3 INTRODUCING OUR JUDGES Anne Macdonald: Brought up with dogs and began showing as a teenager with a Pembroke Corgi from her mother's first litter. In the early 70s started breeding and exhibiting Salukis under the Mabrooka kennel name, won over 100 CCs and owned/bred 13 Champions in this breed including the Bitch CC record holder and the winner of the Hound Group at Crufts 2002 who was the top wining Hound of Bred her final litter in 1999 and retired from exhibiting in She started judging in 1964 and first awarded CCs to Salukis in 1981 followed shortly by Pembroke Corgis. Judged the Hound Group at Crufts in 2009 and is currently approved to award CCs in 30 breeds in addition to BIS at General Championship Shows. Overseas judging includes USA in California, New York and Florida. Has also judged at Championship Shows in Australia and in 11 European Countries. Jean Turnbull: I have been involved with dogs since the late 60s starting with Border Collies and German Shepherds working in Obedience. I got my first pedigree dog in the late 70s and the show bug hit. I have had Belgian Shepherd Dog since then and 10 years ago I went into partnership with an Australian Shepherd who was to become our first Champion (also the first in this country with a tail). I now own 5 Aussies, 2 of which I have bred and one imported from Holland and of course the obligatory Belgian Shepherd Dog. I have awarded CCs in Belgian Shepherd Dogs four times now and I am on the 'B' list for Australian Shepherds. I still have an interest in Border Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs. Jill Holgate: I have been involved with dogs all my life and began showing Irish Setters in the early 1970s. In 1981 I obtained my first Field Spaniel and have over the years taken a keen interest in all aspects of the Gundog breeds. Attended and passed numerous breed seminars in various Gundog breeds and Dachshunds. I have shown, bred and made up 18 Field Spaniel Show Champions under our Nadavin Affix, including the current breed record holder. I began judging in 1985 and awarded CCs in Fields for the first time in 1993 including Crufts Currently awarding CCs in both Field Spaniels and Sussex Spaniels. To date I have judged both Hound and Gundog Groups and Best in Show at Open Show level. Margaret Armstrong: Border Terriers have always been part of my life as my mum kept them as pets on the family farm. After my marriage in 1971, my husband gave me a Border Terrier puppy, purchased from well known Working Terrier Stalwart John Dixon from Redesdale, for my first Christmas present. After losing Sally at 15 years of age I then purchased Cindy, who I had until 9 years of age. As my family were now grown up I purchased a new puppy, again from John Dixon in 1995 and started showing and after attending a few shows I was bitten by the bug. I became a member of the Border Terrier Club, Scottish Border Terrier Club and Northern Border Terrier Club of which I am a Committee member. I have bred seven litters and have the Stud Book Numbers and was granted my affix in My first judging appointment was in I thank Whitehaven and District Canine Association for honouring me with this judging appointment and look forward this with pleasure.

Classes for handling are decided by the handler s age. The classes are divided into three age groups: 6-11 years (6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday); years (12 years and up to, but not including 18th birthday); years (18 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please enter the class age category you will be on the day of the qualifier. If you should move into the next age range after you have already qualified, the YKC will invite you into the correct age group at Crufts. The method for Crufts qualification is a points based system as follows: 1st Place = 30 points; 2nd Place = 15 points; 3rd Place = 10 points. Members will receive points per group (i.e. if they handle a Bloodhound, they will get points towards the Hound group). If a member gets 30 points in any one group, they will qualify to enter a dog from that group at Crufts If a member gains 30 or more points in multiple groups, they may only compete with one dog at Crufts, but they will have the option to choose from any of the groups they have 30 or more points in. All points are reset to 0 on 1st January each year. In order to enter any YKC competition, you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited. Before competing, please view a full list of the YKC competition rules at: and follow the compete tab.

Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 17. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show. 18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 19. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 20. 11 of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. Adequate receptacles for the disposal of such fouling will be provided. 21. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches.
