3 Our Specialty Judge, Brenton Wright Anahim Drive, Richmond, BC V7A 2C5 I exhibited a Boxer at my first show in 1963 when I was a youngster. In 1966, competing in Junior Handling, I became the top Senior Boy Handler in BC. While in high school I purchased a Bedlington Terrier from the U.S. and completed his Canadian and American championships as an owner-handler. I had some success as a breeder of Bedlingtons. Only 2 Canadian bred Bedlington Terriers have won an all breed BIS in the US and I am fortunate to be the breeder of both of them. I also owner-handled a BIS winning black Doberman bitch. While in California my parents purchased a very typey domino Afghan Hound bitch. This was a breed that I had admired for quite some time as I loved their exotic expression. My parents allowed me to lease this bitch and she was bred to a topproducing stud. I kept two blonde bitches from the litter and they both finished their championships easily. Presently I am a Director of the Canadian Dog Judges Association. I have been judging since 1992, and, besides Canada, I have judged in the US, Mexico and Australia. Dogs have been a passion all of my life. Our Sweepstake Judge, Dianna Kass 3805 Brown Road, Ferndale, Washington My love for salukis started many years ago, and there has always been a saluki living with my husband and me over the years. Helen Bretell came to stay at our house for a weekend while attending a dog show in Canada. She brought with her the most beautiful creature, Bel S mbran JR Juvenoir, Julie, she was so regal and breath taking. I had never remembered seeing one before. I was totally in awe and fell in love with her and the breed. My husband and I had borzoi at the time. We had the great privilege of having Bel S'mbran J R, who was a top winning saluki in Canada with 39 BIS and achieved being the number 2 dog one year, come and live his last year with us. We acquired our first saluki puppy, a grandson to JR, Thunder Mtn Pachanga Tamazar. To my absolute delight we had the chance to acquire Julie's sister Bel S mbran JR Alexis and Bel S'mbran Mata Aida who was a granddaughter to Julie. A small world when you acquire a sister and granddaughter to the most exquisite saluki you had ever seen. In 2007 we were blessed to have another saluki puppy come to us, Braemoor Thunder Mtn Kool Jazz, his dam was Shahtani Tropical Breeze, Lilly, top winning saluki in the US for 2005 and 2006 and won 3 group placements at the Westminster Kennel Club, the Gardens. We bred Lilly and produced group winning progeny in Canada and the US. Our latest saluki to come to us, Paris, now is almost two, he is my companion dog. Watching salukis run is a total enjoyment for me, they are free spirits and they are regal in their mannerisms, they give you the privilege of sharing your life with them, they own your soul. ENTRY FEES (All Entry Fees Include GST) First Entry - All Classes (per dog, per show).... $30.00 Second & Subsequent Dogs Entered (Same Owner/Co-Owner) (per dog).. $25.00 Junior Puppies (6 months to under 9 months $23.00 Exhibition Only $12.00 All dogs must be entered in a regular class, veterans class, specials, or for exhibition only to compete in the following non-regular classes: Brace Class (two dogs, same breed, per brace) $12.00 Stud Dog & Get, Brood Bitch & Progeny. $12.00 Sweepstakes (Juvenile & Veteran).. $12.00 Listing Fee (including GST) $10.50 Catalogue(pre-ordered).. $ 5.00 A limited number of catalogues will be available on the day of the shows at a cost of $10.00 each. A listing fee must accompany EACH ENTRY for EACH SHOW and be paid for EACH DOG that does not possess an individual registration number or, if foreign born & owned, an Event Registration Number (ERN) with the Canadian Kennel Club. This fee is $10.50 incl. GST & PST. Note: There will be no refunds for duplicate entries or overpayment of fees. It is the owner of the dog entered that is responsible for any error in entering his/her dog regardless of how or by whom the entry was made. Please review confirmations so corrections may be made prior to closing date to avoid disappointment.

4 Non-member Participation Fee a) An annual non-member participation fee for awards and titles will be charged to a non-member of the CKC. The fee will match the ERN fee. b) In order to protect the awards/titles earned, the non-member will have a choice either to become a CKC member or to pay the non-member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will cause all awards and titles to be cancelled. c) These fees apply only to dogs wholly owned by non-ckc members and are not applicable to CKC members. Please note it takes about 10 days to get a letter from the US to Canada. ALL Entries MUST be received by closing date: WEDNESDAY, March 28 th, 9:00pm P a c i f i c T i m e ************************************ The tendering of NSF cheque shall be considered non-payment of entry fees and is punishable by returned cheque. Exhibitors whose charges are declined by the Bank Card Authorization Department will be assessed a service charge of $25.00 for each transaction declined. Telephone entries are not accepted by the Show Secretary. Incomplete entries or entries received without fees, or entries received after the advertised closing date will not be accepted. Attention foreign exhibitors, please note that fees are due and payable in Canadian dollars. Due to consistently fluctuating currency rates discounted cheques will not be accepted. Personal cheques will be accepted, however, they are to be payable in Canadian Funds. If you sent a cheque in US funds, it must be made out for the full amount of the entry and no exchange will be refunded to the exhibitor. Please DO NOT make cheques Payable in Canadian Funds or At Par. They will not be cleared by the banks. To simplify the process, we urge that you purchase bank drafts or money orders payable in Canadian Funds.

5 CONFORMATION CLASSIFICATIONS The following Regular CKC Classes (divided by sex) will be offered: Junior Puppy 6 months and under 9 months on the day of the show. Senior Puppy 9 months and under 12 months on the day of the show Months 12 months and under 18 months on the day of the show. Canadian Bred For dogs born in Canada, champions in any country excluded. Bred by Exhibitor For dogs owned and handled in the ring by the Breeder. Open All dogs Veterans Specials Only For all dogs 7 years of age or over on the day of the show. Dogs entered in this class DO NOT COMPETE FOR POINTS but rather the winner of the Veteran Male and Veteran Female class goes on to the Best of Breed competition. (Spayed or neutered dogs may compete in this class). Dogs of either sex individually registered with the CKC, possessing an ERN number, who have earned all points required for the Championship status at the time of the close of entries. Entry of a listed dog is not permitted in Specials Only. (The request to move a class dog to Specials Only must be made at least one hour prior to the start of the show). Exhibition Only All dogs entered in this class will be listed in the catalogue with the same particulars as dogs entered in regular competition. Dogs entered in this class may not compete in any Regular class but may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or Parades ONLY. THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL NON-REGULAR CKC CLASSES WILL BE OFFERED BY PACIFIC SALUKI CLUB OF BC: Any dog entered in a non-regular class must also be entered in a regular class or for Exhibition Only, except for Get and Progeny which MUST be entered in a Regular Class. Spayed/neutered dogs may be entered but must also be entered in a regular class (as specified in the Dog Show Rules) or for Exhibition Only. Brace For two dogs of the same breed, handled by one person on one lead. Stud Dog & Get Comprised of the stud dog and 2 or more of his get. Ownership need not be identical. The stud dog may be spayed/neutered and must be entred in a Regular class or in Exhibition Only. Get must be entered in a Regular class. Brood Bitch & Progeny Same requirements as Stud Dog.

6 Pacific Saluki Club of BC will offer awards for Best Canadian Bred in Specialty, Best Bred By Exhibitor in Specialty and Best Veteran in Specialty As the rules for these awards are at the discretion of the Club, it has specified how the awards will be given at this show. Dogs eligible for the Canadian Bred in Specialty award will be identified by way of their country of birth as shown on the entry form. Dogs eligible for the Veteran in Specialty award will be identified by way of their date of birth as shown on the entry form. For those wishing to compete for the Bred By Exhibitor in Specialty award, you must identify on the entry form whether the dog will be eligible to compete based on these rules. Dogs entered in these classes must also be entered in one of the regular classes in the show. The rules for these three awards are listed below. General Rules that apply to all of the above awards: Should the Best in Specialty winner be Canadian Bred, Bred by the Exhibitor, or a Veteran, that dog shall automatically be awarded the ribbon. The dog awarded Best of Opposite Sex is considered to have defeated all dogs entered of that sex. If the dog awarded Best in Specialty is not Canadian Bred, Bred by Exhibitor or a Veteran, then all other Canadian Bred, Bred by Exhibitor or Veteran dogs entered as Specials, including the Veteran Male and Veteran Female are eligible to compete. The dog awarded Best of Winners is considered to have defeated all class dogs. If either the Winners Male or Winners Female is Canadian Bred, Bred by Exhibitor or a Veteran, they shall be deemed to have defeated all other Canadian Bred, Bred by Exhibitor or Veteran Class dogs. If either or both of these dogs are not Canadian Bred, Bred By Exhibitor, or a Veteran dog, then all Canadian Bred, Bred by Exhibitor or Veteran dogs winning First in Class are eligible to compete. If any First Place Class winner is not Canadian Bred, Bred by Exhibitor or a Veteran, then the Second Place, Third Place, or Fourth Place dog will be eligible, based on their qualification. On completion of the awarding of Best in Specialty, all eligible dogs for the Canadian Bred, Bred by Exhibitor or Veteran Award will return to the ring to be judged. Eligibility to compete in Canadian Bred in Specialty - the dog must have been bred in Canada. Eligibility to compete in Bred By Exhibitor in Specialty Only dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder for all competition are eligible for this award. Exhibitors are required to mark the entry form as to whether their dog(s) will be eligible to compete for this award if offered by the Club. Eligibility to compete for Veteran in Specialty the dog must be at least seven (7) years of age on the date of the show as identified by the date of birth shown on the entry form. Sweepstakes prior to Conformation Classes Judge: Dianna Kass Eligibility: Juvenile Sweepstakes 1. All Saluki puppies, 6 months of age but under 18 months of age on the day of the show, shall be eligible to compete, regardless of place of birth. Altered dogs may not compete. 2. All dogs entered must also be entered in one of the official breed classes in the Specialty. 3. Professional handlers are permitted to handle ONLY dogs which they have bred or co-bred, own or co-own. Classification: For the purpose of judging, the dogs will be divided by sex into the following classes: 6 months and under 9 months 9 months and under 12 months 12 months and under 18 months For final judging the First Place dog from each class above will be brought together for the final placings of Best in Sweepstake and Runner-Up in Sweepstake. Eligibility: Veterans Sweepstake This competition is open to all Salukis age 7 years of age and older. All dogs must be entered in one of the regular Breed classes or for Exhibition Only. Spayed or neutered dogs may compete provided they are also entered in the official Veterans class, or for Exhibition Only. Classification: The Sweepstake Classes are divided by sex and offered as follows: 7 years of age and under 10 years of age 10 years of age and under years of age and over For final judging the First Place dog from each class above will be brought together for the final placing of Best in Veterans Sweepstake and Runner-Up in Veterans Sweepstake. Prize List: For both Sweepstakes, there will be a rosette for First place in each class, and flat ribbons for 2nd through 4th. Best in Sweepstake, and Best in Veterans Sweepstake will receive a Rosette and 50% of the entry. Runner-Up in Sweepstake and Runner-Up in Veterans Sweepstake will receive a Rosette and 25% of the entry. The Club will retain 25% of the entry fees for expenses.

7 CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB SCHEDULE OF CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SECTION 1. A dog awarded WINNERS at a Championship show shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5), and the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as provided hereunder SECTION 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: (*Includes the dog awarded Winners.) Dogs Competing* to 5 6 to 9 10 to or more Points Allocated* To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule set forth above. A dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Further section {C} has been added and states the dog must: have earned at least one 2 point win either at the breed level or group level. The system provides for additional points if a dog awarded winners also places in the Group as listed here under. In no case may a dog earn more than five (5) points at a single show. To earn a Canadian Championship, a dog must earn at least ten championship points under at least three different judges; and be individually registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, or have a CKC Event Registration Number (ERN).

Artist Juanita Spragg spent over a year crafting this exquisite depiction of a Saluki. Jean Linz Perpetual Trophy for Best Puppy in Show A Limited Edition Art Plate featuring a Saluki Puppy. The Plate was given to Lorna Leinbach to donate to the Saluki Club of her choice by Fred Linz in memory of his wife, Jean. The Trophy will remain with the show committee to be displayed at our specialties. Each year a brass plate will be added with the winner s name engraved on it. The exhibitor may include it in a show photo onsite. Trophy Donations All trophy donations will be gratefully accepted. 12 Rules Governing This Show: The Club reserves the right to remove any person from the show. The Show Superintendent shall have full control of this show which will be governed by CKC Rules. Any dog excused by the Show Superintendent or Veterinarian for any reason shall not compete in any class for any award for the balance of the show. Dogs must be on the grounds one hour prior to the judging of their breed. The owner of a dog entered in the show is entirely responsible for any error in entering his/her dog regardless of how or by whom the entry was made. Dogs must be on leash at all times on the show grounds. Crates will be allowed at ringside but are to be kept 15 feet from ringside. There are areas designated for the exercising of dogs. No dog will be allowed to exercise anywhere on the grounds. The Club asks that you pick up after your dog. Use of the buildings and their facilities is a privilege; please be considerate. The welfare of an exhibitor s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that you as the exhibitor will exercise control and restraint over the children In your care on the day of the show, so as not to affect the enjoyment and safety of the other exhibitors and spectators. The Club is not responsible for lost or stolen property. The Club reserves the right to refuse an individual s entries, for just cause, and to ask a person to remove themselves from the precincts of the show. There will be no delays in the show program waiting for dogs. The Club and the Show Committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of the dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of an accident or misfortune to either the dogs, exhibitors, spectators or vendors. All owners/operators of recreational units using the parking area must ensure that there is no discharge of any kind from their waste holding tanks. Anyone found discharging water on the grounds will be removed by order of the Health Department, and may be subject to a fine. If, because of civil disturbance or other acts beyond the control of the Club, it is impossible to open or complete the shows, no refund of entries will be made. EXHIBITORS/HANDLERS/PATRONS ARE TO KNOW AND ABIDE BY THE CKC DOG SHOW RULES. CONFORMATION SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS These shows are conducted under the Canadian Kennel Club Conformation Show Rules and Regulations that are in effect on the date of the shows. It is the responsibility of every person who enters or exhibits at these shows to obtain a copy of these Rules and Regulations and to make themselves familiar with them. The Dog Show Rules for Conformation are available from the Canadian Kennel Club, # Ronson Drive, Etobicoke, Ontario, M9W 5Z9 at a cost of $6.00, plus $3.50 Shipping and Handling, plus $.48 GST. Event Registration Number For the sole purpose of entering CKC events to acquire CKC titles and degrees, foreign born, foreign owned dogs may apply for an ERN Event Registration Number. This number must be obtained within 30 days of the first show entered to avoid cancellation of the points or legs earned and can be obtained by submitting a copy of your foreign certificate of registration along with a fee and a letter of request to the CKC. This ERN replaces an individual CKC registration number or MCN Miscellaneous Certification Number for Trial entering purposes only. For breeding purposes, the individual CKC registration number must still be obtained. Personal Identification and Dog s Rabies Certificates Canadian Government regulations require that a dog entering into Canada must have a valid Rabies Certificate. The Rabies Certificate must be dated 30 days prior to be valid for re-entry into the United States. When entering into Canada, all persons must present proper photo identification and/or a valid passport to Canada Customs and Immigration at the border crossing, or airport terminal.
