The father Heinz-Jozef Freialdenhofen (64 years old and more then 50 years as a pigeon fancier) has been a champion on short and middle distance since he started. When he oldest son Dirk Freialdenhofen (36 years and 25 years as a pigeon fancier) started helping with the birds, they decided to enter the international very long distance races: Barcelona, Pau, Marseille, Dax and Perpignan. The first top prizes were won in 1994, the year that the other son Heiko (30 years and 15 years as a pigeon fancier) joined the family hobby. They won 13th national Champion Long Distance for the first time in They have always been on top ever since. They could win many times the best series of birds on these races against Belgium, The Netherlands or France. Freialdenhofen & sons are with no doubt the best long distance racers in Germany. The strain Freialdenhofen for the very long distance Dirk Freialdenhofen met the famous Albert Simons from Maaseik (Belgium), who lived in Roosteren (The Netherlands) in those days. But the family visited this fancier Simons for the first time in The family Freialdenhofen was thinking about the very long distance racers and were impressed by the birds of Albert Simons. Several eggs and youngsters were bought in 1991 at the loft Simons and these birds became the basic strain in the new generation of birds Freialdenhofen. One of these basic birds is Doffertje 733 or NL91/ , direct A. Simons. He is a grandson of Oud Doffertje 4, son of the legendary Oud Doffertje from A & L van der Wegen X daughter of Perpignan (1 st nat. Perpignan, 13 th nat. Bordeaux, 20 th nat. Perpignan, nat. Barcelona ) and son of Oud Doffertje 1 the basic cock on the loft Simons. Doffertje 733 became the direct sire of many excellent racers like 1 st international Dax Euregio, 4 th nat. Dax, 5 th nat. Bergerac, 12 th nat. Bordeaux, 40 th nat. Cahors, 45 th nat. Pau, 46 th nat. Dax, 51 st nat. Pau Other long distance was bought at the famous Saya brothers from Maastricht (NL). Marseille The dame of Joop 756 is Abor NL88/ , direct daughter of Abor, which won 4 th and 4 th nat. Barcelona, 31 st nat. Marseille. At the same time as the birds from Saya, birds from Yves van de Poel-Buckley (Geetsbets, Belgium) were bought. The main hen from this strain is Dochter De 848 B96/ She is from /90 strain P. v/d Eynde x v/d Poel/Buckley (won 26 th intern. Barcelona 95, 53 rd intern. Marseille 95, intern. 10 Method The family Freialdenhofen races on the very long distance with the system total widowhood 120 racing pigeons. They have about 300 pigeons in Winter: 40 cocks for breeding, 80 hens for breeding In the summer an additional 130 youngsters for the very long distances A lot of work but it are the job of the whole family Freialdenhofen. The racing birds are paired for the first time in February and the second time in April.
