2 The Auckland Metro Bird Club is proud to host the Topflite New Zealand National Bird Show - the 83 rd to be held by the NZ Federation of Cage Birds Inc. - from 30 th July to 2 nd August 2015 at the Howick Leisure Centre, 563 Pakuranga Road, Howick, Auckland. EXHIBITORS DETAILS NB. ENTRIES CLOSE SATURDAY 18 TH JULY, 2015 Post your entries with SAE to Bob Cranston, 236 Godley Road, Titirangi, Auckland 0604 or by robert.cranston@xtra.co.nz Cheques payable to Auckland Metro Bird Club or online (ASB) (For your identification, please state Nat followed by your surname and add $1 for return of cage stickers) Please ensure entry forms are legibly filled out to include status, specialist club/s etc. ed entries should be similarly detailed. Please give details of any air freight birds. Entries are $1.50 per cage; Catalogues are $5 Benching 1pm-9pm Thursday 30 th July. Only designated helpers will be allowed into the hall once benching has begun. De-benching will commence on Sunday 2 nd August at 1.30pm or earlier by prior arrangement with the Show Manager. Judging commences 9am on Friday 31 st July. There will be no unauthorised entry to the hall during judging. Judges are required to stay for at least 2 hours after the Show opens. (Yearbook P265, 7c) Show Rules will be administered by the AMBC as per the 2015 Yearbook (P ) Protests must be lodged as soon as possible with the Show Secretary in writing, along with a $20 fee and will be dealt with by the Protest Committee. Sales birds will be accepted at any time except on Friday during the hours of judging. Cages must not be overcrowded and should be clearly labelled with type of bird, sex, age, price and your name. The bird sales manager has the right to refuse any birds/cages for reasons including overcrowding, dirty, lack of food/water. 15% commission will be paid to the AMBC by NZ Federated members and 20% by non NZ Federated members. Liability. The AMBC and designated officials will give your birds/cages/equipment the best possible care during the Show, but cannot be held responsible outside of that time. At first set of lights turn right into Great South Road. Go through 4 sets of lights and at the 5 th set turn right into Te Irirangi Drive. (approx. 1.2kms) Go through 12 sets of lights (approx. 10kms) and at this major set it changes to Botany Road. Go through 3 more sets of lights, passing Golflands Motel & the Howick Club (Awards Dinner venue) Go straight over the first and only roundabout (still Botany Road) and turn left at the lights into Pakuranga Road. The Show venue, Howick Leisure Centre is just 300 metres on the left.

Please make cheques out to the Auckland Metro Bird Club or if paying electronically, ASB , stating Nat and your surname as identification. Bird entries, Catalogues, the Bus Trip and the Awards Dinner can be paid beforehand in either of these ways. Note Bob Cranston s (Show Secretary) contact details on previous page. Eftpos and cash will be available at all areas of the Show except for the cash only pay bar on the Friday night. 2) The Friday night social, the Saturday AGM and all specialist body meetings will be held at the Show venue. A lift is available to the first floor. The Howick Leisure Centre has ample safe parking and is on a main bus route. It is a No Smoking venue. 3) Please fill in the inserted booking sheet (Bus Trip $25, Awards Dinner $42, Friday Social) and return with your entries/payment to Bob Cranston. Please keep a copy. The Friday Bus Trip will depart from the Show venue at 9.45am returning at approximately 3pm. The Friday night Social (7pm-10pm) will have a pay bar with supper provided. The Saturday night Awards Dinner (semi-formal) will commence at 6.30pm at the Howick Club, 107 Botany Road, Howick, approximately 2kms from the Show venue. A varied 3 course meal, followed by tea/coffee and entertainment will be provided. A pay-bar is available. 4) Silent Auctions will operate all weekend, with one being for top class birds, the other for a beautiful range of gifts. Refreshments, Raffles and Souvenirs are available. Topflite, Quality Bird Supplies and the Moths & Butterflies of NZ Trust will have a display and there will be a display of Butterflies, some of which are extremely rare or even extinct. The local schools colouring competition and poster competition entries will also be on display. Howick Village, a little over 2kms from the Show venue has an interesting Farmers Market on Saturday morning 8am-12Noon.

4 President s Message BIRDS ARE FUN! That was the title on the colouring competition forms our Club has used in recent years. We also know that birds can be challenging, rewarding, frustrating, puzzling, time consuming and can open up other opportunities such as the comradeship and learning shared by belonging to a Club and by exhibiting at Shows. The pinnacle of any Show season should by rights be the National and that is why we invite you all to this year s Topflite National in Auckland, the 83 rd to be held since 1933 and the 105 th actual Show for our Club. Birdkeeping, like many other hobbies today, is at something of a crossroads, with more people and sponsorship needed to survive. Our enthusiasm for our Annual Shows, all culminating in the National, is vital for this to happen. We appreciate that attending any National means expense, time, effort, co-operation and organization for those who attend and especially for those travelling from the South Island or from far corners of the North Island. The Auckland Metro Bird Club really does appreciate and thank you for this devotion. We must all acknowledge the valued and constant support of Topflite and to that and on behalf of all of those involved in the planning and organization of this year s National I want to thank all of those who have been or will be involved: the sponsors and donors, helpers from other Clubs and our own, the Judges and of course, to you the exhibitor.
