Nearby hotels have refused some exhibitors in the past. Damage waivers and additional deposits are necessary at most hotels. 3 Mail Early-Entries Close Wednesday Noon (EDT), May 23, FOUR-TO-SIX MONTH BEGINNER PUPPY COMPETITION SATURDAY, JUNE 9, 2018 The Four-to-Six Month Beginner Puppy competition shall be for dogs that are four months of age and under six months on the day of the event. Classes will not be divided by sex in this competition. Classes will be offered for Breeds & Varieties and divided into Groups as described in Chapter 3, Section 1 of Rules Applying to Dog Shows and the Miscellaneous Class Breeds as listed in Chapter 3, Section 23. The Miscellaneous Class competition will be equivalent of Group Competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. The FSS Competition will be the equivalent of Group Competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for entries of an AKC recognized breed as listed in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. A Foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. FSS Number of FSS Registered litter number will be required for Miscellaneous and FSS Breed Entries. All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian s protocol. Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants and household members of a professional handler. Exhibitors should open their dog s mouth for examination. If the judge finds it necessary to open the mouth they should disinfect their hands prior to examining other dogs. Male puppies without 2 fully descended testicles need not be disqualified or excused but the judge s book must describe the condition and Certificate of Merit points must be withheld. Dogs with breed standard disqualifications should not be excused but may not receive placements. However, dogs with age related disqualifications such as color (as related to age), height, teeth etc. are permitted to receive awards in the 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy classes. Dogs must be excused for attacking a person or other dogs. No dog is to be judged if it is brought into the ring bandaged, taped, glued or stitched anywhere including ears or tail. These dogs must be excused from judging but, at the judge s discretion, may return to be judged after the tape or bandage is removed. Dealing with Misconduct will be applicable to any person and dog entered at this competition. All applicable rules found in Rules Applying to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise. AKC National Owner-Handled Series SATURDAY, JUNE 9, 2018 & SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 2018 The purpose of the AKC National Owner Handled Series (NOHS) is to recognize and showcase the quality dogs being exhibited by owner/handlers and to provide a venue for the owner/handlers to compete against their peers. The determination of the awards in the AKC National Owner Handled Series is based solely on the quality of the entry. The owner/handler s handling ability is not of consideration. There is no additional fee to enter this competition. Entries must be marked as eligible to compete in the AKC NOHS prior to the closing of entries for that show. Dogs declared eligible must be identified by an asterisk or other representative mark in the judge s book, steward s book, and the show catalog. The Owner Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the eligible dogs that competed in the Best of Breed/Variety competition for the regular show. This includes Winners Dog, Winners Bitch, and the undefeated winners of the non regular classes. This excludes all dogs defeated during class and winners competition for the regular show. Judging for the AKC National Owner-Handled Series Best in Show may take place prior to or after regular Best in Show judging and the start time of the NOHS Groups must be published in the judging program. 6 Wheaton Kennel Club, Saturday, June 9 & Sunday, 10, 2018 PEE WEE Special Attraction Sunday, JUNE 10, 2018 The Special Attraction will be held at lunch time when ring becomes available. An announcement will be made. Entries are in person on Sunday Morning at the Show site (9:00 AM to 11:00 AM) Entry fee is $5.00 per dog. There is no limit on number of teams but they must be registered Sunday Morning to participate. All participants will receive ribbon and prize. REQUIREMENTS The Pee Wee Special Attraction is a pre-junior Showmanship Class. The Pee Wee Class is geared toward children 5 9 years. Each Pee Wee unit consists of the child, his/her parent/guardian/responsible adult, and the dog. Only one Pee Wee unit is in the ring at a time. This is not a competitive class, but rather a fun, learning experience for the child and the adult. A dog must be at least four months of age to enter the Pee Wee Class. Bitches in season will not be allowed to participate. If pre-entered, a dog may be substituted that meets the eligibility requirements as specified by the Club. All dogs entered must have the proper lead and collar. A responsible adult must be present with the child both inside and outside the ring. The adult is to maintain control of the dog outside of the ring. All AKC fully recognized and Miscellaneous Class Breeds are allowed to enter, including dogs with a PAL listing. All FSS Breeds not in the Miscellaneous Class and All-American Dogs are allowed to enter. In addition to an entry, a release must be signed by the child s parent or legal guardian. A judge requesting the use of a ramp must give reasonable notice to the Show Superintendent/Event Secretary prior to judging. AKC approval is not required. This policy extends to Junior Showmanship, the 4 6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition, the AKC National Owner Handled Series (NOHS), and all other special attractions that offer Group and BIS competitions. Emergencies In emergency situations, with the approval of the Show Chair, breeds customarily examined on the ground may be examined on a ramp, not on a table. An emergency is defined as a temporary condition that arose immediately prior to or at a dog show. Convalescence from a medical procedure, illness and recuperation from injuries are examples of conditions that are not emergencies. The emergency use of a ramp may be allowed on a day and may be extended to include a cluster as well as judging either a group and/or Best In Show. (In all but emergency situations, the exhibitor has no recourse. In an emergency situation, where use of a ramp is not indicated in the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund).
