I would like to thank so many people VanBuren County Beagle Club and Western Michigan Beagle Club for loaning us startup money, Jim Preston (our State Rep) for standing behind us, Hanna Schwartz for taking on the task of Secretary Treasurer, Scott get rolling. Russell Patrick and Skylar Schwartz stepped up as Breed Inspectors and guides. Ryan Carter and Russell Patrick volunteered to make our kitchen one of the best so don t miss breakfast & lunch! Finally, with a very heartfelt thank you, I want to personally Upcoming Events FUN HUNT: 5/6/17 JUDGES CLASS: 5/21/17 Bachman for donating a measuring stand and trial collars, Greg Lucas for donating additional trial collars, and Charles Prather of Plum Creek Kennels for his generous assistance with supplies. Also for the support of the entire Beagle community everyone I talked to was truly enthusiastic and willing to donate time, money and supplies. Travis Wazny was gracious enough to be our Master of Hounds until we recognize those who have and are stepping up to judge the only way to have a good trial is to utilize real houndsmen who are willing and capable to do the job. CTBC strives to take care of our judges, paying $20 per cast, free food and drink. It is our goal to build a judges fund to show them how much we appreciate them. 3 Meet Our Team FAIR HONEST HOUNDSMEN Scott Kapuga has been involved in Little Pack for 15 years, and most of those he has been judging. His face has the scars to prove it! Scott is instrumental in the CTBC and is heading up our efforts. His son, Zak, is following in his footsteps and is going to be a very good judge also. Travis Wazny grew up in the Little Pack Beagle world. His dad is also a World-Class judge! Now Travis is a respected judge and Master of Hounds. He stepped up to the plate for CTBC and we can t thank him enough. Hosea Haralson, Jr is a breeder/houndsman and has been a highly respected Little Pack judge for many years. Hosea is not only fun to run with, he knows the rules and can pick a hard working hound. Greg Lucas has been a houndsman for over 25 years. He started LP trials in 2014, and has been judging for 2 of those years. He is a Breed Inspector and recent Master of Hounds. Greg owns and trains Beagles at Chance 2 Ranch (C2R). And he regularly photo bombs! DJ McCombs is a professional handler, trains and runs Beagles as well as Coonhounds. A wellrespected judge and houndsman! DJ is also a Breed Inspector, Bench Judge, and Master of Hounds. CTBC is growing our judging pool! We have several up-andcoming judges that we are excited to have on our team: Matthew Hemmer already a judge and hitting the brush hard! Nick Pelfresne making great calls and earning his respect as a field judge. Aaron Vandevoorde, Zak Kapuga, Gunnar Eyer, Cody Archibald, Ryan Carter, and Ricky Howell are just getting started. You will see these fellas at the upcoming trials let s help them get a good start!

4 BENCH JUDGING Policy Statement: The ARHA believes that proper conformation is essential to the betterment of the beagle breed. To this point, we will sponsor Bench Shows to encourage the best possible conformation in a true hunting beagle. The bench is a showcase of the hounds that are breeding next generation of Beagles. It is so important, that the NKC/ARHA awards points for Bench Champions in its Hall of Fame program. Straight legs and 45 degree angle shoulder/hips keep a dog sound and powerful in the field throughout its lifetime. Correct teeth (scissor bite shown here, or teeth meeting each other are both correct) keep a dog eating properly without teeth rubbing. Deep chest allows for proper breathing and a big heart. Tight, cat-like feet with proper-length nails keep tendons in the feet from injury and make for easy work on varying terrain. CTBC is proud to have Katie Miles as their main bench judge she has worked hard on conformation and knows what a well-put-together hound looks and feels like. Katie is helping people understand the importance of good conformation and how it affects the longevity and quality of life of our working Beagles. Assisting Katie will be Rachel Lucas. Rachel raises, trains and handles both field and show Beagles. CTBC has some up and coming bench judges that will be assisting from time to time and will eventually be bench judging on their own Nate Jirtle and Zoey Kapuga. Attends at least 1 of the club s fun hunts and observes their operations of this hunt and assists them with the hunt. Writes a report to the ARHA President recommending them for a charter and continues to be supportive of the new club as an advisor. Attends the State Hunt and as many different clubs hunts as possible in their state and informs the NKC/ARHA home office of any problems concerning clubs, judges, Master of Hounds, etc. ARHA Little Pack Policy Statement: "It is our desire that the ARHA can bring a rabbit hound that will be exactly like the type of dog that you would select to take hunting. It is our intention, in interpretation of rules and policies, that all ARHA clubs will conduct competition hunts in a uniform manner. More importantly, competition events will remain a family fun event that is free of dissent and preferential treatment for any person or group." MEET OUR SECRETARY/TREASURER: If you know Hanna, you like her. Hanna is an avid horsewoman, Beagler and all around hunter. She is eager to jump in and get things done and willing to put in the effort to make sure things are organized and taken care of. The Secretary/Treasurer job is painstaking a lot of work goes into keeping track of the data and money for ARHA. Thanks, Hanna!

6 KIDS KAMP For many of you, it s hard to find baby sitters so you can come to the trials. CTBC addresses this by having a few people willing to supervise at the clubhouse while the casts go out. There will be ageappropriate activities including coloring, games and more either outdoors or indoors weather permitting. We will hold a KIDS RAFFLE at our fun hunts as long as we have items to raffle. $1 tickets. NEW ARRIVALS By LP CH Taz and out of bluetick dam, Sky. So get your kids involved in trial days while you enjoy running your dogs! Donate to this fund to help it grow! MICHIGAN HOUND OF THE YEAR By participating in Michigan Little Pack Field Trials, your dog earns points towards the MI HOY program. The points are calculated by how many dogs your dog beats in each trial. Most Michigan clubs offer their own hound of the year program, and CTBC will start their club HOY in LPGRRCH Thunderview Cash or Check CHECK Rose City Cash x Check is a 14 1/2 inch, tri colored Beagle with a big nose and better than average foot speed. He is the first and only dog in Michigan that has won the Michigan HOY in all three divisions Open (2009), Champion (2011), and Grand Champion he won HOY twice, in 2012 and As a Champion, Check was 5th at the World hunt in As a Grand Champion, he came in 3rd at the World hunt in As a Grand Champion, Check won the Illinois State hunt in Was 4th in the Ohio state hunt, 4th in the Grand Nationals. He is a check dog supreme and puts a chop mouth in his pups. Check is the sire of Walnut Ridge Farms Snake, the winner of the open class in the 2016 Michigan HOY. 8 Places to Stay There are 10 electrical/water hookups for camping right at the Clubhouse you are allowed to camp Friday night only, arrival no earlier than 5:00 PM.
