3 ELIGIBILITY FOR CLASSES In the following definitions of classes First Prizes or other prize wins are those gained in standard classes at any Kennel Club licensed Open Agility Shows (i.e. Limited Agility Shows, special classes and invitation events excepted). Only a first place with a clear round within course time will count towards grade progression. Agility classes include contact points and Jumping classes are where there are no contact obstacles. Class Structure. A Class may be held either as a Graded Class or a Combined Class. A Graded Class may be scheduled for one or more consecutive Grades with separate results and awards issued for each grade. A Combined Class may be scheduled for more than one consecutive grade with one overall set of results. Progression. Progression from each Grade will require one Agility win or three Jumping wins at that grade, except that progression from Grade 6 will require 4 wins at Grade 6, two of which must be agility classes. Results from Combined Classes will only count towards progression from the dog s current grade. Points Progression. At the handler s discretion a dog may progress up to Grade 5 by winning 75 points at each grade, using the Agility Warrant points scheme (Regulation K3.c refers), except that there is no requirement for a minimum number of agility points. If this method of progression is selected, the handler must ensure the Show Secretary signs the dog s Agility Record Book at the first show entered at the higher grade. There is no time limit on this progression; however once a dog has progressed, it cannot return to a previous grade. For Large, Medium & Small dogs STANDARD CLASSES. Only first prizes and points gained with clear rounds in standard classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows may be used for progression through the classes (a dog is eligible for only one grade). In defining the eligibility of the owner or handler for Grade 1, the three jumping wins and points progression referred to in the definition apply only to one dog and not an accumulation of dogs. Grade 1 For owners, handlers or dogs which have not gained a 1 st place in an Agility Class or three 1 st places in Jumping Classes at KC licensed [Elementary] Agility Shows. Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 1 [Elementary] are not eligible for this class. Grade 2 [Starters] Grade 3 [Graduate] Grade 4 [Novice] Grade 5 [Intermediate] Grade 6 [Senior] Grade 7 [Advanced] Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grades 1,3,4,5,6,7 and have not gained a 1 st place in an Agility class or three 1 st places in Jumping classes at Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows, or elected to progress on points from Grade 1. N.B. Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 2 (starters) are not eligible for this class. Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grade 1 or 2 or have elected to progress on points from Grade 2 at KC licensed Agility Shows and dogs which are not eligible for Grade 4, 5, 6 or 7. Open to dogs which have gained a 1 st place in an Agility Class or three 1 st places in Jumping Classes at Grade 3 or elected to progress on points from Grade 3 at KC licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 5,6 or 7. Open to dogs which have gained a 1 st place in an Agility class or three 1 st places in Jumping Classes at Grade 4 or elected to progress on points from Grade 4 at KC licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 6 or 7. Open to dogs which have gained a 1 st place in an Agility Class or three 1 st places in Jumping Classes at Grade 5 at KC licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 5 or 7. Open to all dogs which have gained a minimum of four 1 st places at Grade 6 at KC licensed Agility Shows. Two 1 st places must be gained in Agility (not Jumping) classes. MEASUREMENT: In accordance with Kennel Club rules, Large dogs (except those which have competed before 1st January 2006) and ALL Small and Medium dogs must have been officially measured before competing at a Kennel Club licensed agility show. Record books or proof of measurement must be available on request. Dogs can only enter the class for which they are eligible i.e. Small, Medium or Large. Dogs eligible to compete in competitions for Small dogs are those measuring 35cms or under at the withers. Dogs eligible to compete in competitions for Medium dogs are those measuring over 35cms and 43cms or under at the withers. Dogs eligible to compete in competitions for Large dogs are those measuring over 43cms at the withers. CRUFTS and DISCOVER DOGS Qualifiers The following regulations apply to all Crufts and Discover Dogs qualifying Agility competitions and heats: All events must be judged under the appropriate Kennel Club regulations H & H (1) in force at the time of the event. Competitors entering any competition will be deemed to have agreed to abide by these regulations. All heats must take place at Kennel Club licensed shows and the class name in the schedule should replicate exactly the name of the competition as stated in these regulations. All Kennel Club supported competitions should be judged using standard marking. If the entry for the heat exceeds the Kennel Club limit for a judge in a day, then the class will be equally split and another judge appointed for the second part. Qualifiers and points from that heat will be taken in equal proportion from each part. Dogs entered in any heats must be eligible for the competition entered. Judges have the right to check the dog s Kennel Club Agility Record Book to ensure the dog is running in the correct height category. Where points are accumulated throughout the year these will be allocated to the specific handler and dog partnership (no substitution of dog or handler may be made). If there is an equality of points after all the heat results have been calculated, the dog and handler partnership which has achieved the highest place at a heat will take preference in the final allocation of places. Crufts Large Novice ABC Agility Stakes (Special) Eligibility: This is a special agility competition open to all dogs excluding Border Collies, Working Sheepdogs and any of their crosses. In the event of a dispute over the parentage of a dog, a decision will be left to the judge s discretion. Dogs eligible to compete in competition for Large dogs are those measuring over 430 mm (1 foot 5 inches) at the withers. Dogs should be eligible to compete at Grade 1 5 at the time of qualifying for the semifinal. Any subsequent wins gained by the dog will not alter its eligibility to compete in the semi final or final. Trent Park Dog Agility Club Open Agility Show 16 September 2012 Page 3

Standard rules will apply and all equipment used shall be of a standard size set at the maximum height for each category. This is a relay competition with a baton change taking place either in a box or behind a line at the judges discretion. The competition will involve a change of height of the obstacles being jumped by the medium/large dogs at one stage during the class. The judge will decide which height of dog to start with and will announce the change of height when relevant. It is the competitors responsibility to be available accordingly. The course will be walked by everyone before the beginning of the class. Qualifying: Points will be awarded to the specific pair (consisting of two handlers with their dogs) which competes at the heat. Points are not transferable between different pair combinations. Pairs will score 15 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 15th place. Points will be accumulated over all eight heats and the 15 pairs with the most points will go through to the final at Discover Dogs The winner of the Small / Mixi Pairs Challenge will be the pair with the fastest time with the least faults.
