3 Presidents Report Wow I cant believe it is May already. Our shows went off well in March with judges from UK & USA, luckily we were able to contract Stephen Craven NSW at short notice when Mr. Rawlings fell ill a few days before our show. Id like to thank Pam Rawlings for honoring her contract even though her husband was ill in the UK. All the judges enjoyed their stay in Adelaide. Skip and Lisa Greaney hired their own car and did some site seeing before and after the shows before flying to New Zealand to judge. Pam stayed a few days and the committee took her to a few local tourist spots before she headed home. All the critiques were sent out within a week of the show to members and will be up on our website soon. Our Secretary Mari is in Scotland for a family holiday with husband Harry, they had a bit of a scare on their arrival with Harry spending a short time in the hospital. Luckily he was released and they are continuing their journey with family. I wish them all the best and a safe trip home soon.. The committee has been extremely busy organizing the Trophy Show Weekend in March 2017, it will be held in the Barossa Valley Tourist Park in Nuriootpa and the information package will be ed out soon. Our Funday went off well, at the new venue down south, we had a good turn out and it was nice to see a few different faces (people and doggies) In closing I would like to welcome our new members and hope to catch out an bout at a show or funday. 20 DogsSA Shows Shows at David Roche Park (Dogs SA) With daylight saving and the warmer weather now here many shows held over summer, are evening shows with most starting at 6pm. It makes for a nice evening out if you haven t been down to check out the Bull Terriers and Bull Terrier Miniatures in the show ring. There are many all breeds shows held on most weekends throughout the year. Check Dogs SA website for dates and times or the club btcsainc@gmail.com Bull Terriers and Bull Terrier Miniatures are judged in the Terrier Group (Group 2) and are judged in alphabetical order within that group, so they are usually close to being on first pending on how many breeds there are before them on the day. 27 CODE OF ETHICS The Bull Terrier Club of South Australia Inc. The Bull Terrier Club of S A Inc. believes that the following set of principles and practices should be an integral part of the activities of all Bull Terrier owners and breeders in the interests and the welfare of all Bull Terrier/Bull Terrier (Miniature) in accordance of the Breed Standard. The club understands that extenuating circumstances and situations may in rare cases result in deviations from these practices. In these circumstances, the matter shall be put in writing to the committee for discussion and adjudication. It is expected that owners and breeders would always act in the interests and welfare of their dogs and the Bull Terrier breed. A number of the following clauses are included in the Code of Ethics of the South Australian Canine Association (SACA). Breaches of these clauses are subject to disciplinary action by the SACA, and the Bull Terrier Club of SA will refer matters to the SACA if it is in possession of evidence of such a breech. As a Breeder/Owner/Exhibitor of Bull Terrier/s, I declare that: 1. I will not mate my Bull Terrier to any dog or bitch that is not on full registration. 2. I will sell only Bull Terriers in a good healthy condition, a minimum of 8 weeks of age, vaccinated and wormed. Free to my knowledge, from any communicable disease and/or parasitic infestation. All potential new owners must be made aware of the following known hereditary diseases; Polycystic Kidney Disease PKD Nephritis Heart Patella Deafness Primary Lens Luxation PLL miniatures only 3. At the time of sale, I will where applicable supply each purchaser with the following: Written dietary information General and breed specific health care information available on the BTCSA Inc Website Immunization Certificate Three or four generation pedigree main or limited register Written fully detailed receipt Terms and conditions of sale Where applicable Honorary 12 months FREE membership for those new owners within Australia (providing the breeder is a financial member of the BTCSA Inc breeders directory) Advise new puppy owners that they may contact their local council for any known obedience clubs. 4. I will make myself available to purchasers of my puppies for consultation, throughout the lifetime of every dog, and will willingly give information and advice in the interests of the welfare of dogs I have bred. 5. I will not sell or donate any Bull Terrier to any commercial dog wholesaler or retail pet dealers, either directly or indirectly allow them to be given as prizes in contests of any kind, or for any purpose that may lead to their exploitation. 6. I will strongly advise purchasers of Bull Terrier not sold for show and/or breeding purposes to be desexed or placed on limited register. 7. Showmanship- as per the SACA constitution (page 22 section 35) I will behave in a sportsmanship like manner. I will accept the decision of the judges at any sanctioned show.
