4 In the forest, monkey, crocodile and snake are sad. The Bad Bear takes away their food. 2

5 Bad Bear says: Bring me more food!. The three animals go to collect more food for Bad Bear. 3

6 4 Super Lion sees the animals so sad and they say: Bad Bear wants us to get food for him

7 Bear is under the trees Super Lion says to Bad Bear: You have to get your own food. That is your responsibility. Bad Bear says: I'm sorry, to the animals and everybody in the forest is very happy. THE END 5

9 There was once a sunny day when a rabbit was around in the forest. Some hunters wanted to capture the rabbit and a little girl named Alicia said: Get out of here! 7

10 Help Alicia Help me 8 The next day the rabbit went to the house of Alicia and the girl played in the forest. The rabbit was in trouble and screaming for help: Alicia help me! Alicia went running to save the rabbit. The hunters realized that Alicia loved the rabbit.

11 Finally the hunters became friends of the rabbit and Alicia. The hunters made a house for the rabbit and everyday they went to visit the rabbit and Alicia. 9

12 Thank you for the house and the carrots The hunters gave a box of carrots to the rabbit. It was so happy and said, Thank you for the house and the box of carrots 10

13 You are good frinds And Alicia, very happy said to the hunters, You were very nice to give those gifts to the rabbit. And the rabbit was jumping very happy, and saying: 11

16 14 Last summer, George went to a farm very far away from the city. He was very happy and excited. The place was full of nature and animals. There was a lake with ducks and water so clear, that you could see the fish. The farm was very popular because it had the most beautiful horses. Soon after George got there, he took some pictures of the animals.

17 During this trip George had a lot of fun. There were at least ten horses in the farm. The oldest one was a black horse named Shadow and the smallest was Yanqui, a brown horse with short legs. When they two ran, Shadow was faster than Yanqui. George learned how to ride a horse. 15

18 16 In the barn lived three cows and each one was special. Chona was the heaviest; she ate too much food all day. Cleta and Pinta were always together. They really liked to sleep. George played with Chona and fed her.

19 When George fed the pigs with some corn, they looked very satisfied. The pigs really liked the mud. George thought they were funny animals, but they smelled very bad. That morning it started to rain. 17

20 18 George visited the chickens. There were a rooster, a hen and three little chickens. He fed them with some corn. George looked how the hen always took care of the little ones. The rooster wanted to jump the fence.

21 The summer almost ended and George visited the lake for fishing and swimming. The weather was warm and sunny. In the afternoon George went to a party and learned how to dance country music. 19

22 20 George learned on his trip that the farm can be a fun place, but the work is hard. The animals need attention, care, and love. Now, that George has left the farm, he is a real cowboy. It was his best vacation. THE END

24 22 Lucy is a very nice girl. She is 7 years old. She likes school a lot. Today the teacher asks them to do geometrical shapes for homework.

25 May I help you Lucy? No, thank you Lucy makes her shapes. She uses colored cardboard. Mommy asks Lucy: May I help you?. Lucy says: No, thank you. I can do it by myself. Now Lucy is happy because she finished her homework. 23

26 24 Next day at school, Lucy looks at the beautiful shapes that her friends took to school. Their shapes were just perfect! She knows that their mothers help them. Now Lucy is very sad.

27 Why are you sad, Lucy? asks her the teacher. Lucy said that her shapes are not pretty and that she worked very hard to do them. The teacher tells Lucy that her shapes are pretty and that she made them with no help and that is the most important thing. THE END 25

29 Once upon a time, there was a girl named Alma. She was very generous and nice with her classmates. She used to share her lunch with others and help people that did not have money. 27

30 28 Also, there was a new student named Ana. She used to snatch her classmates' lunch. So Alma, tired of that situation, decided to teach the new girl how to be generous and nice with people, but Ana didn`t take Alma`s advice.

31 All the classmates were mad with Ana, so they stopped talking to her. Ana was so sad, so she decided to look for Alma and ask her for advice. 29

32 Alma taught Ana now how to be kind, and generous with people. So Ana asked for an apology to her classmates, and they all became friends. 30 THE END

34 32 Once upon a time in the ranch of the farmer, there was a little pig that was very dirty and stinked bad. So bad that nobody wanted to play with him. Mr. Carlos, the farmer, was very concerned about the little pig, so he thought of doing him a barnyard, and that way, avoid being despised. The little pig thought that the others didn`t want to be with him because he was locked in the barnyard.

35 The farmer thought that was the perfect solution for the problem, and he did it that way, but his plan didn`t work. The little pig was so sad, that he didn t want to eat, so the farmer had another idea. Since it was Valentine`s day, he thought of giving him a little pig friend, that way he was going to be happy. 33

36 34 Now, he wouldn t feel dirty anymore, because the little piggy was like him, he wouldn`t see her dirty or smelly on the contrary, he would see her beautiful. And so the little pig was very happy and the farmer just smiled and went. The farmer always saw them from his house. It was something extraordinary.

37 All the animals from the farm came one by one. First the sheep, then a duck, the little chicks, a dog, a cat, and at the end, a rooster with his girlfriend the hen. They saw the little pig so happy, that the happiness among the animals. Finally they wanted to be their friends. 35

38 36 Mr. Carlos, the farmer, was smiling and thought aloud: I knew that friendship was very important among the human beings, but now I see that even animals appreciate and need friends. Friendship is like the light in the middle of a stormy night, that light that gives you the assurance that there are better times! THE END

39 Junk Food, Bad Health by: Lucía Martínez Mota 37

40 38 My sister is 10 years old. Her name is Lucy. She is pretty and nice, but there is a problem; she likes to eat junk food. She spends a lot of money buying sodas, candies, spicy snacks, chocolates and pizza.

41 And she also doesn`t do exercise. She does not jump the rope or run in the park. She prefers to play video games during two or three hours a day. Definitely Lucy has bad habits. And she has bad health. 39

42 40 One day my mother gave her one hundred pesos. This money had to be spent in a week, but Lucy spent a lot of money that day. She bought three slices of pizza, two donuts, two cans of soda, a bag of spicy potatoes chips and an ice cream. She ate and drank junk food.

43 That night Lucy had a stomachache. My mother asked her: What happened? My sister answered, I have a stomachache. My mother gave her two tablets, but Lucy did not get better. The next day she and my mother went to the doctor. The doctor said: The girl must be operated because her stomach has a sore. My mother answered OK and Lucy cried. I said to her: Don`t cry. The surgery will be successful. 41

44 42 The doctor operated Lucy. She stayed three days in the hospital. During fifteen days she did not attend school. When she felt well, she promised that she would not eat junk food and buy harmful food in the future.

45 Lucy kept her promise. Now she eats vegetables and drinks juice and milk. During recess at school, she eats fruit instead of chips, candies or pizza. Now she avoids junk food, she has good health and is happy. My parents are proud because Lucy persuades her friends to eat good food. Now Lucy says: If you eat good food you will have good health. 47 Once upon at time there was a boy that the only friend that he had was an old soccer ball that he received from his dad before he went to USA. This kid lived with his mom but she wasn`t at home. So one day he saw a present in the middle of the garden. 45

48 46 The kid was surprised when he opened it he saw it was a beautiful soccer ball. He started to play as soon as he saw it. He was very happy and he kicked it so hard that it went to the other side of the wall.

49 He was very sad because he thought he would never see the ball again. So he looked through little hole in the wall and he saw a boy playing with his ball. First he wanted to ask him for the ball but when he saw the face of the boy he decided another thing. 47

50 48 The other boy said: If you want to give it to me as a present we will play together until I enter to a professional team. My name is Antonio Isad. Always remember it.

51 He told the boy: Hey that is my ball but I want you to keep it. But the boy didn`t want that gift. The boy insisted he said that he wanted to give it as a present because he looked so happy. 49

52 Years later they met at a soccer game. Antonio Isad lost a finger but with the Atlas Team. So if kids have dreams they shouldn`t let them go to trash. We all have problems but they can be solved. 50 THE END

54 52 Once upon a time Luis and his family went on vacation to the country. Luis was happy because his vacation was the vacation that he was waiting for. Luis came from school and jumped happy because his parents had arrived.

55 They came from their work and prepared the luggage. When Luis woke up, he looked around him and looked at all the nature that we have in our world. He was astonished with this beautiful planet. In the afternoon 53

56 54 Luis went to see all the plants and after that he and his parents went to see the animals around them. Then they ate and walked to be

57 close to the animals that lived in that place. That evening they went camping and they made a fire. They talked about their life and all the good things they had passed. 55

58 56 Luis felt very happy for all the wonderful things he was living. But the time was over. They had to go back home. Luis was sad but he learned about

59 nature and the beautiful things in our world. He will never forget that wonderful experience. THE END 57
