It is hoped that they will attract a reasonable number of entries for the Judge to include on his/her CV. Note that these Special Award Classes are an entirely separate entity from the Open Show. If a dog is beaten in the Special Award Classes it is NOT classed as a beaten dog and is not disqualified from challenging in the main show. Dogs entered in Special Award Classes must also be entered in the main show. RULES & REGULATIONS. 1. The Show will open at 10-30am. 2. Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitor s responsibility to ensure that exhibits are available for judging when required. 3. Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. The Show will close half an hour after all judging has been completed. 5. 7 10. Best Puppy in Show Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Show respectively. Where the Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best in Show respectively. 11. Best in Show Best in Show must be selected from the exhibits declared Best of Sex but only if they have received a first prize in a class at the same show. If a Reserve Best in Show is to be selected, the eligible dogs are those declared Best Opposite Sex and the Reserve Best of Sex to the exhibit declared Best in Show. 12. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management. 13. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 15. All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor. 16. DOGS IN VEHICLES ON HOT DAYS. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC Licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around your dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember - if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. 17. Not for Competition: Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 18. No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 19. BEST VETERAN/VINTAGE IN SHOW: Only those dogs that are entered into the Veteran/Special Vintage Classes are eligible to compete for Best Veteran/Vintage in Show. If the Best in Show or Res Best in Show is from the Veteran/Special Vintage Classes, it will automatically be declared Best Veteran/Vintage in Show. 20. Any owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dogs and/or grooming waste at any Kennel Club Licensed Show within the Licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. Any organisation holding a Kennel Club Licensed event is required to provide an adequate number of receptacles for the disposal of such fouling. 21. EXHIBITORS PASSES WILL NOT BE SENT OUT: Please enclose a stamped addressed postcard if acknowledgment for receipt of entries is required. 22. All Gangways MUST be kept clear.
8 23. The Show will be held under K.C. Rules & Show regulations. Every exhibitor making an entry or entries at this Show shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by these rules & regulations & it is on this understanding that entries are received. 24. Exhibitors/handlers are responsible for clearing up and removing any loose hair or fouling from dogs in their charge or any other litter, whether from the car park, the exercise area or from any other part of the venue. 25. Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults It is the policy of this club that all Children and Vulnerable Adults are welcome to participate fully in its shows and other events, but this is on the clear understanding that parents/guardians/carers/companions are responsible for ensuring at all times the welfare and safety of those in their charge. Those in charge of all of the above will also be held fully responsible for their actions and any damage within the environs of the Show. 26. Should a Judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement the Committee reserve to themselves the right to appoint another Judge subject to K.C. approval. In which case exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw their dogs but entry money will not be refunded. 27. The Committee will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to a dog or dogs or any property whether arising from accident or any other cause nor for any act of omission of itself, its officers, servants or others and it is on this understanding only that entries are accepted. 28. Cups & Trophies will only be awarded to exhibitors who are Members of the Club at the time the exhibit is entered for the Show, and in the case of partnerships, each partner must be a Member of the Club. 29. In accordance with KC Regulation F (1)11, no animal other than an exhibit should be brought into the precincts of a Dog Show during its continuance, except any dogs registered to assist the disabled, those brought for health testing (provided that the appropriate entry form declaration has been signed) or dogs required for educational or instructional purposes or by permission of the General Committee. However, at the discretion of the show society, a dog brought to the show by a spectator may be admitted into the precincts of the dog show, with the proviso that those in charge of the dog sign a declaration confirming the dog is free from disease and that the dog will be kept under proper control at all times. Puppies under the age of 4 months will not be allowed. 30. Entry money will be refunded for a dog prevented from exhibiting because of an infectious illness diagnosed after entries close and upon producing a valid Veterinary Certificate. 31.
