Test Carefully read the text below, consisting of lines. When a hurricane strikes, there is little anyone can do. This is especially so in countries where people were unprepared for the disaster. When a hurricane struck the town of Torrents in South America, it left behind more than its usual share of death or destruction. Although hurricanes hit the town annually, no one expected it to hit twice that year. Thousands lost their lives and almost the entire town was destroyed. It took an agonized three days for rescue workers to enter a small town along the outskirts of the country. Those who were clinging on to any hope in survival were giving up for they could only watch helplessly as the growing amount in mud around them threatened to envelop them like quicksand. After the destructive winds came the worse floods the town had ever experienced. No one was spared from the brutal force of the waters. Test
Test Carefully read the text below, consisting of lines. Are we the only ones living in this universe? This is one question on many minds. Although efforts are supposedly being made to send signals for other stars in the universe, getting a reply remains highly doubtful. One reason with this is the long distance between earth and the closest star. It was calculated that it would take a two-hundred-year time frame with signals from earth to reach the star and similarly, to receive a signal from the star. Another reason is our lack of knowledge; we had little information on other stars. Are they technologically backwards compared with us? Were they able to understand our signals? For now, scientists can only anticipate and continue to listen in for unfamiliar signals. We may not be the only curious creature though. Unknown civilizations out there could be listening in to our radio and television signals. We may never know. Test
Test Carefully read the text below, consisting of lines. Sandy had been lying on the sand with her dog, Sam, for the past three hours. The air is very still and nothing around them moved. Even the leaves looked as lifeless as Sandy or her pet dog. There was a snake coiled up a distance to them. It had been looking warily at Sandy ever since she stumbled upon it. She barely manage to pull Sam away, inches from where its venom tongue was. The snake glided towards the base of a tree and continued staring at them. Sit! The command had been uttered many times to Sam who looked just as warily as the snake. It was a while before he finally turned towards Sandy. He stared at her, the way he always did while he was feeling defiant. He finally listened. He took a few steps towards her, then changed his mind and stretched off a short distance away from her to keep an eye on the snake. Test
Test Carefully read the text below, consisting of lines. Kristen lived with her parents, five sisters and three brothers on a farm off Grange Lane. Her father, a barrister, was hardly home except on Sundays when he will take the family to church. She liked the way her family was then loving and close. If only they were this close an entire week. The week always went on in a flash as she and her sisters rushed to school, complete assignments, helped out at home and kneaded dough in their mother s bakery. There was never a moment rest. But on Sundays, everything was different. There were fewer activities or sometimes, no other plans beside going to church. There was time to stroll in the park and go for long meals at fancy restaurants. Conversations between the eleven family members lasted longer than a couple of hurrying words. After Sunday came Monday, but Kristen did not like to think about that at all. Test
Test Carefully read the text below, consisting of lines. The monsoon season had always been dangerous and unpredictable. As the period of heavy rains approached, the people went about their routines, storing up provisions and repair leaking roofs. Near the river bank, an old man seemed unconcerned about the impending rainy season. He was staying along a low-lying plains of the river and would be the first to be affected by the rains. He continued tilling the ground or feeding the few chickens that he has. No one noticed the old entrance on the ground behind his house. It leads to a shelter twenty metres underground. Crafted from the stronger metal, it could withstand the heaviest rains. The rains came and went. When the old man emerged in his secret shelter a month later, the whole place was deserted and on disarray. The old man did not mind. Soon, his neighbours would return. Test
Test where people are unprepared of death and destruction expected them to hit took an agonizing enter the small town hope of survival growing amount of the worst floods Test send signals to for this is time frame for signals we have little compared to us Are they able to listen out for curious creatures though.
