4 Regional plan Defense predation by canids Benefits Parameters: Three-years duration: Regional Financing: ,00 /year Financed farms: about 250 The Plan provided for a flat-rate annual aid (up to 2,500) under "de minimis" - assembly of electrified fences for night rescue - presence of guard dogs - continuous attendance of a guardian - size of the flock/herd This aid from 2016 has been transferred to PSR with Operation
5 PSR 2014/2020 Measure 10 "Environmental agro-climate payments" Operation: "Defense livestock from predation by canids on the hilly and mountain pastures"
6 Purposes - helping the breeders to live with predators; - to avoid prejudicial behaviors with predators; - to avoid the progressive abandonment of pastures, in particular the most impervious and isolated ones, with no structures for night rescue
7 Beneficiaries Individual and associated breeders of cattle, sheep, goat, equine who make commitments and prescriptions for 5 years
8 Commitments (for 5 years) 1- Join operation "ecosustainable management of pastures" 2- Mounting electrified fences 3- Use of guard dogs 4- Continuous custody
9 1. Join operation "eco-sustainable management of pastures" Commitments: - livestock load as a function of altitude zone: Hill: 0,5-1 UBA/ha/year; Mountain: 0,2-0,5 UBA/ha/year - Grazing turn - Grazing period: in mountain area at least 80 days
10 1. Join operation "eco-sustainable management of pastures" - Mechanical removal of weeds - Provide to establish or maintain points of water and salt efficiency - Prohibition of mineral fertilization - Maintenance of grazing surface - Mowing pasture is prohibited Award: 110 per hectare
11 2. Mounting electrified fences: - Transport and installation of poles and specific electrified fences - Moving the fences between grazing areas every 10 days
12 3. Use of guard dogs: presence in ratio of 1 to 100 animals, with a minimum of 2 dogs for herd or flock 4. Continuous custody: continuous presence in pasture of the breeder, of one of his family members or of his employee
13 Type of support: Annual contribution of 50 per hectare of pasture The award covers additional work costs resulting from the commitments taken for transportation, assembly, periodic shift of the electrified fences for the night rescue, the continuing presence of the breeder.
