21 Interdog Aggression Often occurs between 1-3 years of age Not associate with sexual maturity (6-8 months of age) Anecdotal: worst fights are between females. Interdog Aggression - Unfamiliar React because they are afraid of other dog or apparently think there is a social threat. Easier to control because owner can control situations where dog is in contact with other dogs. Interdog Agg - Housemates Not due to: Inadequate socialization abuse Two scenarios Often younger dog challenges older dog at social maturity Older dog perceives threat that isn t there Context of aggression very important 21

22 Interdog Agg - Housemates Key to treatment: ALWAYS reward the dog being the most appropriate for the situation. Interdog Agg - Housemates Potentially one of most dangerous forms of aggression Dog attacks another dog who is giving appropriate body language serious threat for injury/death 22
