sex in this competition. Classes will be offered for Breeds & Varieties and divided into Groups as described in Chapter 3, Section 1 of Rules Applying to Dog Shows and the Miscellaneous Class Breeds as listed in Chapter 3, Section 23. The Miscellaneous Class competition will be equivalent of Group Competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. The FSS Competition will be the equivalent of Group Competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for entries of an AKC recognized breed as listed in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. A Foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. FSS Number of FSS Registered litter number will be required for Miscellaneous and FSS Breed Entries. All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian s protocol. Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants and household members of a professional handler. Exhibitors should open their dog s mouth for examination. If the judge finds it necessary to open the mouth they should disinfect their hands prior to examining other dogs. Male puppies without 2 fully descended testicles need not be disqualified or excused but the judge s book must describe the condition and Certificate of Merit points must be withheld. Dogs with breed standard disqualifications should not be excused but may not receive placements. However, dogs with age related disqualifications such as color (as related to age), height, teeth etc. are permitted to receive awards in the 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy classes. Dogs must be excused for attacking a person or other dogs. No dog is to be judged if it is brought into the ring bandaged, taped, glued or stitched anywhere including ears or tail. These dogs must be excused from judging but, at the judge s discretion, may return to be judged after the tape or bandage is removed. Dealing with Misconduct will be applicable to any person and dog entered at this competition. All applicable rules found in Rules Applying to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise. Mr. James Donahue ************ AKC National Owner-Handled Series ************ The purpose of the AKC National Owner Handled Series (NOHS) is to recognize and showcase the quality dogs being exhibited by owner/handlers and to provide a venue for the owner/handlers to compete against their peers. The determination of the awards in the AKC National Owner Handled Series is based solely on the quality of the entry. The owner/handler s handling ability is not of consideration. There is no additional fee to enter this competition. Entries must be marked as eligible to compete in the AKC NOHS prior to the closing of entries for that show. Dogs declared eligible must be identified by an asterisk or other representative mark in the judge s book, steward s book, and the show catalog. The Owner Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the eligible dogs that competed in the Best of Breed/Variety competition for the regular show. This includes Winners Dog, Winners Bitch, and the undefeated winners of the non regular classes. This excludes all dogs defeated during class and winners competition for the regular show. RAMP BREEDS: Designated ramp breeds may be examined on the ground or on a ramp during breed judging according to the sole discretion of the judge & not the exhibitor. The entire entry in that breed is to be examined on the ground or on a ramp. A judge requesting the use of a ramp must give reasonable notice to the Show Superintendent/Event Secretary prior to judging. AKC approval is not required. This policy extends to Junior Showmanship, the 4 6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition, the AKC National Owner Handled Series (NOHS), and all other special attractions that offer Group and BIS competitions. Emergencies In emergency situations, with the approval of the Show Chair, breeds customarily examined on the ground may be examined on a ramp, not on a table. An emergency is defined as a temporary condition that arose immediately prior to or at a dog show. Convalescence from a medical procedure, illness and recuperation from injuries are examples of conditions that are not emergencies. The emergency use of a ramp may be allowed on a day and may be extended to include a cluster as well as judging either a group and/or Best In Show. (In all but emergency situations, the exhibitor has no recourse. In an emergency situation, where use of a ramp is not indicated in the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund).
