1 2017 Trash & Recycling Calendar Quinton Township 885 Salem-Quinton Road, P.O. Box 65, Quinton, NJ A Clean Community Dear Residents, Your Township Committee would like to wish all Quinton residents a happy and healthy New Year. Following are some reminders and new information we want to share with you. Check newspapers for ads advising of changes in schedule or call , Ext. 2, periodically to verify the information herein. Reminder: All trash, bulk and recyclables must be placed by the curb prior to 6:00 AM on the designated pick-up days. All trash and bulk must be removed from curbside within 48 hours. Quinton Township will not pick up TV s, computers, etc. (see blue insert No. 1) Note: All house numbers must be visible day and night for 911. Bulk: is taken every week on the same day as regular trash pickup. Any metal items or items containing metal, is a special pickup. Call the Clerk s Office ( , Ext. 2) for pickup. Recyclables: are single streamed which means all recyclables will be put together in one container including aluminum, tin, glass, plastic, newspaper, magazines, junk mail, and cardboard. These items will be picked up in a regular trash truck and taken to a center to be separated. When putting recyclables in open containers, keep in mind that rainwater makes the container weigh more, so watch the weather when preparing these items for pick up.
2 Quinton Township Services The following services available to eligible residents: Senior Citizen Transportation to and from medical appointments. For transportation, call Office on Aging At , ext Flu Clinic (Call Township Clerk for information). Chipper services start the first Monday of April, May, June, week of September 4th and first Monday of October (see blue insert for details No. 4). Free Rabies Clinic will be February 4, 2017 at the Quinton Fire House from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. NO LICENSE WILL BE ISSUED UNLESS A VALID RABIES CERTIFICATE THROUGH NOVEMBER 2017 AND SPAY/NEUTER CERTIFICATE BE PRESENTED. Dog Licenses due Jan. of each year (1 year). Late fee of $20.00 per dog starts March 1, Animal Control Officer Ned Shimp (856) Call him for animal problems. Deer Removal- For all County roads, call Building Permits are mandatory. For information, call Construction Officer at Quinton Day For date and time call , Ext. 2s Hazardous Waste Day is April 15 and October 21, 2017 at 52 McKillip Road, Alloway from 8am to 12 Noon and June 17, 2017 at Industrial Park Road, Pennsville and August 19, 2017 at Upper Pittsgrove Convenience Center, 190 Groff Road, same times 8am to 12 Noon. Veterans, Senior Citizens & Disabled Contact Tax Collector to see if you may be eligible for deductions. Halloween Trick or Treat hours for October 31, 2017 is 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Christmas Tree Lighting For date and time call , Ext. 2. Bookmobile will be at the Quinton Municipal Building on Mondays from 9 to 10 AM and Green Valley Park on Tuesdays 1 to 1:30 PM. 3 Quinton Township Services Reorganization Meeting will be held on January 3, 2017 at 7:00 PM. Meetings of the Township Committee are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Sewer Meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of May and December at 7:00 PM. Planning Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. For appointment call the Planning Board Secretary, Bonnie Bell, at or Mail may be directed to P.O. Box 227, Quinton, NJ Recreation Commission meets as needed. Environmental Commission meets as needed. Township Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics hours are Monday through Thursday (9:30 AM to 1:00 PM) or call , Ext. 2 Finance Office hours are Monday and Wednesday (9:30 AM to 12:00 PM). Call , Ext. 4. Tax and Sewer Collector hours are Tuesday (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Wednesday (3:30 PM to 5:30 PM Call or , Ext. 3. Zoning Office hours Wednesday (4:30 PM to 6:30 PM). Call Construction Office hours Wednesday (4:00 PM to 5:30 PM). Call Housing Officer: Hours are Wednesdays, 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Call for Appointment Tax Assessor hours are second and fourth Thursdays of the month (5:00 PM to 7:00 PM). You may also complete and mail in the license application (included with this calendar) and appropriate license fee together with a copy of Rabies Certification for licenses which is valid through November Please note that late fees start March 1, License application can also be put in green box in Municipal Building parking lot.
4 QUINTON TOWNSHIP 2016 TRASH & RECYCLING REGULATIONS Please note the following when preparing your trash & recyclables for pick up: When putting recyclables in open containers, keep in mind that rainwater will make the containers weigh more, so watch the weather when preparing these items for pick up January 1 New Year s Day September 4 Labor Day May 29 Memorial Day November 23 Thanksgiving July 4 Independence Day December 25 Christmas Day Trash/Bulk Thursday is South Side and Friday is North Side The North side of Quinton is the left side going towards Bridgeton The South side of Quinton is the right side going towards Bridgeton Per Township ordinance, it is illegal to permit anyone to remove any recyclable materials from curbside. County Hazardous Collection Days are April 15 and October 21, 2017, 8am to 12 Noon at the Solid Waste Division, 52 McKillip Road, Alloway Twp., June 17, 2017, at the end of Industrial Park Road, Pennsville, NJ, 8am to 12 Noon and August 19, 2017 at Upper Pittsgrove Convenience Center, 190 Groff Road from 8am to 12 Noon. Also, we have 2 paper document shredding events at the Solid Waste Division behind the office at 52 McKillip Road on Saturday, March 18, 2017 and November 18, 2017, 9AM to 12 Noon. Limit is 3 standard boxes per person (not car). The box size is a standard box that paper comes in. Also, shredded paper can be placed in plastic or paper bags using a standard box size for measurement. Call , ext. 2 or questions. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU DO NOT RECYCLE, YOU MAY BE FINED UP TO $1, Recyclables are single streamed (all recyclables will be put together in one container, that includes aluminum, tin, glass, plastic #1 and #2, newspaper, magazines, junk mail and cardboard). These items will be picked up in a regular trash truck and taken to a center to be separated. SPECIALTY ITEMS 1. ALL TV s, COMPUTERS, MONITORS, VCR s, PINTERS, COPY MACHINES, SCANNERS, and DVD PLAYERS, MUST be taken to the Salem County Convenience Center as they will no longer be received at the Township Garage. Quinton residents may take any electronics to the Salem County Convenience Center for free on Wednesday and Saturday from 8am until 3pm. Please make sure the equipment is not broken into parts and the cord is not cut. NOTE: Automobile parts etc. are not picked up in Quinton Township. Also, no Bamboo of any kind will be picked up. 2. BULK CAN BE PUT OUT ON YOUR REGULAR TRASH DAY RESIDENTS ONLY NEED TO CALL FOR WHITE GOODS , ext.2: Examples of bulk trash: rugs and furniture. White goods are by appointment only, examples are stoves, refrigerators, washer, dryers, freezers, air conditioners, microwaves and anything with a lot of metal. No autos, auto parts, lawn mowers, junk farm machinery or anything hazardous. All items other than furniture must not be more than 4 ft. in length. Items not picked up must be removed from curbside within 48 hrs. and placed out on the next scheduled trash and bulk day for the north or south side. If you are moving, all bulk trash must be gone before you move. You may wish to call and inquire, if in doubt, as to why an item was not picked up. Put out BEFORE 6 AM on Thursday or Friday of your Trash and Bulk day. 3. SALEM COUNTY CONVENIENCE CENTER, 52 Mckillip Road & 540, Alloway Twp., , Salem County residents only, with driver s license and ID, are eligible to deposit trash on Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and there is a charge for everything for disposal and recycling except TV s and Computer/Electronic equipment. Trash must be covered. Tarps available free at the Municipal Building. Residents can call the Convenience Center at for fees. Payment may be by cash or check. Leaves and grass clippings, latex, water based paint, explosives, shock sensitive chemicals,
5 may not be taken there. 4. CHIPPER: starts on the first Monday of April, May, June, October and week of September 4 th. Please have branches out before 7:00 am. The Township provides a chipper for residents but only for the house and 1 acre around it. They will remove only branches on these lots. These should be no longer than five (5) feet long and no larger than four (4) inches in diameter. Also, they will only take 2 piles 4x4x6ft. long for each residence. Once the chipper goes by it does not come back. Please place limbs butt end toward the road in a neat pile and do not include any vines, roots, etc. No need to call. When a holiday falls on a Monday, Labor Day, etc., chipping will begin on the next business day. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS OR RAKED YARD DEBRI WILL BE PICKED UP. FOR SEVERE TRIMMING AND TREE REMOVAL IT MUST BE CONTRACTED BY OWNER AND REMOVAL AT OWNER S EXPENSE AND NOT QUINTON TOWNSHIP. 5. LEAVES: Leaf pickup after Thanksgiving 2017 (weather permitting). This is provided only in those areas with storm drains. Listed as Elk Terrace, all streets, Quinton Village Streets: New, Sickler from Rt. 49 to New, Smithfield, Robinson, Main from Rt.581 to School Entrance, High; Quinton Village Aves: Lake, East, and Cottage 9/10 mile down Quinton-Alloway Rd. from Rt. 49. No leaf pickup after December 1, 2017 so trucks can be readied for snow. South Jersey Agricultural Products will accept leaves and brush at the recycling yard in Elmer. Cost for disposal will be $4 per yard for leaves and $2 per yard for brush. The yard is located at 395 Rt. 77 ¼ mile south of Pole Tavern Circle, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Office, Cell. 6. CHRISTMAS TREES: Each January, Quinton Township Road Department will accept Christmas trees devoid of decoration at the road department garage on New Street. 7. DOG LICENSES: On Saturday, February 4, 2017, the Township will hold the free rabies clinic for dogs and cats at the Quinton Firehouse from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Quinton residents may purchase their dog license at that time. The cost for a 1 year license is $15.00 for spayed/neutered dog and $18.00 for nonspayed/neutered dog. A 3 year license is available if your rabies shot expires at the same time or after as the license expires. A 3 year license fee is $45.00 for spayed/neutered dog and $54.00 nonspayed/neutered dog. Licenses may be purchased by mail or at the Municipal Building from 9:30 am to1:00 pm, Monday thru Thursday. No license shall be granted unless a valid rabies certificate through November 2017 and proof of spay/neutered is presented. Late fees of $20.00 for each dog start March 1, SYRINGES: Break off needle and place entire contents (syringe and needle) in plastic container and dispose in regular trash. 9. EMPTY PAINT CANS: Water based paints, up to five (5) cans, may be disposed of in regular trash (remove lids and let dry hard). Over five (5) cans call for bulk pick up. Oil base paint, if empty, may go in regular trash. If not, then must be disposed of at Solid Waste Facility County Hazardous Collection Day. 10. BUILDING MATERIALS: There is no pickup for building materials or reconstruction materials in Quinton Township. Residents or contractors are responsible for the disposal of such materials 11. AGRICULTURAL PESTICIDES: Will not be picked up. Take to landfill on Hazardous Waste Day. 12. SALEM COUNTY BOOKMOBILE: Schedule for Quinton Municipal Building for 2017 will be on the following dates: January 9 & 23, February 13 & 27, March 13 & 27, April 10 & 24, May 8 & 22, June 12 & 26, July 10 & 24, August 14 & 28, September 11 & 25, October 9 & 23, November 13 & 27 and December 4 & 11, from 9 10AM.
