23 Tamworth Swine Color: red- brown color Characteristics: long heads; long, lean, and athletic, legs are long and strong, erect ears Origin: central England one of the oldest pure breeds of swine around Uses: produces the best bacon, endangered of being extinct walk long distances, sows and piglets live together in groups called sounders, boars live in groups called bachelor long snouts, efficient foragers, don t get sunburnt easily
24 Berkshire Swine Uses: used for meat such as tender loin, genetic purity, good eating quality Origin: dates back to 1600s; County Berkshire in southern England Characteristics: erect ears, short neck, short blocky legs, strong feet, firm body, upturned nose, muscular Color: black with white points (legs, face,tail)

28 New Hampshire Poultry Origin: Massachusetts and New Hampshire Use: a dual purpose chicken, selected more for meat than egg production Color: red plumage, yellow skin color, egg shell color is brown, pinfeathers are a reddish color medium to light red Characteristics: deep, broad body; feathers grow rapidly; prone to go broody and make good mothers
