11 Animal Interactions Humane Ed volunteers may supervise youthanimal interactions Must complete dog handling training as an HSHV volunteer in order to walk a dog from kennel to room/play yard Cat interactions take place in a communal cat room Dog interactions take place in Ed. Center or dog play yard
12 Animal Interactions Rules for Animal Interactions No more than 2 hands petting an animal Animals must have an escape route Please do not pick up animals When with dogs in play yard, youth should not run toward dog Dog toy reminders Be careful when throwing toys Do not take toy from dog Do not hold toy over dog s head
13 Passing Out Enrichment Dog or Cat Treats May be given to any cat/dog without a food bowl sticker on their cage card Cat treats may be placed through bars of kennel without touching cat Dog treats may be slid under kennel without touching dog Youth should wait for permission to pass out enrichment, and should be supervised by staff or volunteer when doing so
