2 Routes to the Show Site From the North (Hanover, PA): Take PA Rte. 94 South to state line - road becomes MD Rte. 30. Turn right on MD Rte. 27 in Manchester. Follow Rte. 27 to Rte. 140 East in Westminster. Turn left onto ramp to 140 East. At first traffic light turn right on Center Street. Turn right on Gist Road. Follow signs to entrance. From the South (Washington, DC): Take I-270 North to Rte. 27. Follow Rte. 27 to traffic light at Kate Wagner Road just south of Westminster. Turn right on Kate Wagner Road. In 1.2 miles, turn left on Gist Road. Continue on Gist Road past first stop sign. In about ½ block turn left at Agriculture Center entrance and follow signs. From the East (Baltimore): From I-695 take I-795 towards Westminster. Follow signs to Rte. 140 into Westminster. Turn left onto Center Street and continue as from the North. From the West (Frederick, MD): Take I-70 East to Rte. 27 (Exit 68) at Mount Airy. Follow Rte. 27 North to Kate Wagner Road and continue as from the South. Regulations for Exhibitors & Visitors Shipley Arena will be available for exhibitors setup on Tuesday after 3:00 P.M. Any exhibitor needing electrical power should bring an extension cord capable of extending 75 feet. Electricity is available in the grooming area of the Shipley Arena at no charge to exhibitors. Exhibitor vehicles not allowed in the building. No unloading at vestibule entrance. No dogs, crates, carts or exhibitor tables allowed in vestibule. Building will be open from 6:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. each day of shows. Site Control will supervise all grooming setups. The number of grooming tables may be limited. Site Control will have the final authority on the setup and usage of grooming space. All Exhibitors and Visitors shall respect the authority of Site Control, Event Officials and the Event Committee. Failure to do so may result in Event Committee Hearing and/or ejection from the show grounds. The Event Buildings and perimeters are designated as NON-SMOKING areas. Only those dogs entered in shows will be allowed in show building. There will be no strollers allowed - Dog or Human. Site Control has the right to remove unapproved placement of equipment and chairs. Crate stacking is mandatory. The use of soft sided crates will only be allowed when placed on top of another crate. Exhibitors and handlers will be responsible for clean conditions in and around their grooming area. Please do not leave property unattended. The Cluster Clubs cannot be responsible for missing items. Dogs may be left in the building overnight at owner's risk. Indoor Ex-Pens will be provided. There will be no private ex-pens indoors. All dogs MUST be kept under control at all times. We strongly suggest that Flexi-leads not be used in the grooming area or show building. There will be no discharge of any fluids onto the show grounds from any RVs whether fresh or waste. Disclaimer The Cluster Committee and Site Control will assume NO responsibility for any personal injury or death to any person, theft, damage or loss of personal property nor injury or death of any animal either at these events or on the show grounds at any time. Any visitor or exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior or whose equipment creates an impediment to the safe flow of traffic or movement, may at the discretion of the Cluster Committee and Site Control, be asked to leave the event site. In such cases, no refund of any fees paid will be made. 5 BREED CLASSIFICATION The class numbers in italic type are for an exhibitor computer entry-inquiry system. These numbers SHOULD NOT be used on entry forms. Regular Classes Puppy, & Under 9 Months Amateur-Owner-Handler Puppy, & Under 12 Months Bred by Exhibitor Dogs, & Under 18 Months American-Bred Novice Open Winners All Regular Classes are divided by sex and are offered for all breeds or varieties of breeds unless otherwise noted below. Where classes are further divided by color, weight, or other breed characteristics, it is so indicated below and the class division MUST be indicated on the entry form. Non-Regular Classes Involving Single Dog Entries NR Veteran Classes - Newfoundlands Saturday & Sunday Only - Class for dogs & class for bitches seven (7) years & under nine (9) years. Veteran Classes must meet all requirements to compete for Best of Breed. Master Class: This class will be for Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have 10 Best Junior wins with competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC National Championship. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year. Acknowledgement of entries will be made as soon as practicable with tickets and/or identification cards. An AKC Recording Fee of $3.50 will be required for each first entry and $3.00 each additional entry in any Licensed or Member Club Rally Trial. An AKC Event Service Fee of $2.00 per entry will be required for each dog entered at any Open Show. All Recording and Event Service Fees are paid to the American Kennel Club. No Entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Event Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of the grounds and/or facilities or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the event, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including, but not limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the event before completion, no refund of entry fee will be made. To find out about any AKC event cancellations call the AKC Event Cancellation Hotline (877) Post Dated Checks, Returned Checks and Declined Credit Cards do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Superintendent will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check or declined card. Subsequent returned checks or declined cards from the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. No Refund for Duplicate Entries. Every effort to find all duplicate entries will be made; however, if entry has been processed, no refund will be made. An Administrative Fee of $2.00 will be charged or withheld from refunds for duplicate entries. Each Owner and Agent listed on the entry form and/or individual responsible for the dog at a show is bound by the Certification and Agreement on the front and back of the entry form regardless of who may have completed & submitted the entry form. This information is also subject to publication in other media. Dogs May Arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Judges Will Not Wait for Any Dog Holding Up a Class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judged. All Dogs Present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercising ring. Class Cash Prizes will be paid in the ring to the person showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be made in the ring before the judging of that breed is over, and the Superintendent s Office advised at once. 20 A judge requesting the use of a ramp must give notice to the show superintendent/show secretary prior to judging. AKC approval is not required. The entire entry in a breed is to be examined in the same manner (ground, table, or ramp). At the discretion of the judge, the following breeds may be judged on the ground or on a ramp through all levels of competition including Group and Best in Show judging: Lagotti Romagnoli, American Water Spaniels, Clumber Spaniels, English Springer Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels, Cirnechi dell'etna, American Staffordshire Terriers, Irish Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Finnish Spitz, Keeshonden, Finnish Lapphunds, Norwegian Buhunds, Polish Lowland Sheepdogs, Spanish Water Dogs, and Norrbottenspets (Misc.). At the discretion of the judge through all levels of competition including Group and Best in Show judging, the following breeds may be judged on the ground, a ramp, or on a table: Boykin Spaniels and Whippets. The following breeds must be judged on a ramp through all levels of conformation competition: Sussex Spaniels, Basset Hounds, Bulldogs, Chinese Shar-Pei and Chow Chows. This extends to all conformation competition at AKC conformation dog shows and any AKC event where a conformation title may be earned. This policy includes Group, BIS, Junior Showmanship, the 4 6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition, the AKC National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS), and all other special attractions that offer Group and BIS competitions. Ramps can be used in emergency situations to judge any breed. In an emergency situation, where use of a ramp is not indicated in the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund. For the judging of juniors the ramp may be used at the discretion of the judge for the ramp optional breeds.
