DIRECTIONS Dog Training Club of Dallas County The Lucile Tufte Memorial Training Center 604 Crestside, Duncanville, TX Directions to Show Site: Details below ** From the North Go South on I-35E through downtown Dallas. Stay right when it splits at Hwy 67 in Oak Cliff, so that you are going South on Hwy. 67. Pass I-20 and exit at Cockrell Hill Road (near Jack in the Box). Continue South on the service road. Turn right on Alexander, then right on Crestside. From the South Proceed North on Hwy. 67 to Cockrell Hill Road. Exit Cockrell Hill Road and turn left back over the highway. Turn left again so that you are on the South-bound service road. Turn right on Alexander, then right on Crestside. From the East or West Take I-20 from the East or West to Hwy. 67 in Duncanville. Go South on Hwy. 67. Cockrell Hill Road will be the first exit. Exit Cockrell Hill Road and continue South on the service road. Turn right on Alexander, and right on Crestside. **From the South-Bound Service Road Turn right on the second street which is Alexander. There are only two streets that turn to the right. Pass the first one and then GO VERY SLOWLY. The second turn is at the end of a small strip shopping center. (There are some small trees which make it hard to see the street until you are upon it.) Turn right on Alexander and STAY RIGHT when it splits. (It curves to the right.) At the split, the street to the right will be Crestside. The dog club has a tall chain link fence. It is white cement block with black paw prints painted on the single story building set back on the lot. Map found at: HOTEL THAT ACCEPTS SMALL DOGS Please be good guests at this hotel. Clean up after your dogs, cover hotel bedding & furniture, put plastic under your crates, don t leave barking dogs in the room, etc. The Dallas Fort Worth Dachshund Club reserves the right to have event committee jurisdiction over the hotel listed. RV OVERNIGHT CAMPING Cedar Hill State Park 1570 W Fm 1382 Cedar Hill, TX (512) for reservations The parking lot at the dog training club is not large and there is a chain link double gate at the front entrance. It may be difficult to park several RVs in this lot during the day. We might be able to make arrangements for parking at neighboring businesses. There is no overnight RV PARKING on the show grounds. 4 ATTENTION EXHIBITORS The show site will be available to exhibitors one hour prior to the scheduled judging start time (refer to the Judging Schedule when it is published after closing). The show committee will have access as needed. All dogs must be removed from the show site by one hour after the end of the trial each day. The building will NOT be available on Friday. This is a small building that only has ONE RING. There is limited seating & crating area. If your dogs tend to bark in their crates, please bring something to cover them. The Show Committee reserves the right to ask exhibitors to move their dogs if they are distracting to the dogs and exhibitors in the ring. Please plan to stack your crates. NO DOGS LEFT IN THE BUILDING OVERNIGHT. Do NOT bring oversized chairs or large reclining lawn chairs. The building has metal chairs available. Exhibitors must have rubber or plastic protectors on the bottom legs of any metal-legged chairs and protection under metal crates. Potty area is in back of the building. PLEASE be sure to clean up after yourselves and your dogs! There are trash cans & scoopers available. No ex-pens allowed inside the building. IMPORTANT NOTICE ALL DOGS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A CERTIFICATE & TAGS SHOWING PROOF OF RABIES VACCINATION. Neither the Dallas-Fort Worth Dachshund Club or The Dog Training Club of Dallas County, will be responsible for the loss of or damage to any dog exhibited, or for possessions of any exhibitor, whether the result of an accident or any other cause. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this show is in the care and custody of its owner or handler during the entire time the dog is in the show building or on the grounds. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The welfare of an exhibitor s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the exhibitor. There will be no smoking in the show building. There is a smoking area outside the building away from the main entrance. Exercise pens are allowed on the parking lot. There is some grass, but not much in the parking areas. The club reserves the right to ask exhibitors to move pens to accommodate more parking spaces. Fort Worth Stockyards: Doggies are welcome throughout, including on the tours and at the cattle drives. You can also eat on Love Shack s patio and shop at M.L. Leddy s Main Street and Exchange Avenue, Fort Worth, fortworthstockyards.org Bishop Arts District (info subject to change): This little enclave in Oak Cliff is as dog-friendly as it is charming. After a leisurely meal your options include Eno s Pizza Tavern, Gloria s, Oddfellows (has a dachshund for a front door handle), Whitehall Exchange, Chan Thai, 303 Bar & Grill, Espumoso Caffé and Bolsa check out the stores, many of which allow four-legged shoppers, too. You ll find great gifts at Artisan s Collective, Fêteish, Pebble + Pine, We Are 1976, Neighborhood Design Bar and Shambhala Body Gallery, flowers at Dirt and things to wear at Epiphany (both the men s and women s stores), Zola s Everyday Vintage, Strut and the Laughing Willow. And make sure you stop by Green Pet, which is teeming with goodies that are good for you. We also love that the shops stay open late on weekends and for special events, such as their 1st Thursdays. Take the FM1382 exit, turn right near the end of the exit ramp at the tall sign for the shopping area. It is not posted on the website that dogs are not allowed, just check ahead with the contact information provided in the links. In all cases, dogs will probably have to be on a leash in any of these areas. Watch for wildlife & snakes. MAKE OUR SHOW A DESTINATION WEEKEND AND STAY FOR AN EXTENDED VISIT! NORTH TEXAS HAS A LOT TO OFFER. COME SEE US SUMMER PICNIC THEME This year we will have a photo op area set up outside for exhibitors to take photos of their dogs. The theme will be a Summer Picnic. ENTRY FEES FOR EACH TRIAL OBEDIENCE (If applicable, please include jump height) (Price includes a $0.50 AKC Recording Fee on first entries and a $3.00 AKC Event Service Fee on all entries) First Entry of each dog in each trial (except in Non-Regular Classes)...$25.00 Additional Entry of same dog in same trial...$20.00 Non-Regular Obedience Classes in each trial.....$20.00 * RALLY ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE DOG S JUMP HEIGHT * RALLY ENTRY FEES (including $3.50 for 1 st entry and $3.00 for 2 nd entry AKC recording fee) First entry of each dog in each trial...$25.00 Additional Entry of same dog in same trial...$20.00 Remember that each trial is a separate event (six events). A refund will be issued for females that come in season. You must notify the trial secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the event. (per Chapter 1, Section 14) ENTRY FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the judge, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the Club, it is impossible to open or complete the Show, no refund of entry fees will be made. NON-REGULAR OBEDIENCE CLASSES Brace: Dogs need not be owned by the same person, but will be handled by one handler. Dogs may be shown unattached or coupled. Exercises will be as in the Novice class. Veterans: For dogs that have an obedience title and are at least seven years old on the date of the trial. Exercises will be as in the Novice class. RALLY CLASSES FOR ALL THREE SHOWS Rally entries must include dog s jump height if applicable. 7 AKC Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines are available on the American Kennel Club Web site, AGREEMENT I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for a show closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any show for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name.
