Starting out with the PetWalk thank you to all who turned out to support the HHS. We had fun. Our Halloween with Captain America was blast. Thank you Uncle Jamie visit facebook and instagram for many more pictures. Before we know it the holidays will be here. Here is our holiday schedule.please let us know if you have any special requirements. Thanksgiving Day November 28 - day care closed boarding available Christmas Eve - Tuesday 12/24 open for day care until 7pm. Boarding available Christmas Day Wednsday 12/25 day care closed boarding available New Years Eve Tuesday 12/31 Day Care open until 8pm New Years Eve Party Boarding available! Let your dog party with friends while you party with your friends. If your dog is afraid of fireworks then ODDC is the quiet place to be. 1

Birthday parties if your dog is at day care on their birthday let the staff know so we can have a paw-ty!! During the holidays, it is very tempting to want to treat our pets to something special such as gravy, turkey drippings and table food. These high fat foods can cause diarrhea, vomiting and overload the pet s digestive system. Many small pets, especially, can be adversely affected from what might seem, is a tiny piece of a holiday dinner. It is quite common for emergency animal clinics to be filled with dogs and cats suffering from a severe bout of pancreatitis during the holidays. Giving pets table scraps such as fat from meat, cooked bones, turkey drippings and gravy, even in small amounts, can make them sick. Pet owners and doting relatives who overindulge the pet in holiday food are not only causing a change in the pet s diet (which can make them sick on its own) but combining that with high fat foods can lead to serious, sometimes even fatal consequences. If you really want to give your pet an extra snack, then please plan ahead. Keep safe treats such as your pet s favorite treat available or consider having fresh vegetables (steamed or raw), a piece of baked yam or a small piece of LEAN meat set aside. Show family members the "safe" treats for your pet and have an appropriate amount clearly displayed in a special dish. Once the treats run out, be sure the "treating" stops. 2

3 Dangerous Foods For Pets The following foods can be dangerous to pets: * Chocolate * Grapes or raisins * Onions (cooked or raw) * Sweets (cookies, cake, ice cream, etc.) * Rolls/bread (many pets are allergic to gluten) * High fat foods such as butter, gravy or drippings * Cooked bones (they can cause choking and tearing in the GI tract) Please make safety your #1 priority: 1) Keep pets in a designated part of your home if guests come over so that they can t get loose when the door opens 2) Don t leave pet alone in a room when candles are burning 3) Plan ahead if you want to give them some special treats 4) Play and exercise with your pet before guests arrive Welcome to all the new members of ODDC.
